Kaitlyn Bristowe - Shawn Booth - Bachelorette 11 - #4 - Discussion

Kaitlyn is so capable of whatever she sets her mind to, IMO. Her one drawback for me is her mouth brought on by her drinking all the time. And IMO, it's every day most of the day. Sooner or later it's going to have a very negative effect in her social life and Shawn, IMO. Shawn appears to be very laid back about it...I just wonder if that attitude of dealing with it can last a lifetime.

Speaking  of drinking . The way she has wine on her hand, video or photos and talks about it. She is for  sure becoming an alcoholic . When did this woman post something that wine is not part of it . Good thing her man can stand her drinking ways . Jmo

@lovebites8727 IMO she is just hedonistic... my sister is very similiar and drinks everyday for enjoyment but not alcoholic ... alcoholism is more sinister and usually there are signs of the disease like letting oneself go or becoming unreliable etc... JMO

Well Shawn took her to a winery for her birthday so it must not bother him that much.

^^ functioning optimally while addicted is arguably impossible... that's the essence of addiction, it takes its toll on something... IMO I'm not seeing any of that with Kaitlyn at this point (I worry for others in the franchise before her actually)..

I think Shawn could put up with Kaitlyn's drinking and a whole lot more from her. He is getting a lot of perks from this relationship. JMO

It has taken a toll on her IMO and YES others do it but not daily and nightly like she loves to share JMO

My sister is a functioning alcoholic. Sloshed every night, productive at work every day. Travels with her bottle of scotch to make sure it's there when she wants/needs it. Very sad to me. The toll it takes is ruining relationships. I see this with Kaitlin who sabotages her success at every turn.

I hope if Kaitlyn has a problem with alcohol that she will recognize it at some point. My understanding is that it is a progressive disease and it leads to insanity, being institutionalized and death. I am not saying that lightly. Eventually the person tends to slide into ruined relationships, ruined finances, inability to reason, work, inability to do much but drink and deny reality ETC. I hope for Kaitlyn and Shawn's sake that she can recognize it before it is too late IF she does have a problem (the evidence seems to be there). They seem like they really love each other.

I know this is a sleuthing site, but I don't think any of us can definitively screen Kaitlyn for alcoholism simply based off what she's shown on social media. That being said, there is definitely such a thing as a functioning alcoholic.

I wasn't screening her in my post if the comment refers to me. I said IF and it would be up to her to call herself an alcoholic. the theme of Kaitlyn's drinking has been constant on this board since she first appeared. Disagree on functional alcoholism. Only for a while IMO. NOt trying to be confrontational just trying to clarify.
