Bachelorette 13 - Rachel Lindsay - General Discussion - *Sleuthing Spoilers*

I'm sure the majority is cast, but even RS said "It was just to get guys/fans excited, and I’m sure drum up some late applications, which I’m also sure they’ll promote for Rachel." That was the same technique with nick and it worked! They can always cut guys, depending on the new applications they get.

I thought most of the 'cast' is pretty much set, per RS or am I wrong?

MF started with his historic tweets right after what was supposed to be the final casting weekend according to RS. IMO TPTB's decision to announce Rachel early has everything to do with casting. They still have a month to go before filming starts for the Bachelorette. Good enough time IMO for getting applications and finalizing guys who would be interested in Rachel. All JMO.

Anyone find any scoops here for the cast? This season has been so boring that I'm already craving sleuthing here for Rachel's season!

Since it appears that they made a very early decision, they will silence the clamouring for this or that person for Bachelorette. The added message will be "stop campaigning, we already have a chosen one."

Whether we like it or not, A LOT of people are going to be saddened and upset by this news. Sick, sad world!

IMO The idea that they would cast keeping Rachel in mind would only work if they get enough decent age-appropriate applicants who would be interested in Rachel. The usual male candidates this show attracts fall in the 25-29 age group IMO. They usually cast 4-5 over 30. Personally, I can't see Rachel with a 25 year old starting out in life even if he was there for her and is an amazing candidate otherwise. 

By having this announcement early and provided they accept late applications (which IMO they would), TPTB will attract candidates who might not have been interested in the show otherwise and the ones who are there only for Rachel. Case in point, Jordan who has said in multiple interviews that he only came on the show for Jojo and would have turned it down if it was Caila as the 'Ette.

Both Kaitlyn and Trista ended up with guys that were younger than them, so I could see Rachel picking someone in his late 20s. We really don't know anything about her type. Which is exciting for me! I think the majority of guys will be your typical personal trainers an ex-athletes, but hopefully we'll have a couple of guys like Michael G and Ames in there. Hopefully.

I haven't seen Trista's season so I won't comment but Kaitlyn IMO is way less mature than her 30 years so IMO she fits well with Shawn. Rachel is a very mature woman IMO and I don't think this show has cast a lot of mature 25-27 year old men the last few years (JMO). All JMO.

Chris Siegfried and Roberto were both 26/27 when they won, so you never know!

Assuming the Rachel spoiler is correct and given she isn't on the JKL  guest list I think it might be a skype interview.  He has done a few in the past.  I recall one with Brittany prior to the 2 Bette season.

I agree. They need immature people and train wrecks to spike ratings.
In the past men have pee'ed on each other mattresses. Good marriage material.

If Rachel is announced tonight I have to say I'm kind of liking the idea of announcing current contestants as leads before the season finishes because it makes it less about campaigning via SM by contestants (and honestly, that's all it's seems to be for me recently) and more about casting from the ABC execs -- because I have no doubt this is coming from the very top, IMO, just as it did with Nick being announced while BIP was still airing.

Which makes me think that perhaps ABC execs learnt their lesson that SM can sway things too much and it ends up being fans voting for the next lead like they would for their top idol and contestants campaigning to do so, instead of who TPTB want. Plus, with ratings being about the same pretty much regardless of the lead, I can see TPTB going with who they want to go with as they realize it doesn't impact ratings (Nick's season is proof of this so far).

So I can see ABC wanting to announce leads whenever they want by getting ahead of any predictable announcements (ATFR post-show). For a show that's very predictable these days... even without spoilers IMO... announcing a current contestant as lead while a season is airing is something new and a game changer that started with the announcement of Nick. After 21 seasons of Bach and 12 seasons of Bette and spoilers (SM included), I can see them mixing it up and changing things and I have no doubt that's why Nick was chosen in the first place -- he's always been one to mix it up and game change, JMO.
