@emusha I agree this season there will be a little change because we dont know what is going to happen. I am excited and cant wait.

You might be surprised. It's not the roles that are all that different or even important for this group (of course the TPTB will try to dictate who does what) it's the approach. It's the words used and the actions that are read differently. Did you ever hear any of the other contestants on any of the other seasons tell a woman what Dean did? I think not. That's the difference, the different dynamic. For some men jealousy is a sign of weakness and a loss of manhood. For others it's a sign of affection and love. You can feel all of this all day, but to some men if you show it, it's like chum in the water to sharks. How the guys approach this is going to be different.

No, race isn't all that different when it comes to all those things that make us human. But it is very different as to how we view the world and how it views you. All your past shapes who you are today and how you react to everything and anything around you. I'm not expecting for many of us to get it but I do believe some of us will see it clearly. Rachel told someone to "get the f** out", I'm a bit afraid to find out why.

21 seasons of TB and 12 seasons of the 'ette. IMO it makes no difference who the lead is. We have already been told of a villain, by Millsy. Two RC's in, and there's one role we already know of.

Black White Italian Spanish Asian on and on, a lot of them say get the F**k out in one way shape or form. Rachel saying it doesn't mean that's anything special or different IMO. Ali had her moments, which I called Oscar performances, my opinion, and I wasn't surprised when MF said Rachel was one of the top 3 and we all know he loved Ali. I bet we'll have a F2 let go early just as Ali did.

Every single season we've had storyboards, and roles that were cast according to the story. That's how we sleuth, it's nothing new. Someone noticed the Legally Blind poster or whatever it was in the SM MF posted.

It's worked for them for many seasons. IMO they aren't going to cast sweet humble polite career oriented guys without fullfilling their storyboard requirements.

IMO It's easy to say the show will stay the same, in the same way it's easy to say final couples won't last, because that's what we're used to. But there's been several indications so far that shows that they are treating Rachel differently than the way they usually operate. I remember when I thought very early on that she would be the next 'ette, the argument was that 'she wasn't getting the bachelorette edit', and yet here she is now. When I thought they were gonna announce her on JK, the argument was that they would never spoil their flagship show (and that Nick was different because BiP doesn't matter as much to them as the bachelor does), but they did. When Rachel said that they were casting for her, she was hoping for more diversity and she thought it would happen, the argument was that she was thinking too highly of herself, it might be one or two more diverse contestants but that overall the show would look the same, but from everything we've sleuthed so far, it is way more diverse IMO & they even let her meet some of her guys early. At this point these are only small differences IMO, and it's really early in the game, but they could also end up being an indicator of how they'll go about this season. Not to say they'll change everything for her, I'm sure they'll still have the villain of the season, I'm sure they'll still have some people for comic relief that don't really have a connection with the lead, they'll still have the 'who's here for the right reasons' plot line but it's naive IMO to dismiss the train of thought that her race and the lack of diversity on this show up to this point won't play a role in how they present Rachel/her F1 and her season to the public. All JMO.

Thanks for saying it better than I could.  I agree with your train of thought. I hope there are not actors in the bunch and that they were really there for her.

I'm curious, what indications are there that Rachel is being treated differently? I have not seen anything concrete.

ETA if it's true TPTB casted not one but two past cast from Ex-isle then there is that. That's a great sign. I guess it's better than Famously Single.
So I guess that could be an indicator right there of a quality season. This is not masterpiece theater or Downton Abbey. This is MF&Co.

I don't know if they'll treat Rachel differently or not, but the fact that this season would be charting a new course, would dictate that some things can't be as usual.

A cursory search on sm will show that Rachel is bringing in a whole new slew of audience for being cast as the lead. It will make all the business sense in the world, to tweak things here and there to cater to that audience. I do not know what that will look like, but don't expect a sharp swing from what they've always done. Heck, if they play their cards right, this season could give the franchise its second wind.

No disagreement from me with the fact that we are all human. I wasn't saying her statement "get the f**k out" has to do with anything racial or ethnic. Why it was necessary to have to say at all and the reason behind it is where I'm coming from.

Great points. I think there are always two trains of thought in this area. There are those that believe race shouldn't play a role at all. Unfortunately this often leads to "so let's keep everything homogeneous". Then there's the train of thought that diversity is another word for anti-white thus everything different in approach is "special" treatment, so "let's keep everything homogeneous". For me I don't think the thoughts are as wrong as the approach that they lead to. Again approach is what I've already stated.  

The show itself made race an issue. I have no idea if that's a good thing are a bad thing. I personally choose not to make it an issue more than it's place. And for me it does have a place in how it's approached. Yes, she needs to be treated the same AND at the same time differently. That's the key and it takes a unique insight as to where this is necessary and where it should be applied. For some that's impossible to see. But for me, she should never be treated differently as to their expense, respect, hard work and care with her season but must be mindful of her unique dating requests and accommodations in that area, period.

Now how the men approach her and each other, well, that's a whole other matter and that's where the unknown factor comes in. To me that's the exciting, different, unique and weary part.

No matter how this group says things, tptb have a way of getting what they need out of them and if they don't, there is still the editing room. I don't really expect anything different this season.

ITA with you - I don't expect much to be drastically different...however, I do think as any showrunner or producer would know a Jason and JP show simply can't be exactly the same as previous shows -- it is also very astute of anyone leading this franchise for a long time that this is an opportunity  to capitalize on to get a broader audience base. After all, even TB has been getting lower and lower viewership numbers since Brad's season so long ago. I also believe tptb has gotten very comfortable with experimenting over the years... as if there are no sacred cows to the point that they even eliminated the rose ceremonies at the end of an episode

...yes there will be storyboards, yes there will be villains, drama kings, there will be 'there for the wrong seasons', there will be guys that are famewhores, there will be editing and producer manipulation....that's the show format just like rose ceremonies are... however, that IMO really doesn't mean that it is out of the question that the show will be different -- imo even if the format and structure doesn't change ... the cast of characters will bring a different feel...in the same way bach canada feels slightly different from bach us...I do think this upcoming bette will have a slightly different vibe. but as all things with this show and speculations twt
