I think each of the couples still together bring something different. I think JP & Ashley look into each other's eyes and seem to communicate more than others. That's all I meant in regards to the screencaps.

And feeling a little nostalgic too. I'm happy with the ending but wondering when if ever we'll get to see another show like this one.

The only picture better than the tram smush would have been the one they didn't show on that Episode but saved for the finale which left even less to the imagination. Of course my imagination doesn't need all the much help.

I'm not sure she has a history of guys leaving and Brad certainly seemed to like her even though I couldn't see where she was all that into him for whatever reason or not. Funny, he said she opened him up too so she must have some quality that closed off guys like.

She was a bit paranoid about guys this season leaving because of all of the hype on the message boards about folks wanting Emily or Chantal but then both Jillian and Ali went through the same thing. I think she's far more secure/confident than both Ali and Jillian.

I think she and JP have a strong chemical attraction to one another which keeps them both touching one another - in excess. LOL!

Interesting because in alot of interviews I see him reaching for her. I wondered if he was just a little nervous being on camera and she was reassuring him.

No doubt the reassuring goes both ways. He may be less comfortable in public than she is, but she has insecurities of her own that he is taking care of. They do take turns in the interviews. She doesn't talk more than he does.

I also thought that the "oh, will he leave me?" bit was hyped more than it needed to be for the show. She did tear down Brad's "walls"... and Ben's. (Brad was much more into her than she was into him... or so it appeared to me. He was trying very hard with her, but something was always "off". Heck, he was also trying hard with Emily as well...)

In regards to "closed off" guys, something the other Ashley (Spivey) stated in her episode #7 commentary on abc.com got my attention: Ben and Constantine are both reserved with their feelings. I think Ash likes it more when guys are more open with how they feel. In that same episode, JP went into detail about his jealous feelings with her on their group date. She wanted to hear all of that... the Open Book Guy.

I have to laugh about what Thomigirl said... "couldn't wait to be out in public". Now that the public just can't get enough of them, they are probably too eager to make that trip back to Fiji. She thinks they can just go get coffee in the morning...

I agree. She does like the open book guy and JP doesn't seem to struggle expressing how he feels. I also like that he said he was flexible on anything concerning her. There was an interview Ashley gave (paraphrasing here) that when JP told her about his jealous feelings that how she knew he really cared etc!

Poor Ashley. I hope the coffee thing works out for them. Maybe their fans will leave them alone for just one cup?

I remember JP fans speculating very early on that Ashley wanted a guy who was not only more physically demonstrative, but one who would take the initiative more with her in all aspects, and wouldn't sit by idly and wait for her to "figure it out". The things that some people were criticizing JP for (being too "controlling", which IMO is just a derogatory exaggeration of his "take charge" personality) are exactly what Ashley was looking for. Ironically, Ben's opposite nature, letting Ashley take the lead and being rather reserved when it came to physical affection as well as expressing his emotions, was probably welcome to her once she had already decided on JP, yet needed a F2 she really liked and who she felt comfortable with, and one who she wouldn't have to be "fighting off" at some point, and who wouldn't be constantly gushing about his feelings for her either.

I agree that Chrystie pegged the wrong guy as the one that Ashley would be too much for. While in certain outwardly tangible areas (age, goofiness, looks) her sister may have immediately found Ben more compatible for Ash, on all the more subtle fronts, JP was clearly the one who fit better.

Good post Iron, our brain sharing continues! LOL. ITA that Ashley wants a more take charge partner as long as he listens and respects her and that's exactly the dynamic they have going on. He's no Lucas or Ty. And in one of the interviews, she talked about how stubborn he can be and how she manages him too.

If JP didn't exist, I think she'd just leave the show empty handed save for a brief showmance, and continue looking for a take charge man who would make her feel taken care of but still value her as a strong, independent girl.

In any case, she seems very well handled now so Chrystie can relax.

Yes, it has certainly raised the bar for future shows however, I agree with Lucas in that we will probably not see another show quite like this one. I absolutely loved it though and when watching future shows will be thinking "remember when..."!!

This is awesome, JBF. The only thing that was not difficult for production was when they wanted on screen chemistry, love and hotness with JP and Ashley. That was all real, but way too much for TPTB to show us, but they couldn't hide it, no matter how hard they tried. All other stuff with all the other guys (including Ben) looks so producer driven and scripted when you compare the the scenes, like these, that TPTB actually allowed us to see, not to mention the LCD declaration of love by JP and her sweetly kissing him and rubbing his face afterwards. Ashley S. had in her blog, pictures of Ashley immediately following Ben's declaration of love and it was a cold expression on her face, totally opposite and AS put the other picture after JP told Ashley as comparision. How Ben couldn't see that, still is very baffling.

JP's snark to Pete post show with the Cassie picture "oh, I'm just doing what I'm told. Oh, wait, the show is over, oops". speaks volumes. I assume Ashley told JP that 'kissing scenes' with the other guys, after "Jammie Date" were mostly producer driven and Pete probably assured JP was too. Plus it's a shout out that JP knew he loved Ashley and she loved him and all the 'doubt' on screen was "I'm just doing what I'm told" ~ JP and Ashley had no doubt, whatsoever.
