Ben Higgins - Lauren Bushnell - Bachelor 20 - Discussion

Both JoJo and Lauren are gorgeous and Ben lucked out on whichever one he ended up with. I don't know why people feel the need to talk down as if Lauren is lesser than JoJo. They're both exceptionally beautiful and great individuals. At the end of the day we should accept who Ben chose. JoJo is over Ben & vice versa.

I don't think Emily meant any harm and I doubt she was thinking anyone would be offended when she reposted that. However it did make me a laugh a little because Chantal was the JoJo of Brad's season and I bet a lot of folks thought the same thing back then about Chantal with Brad and I bet that would've offended Emily.  

Oh yeah - Chantal TOTALLY = JoJo, and she would have been the 'ette too over Ashley, 100%, if she didn't get a boyfriend in off season. Emily was soooooo overly emotional and butt hurt about anything Chantal related. That being said, I don't think Emily meant much by it. She was just reposting a blog for a friend, and edited the original post to say Ben chose the right woman for him after getting tons of flack. And also luckily for us, Lauren is total class and cool as a cucumber (at least publicly) when it comes to this JoJo stuff. She acts totally secure and happy in her love for Ben, in the same circumstance where Emily got defensive and butt hurt.

It is probably no big deal, though coming from the most jealous F1 ever it is pretty hypocritical.

Honestly, Ben and Lauren met on a stupid tv show. People probably still tell Trista she should have picked Charlie. That is just what happens when you make your life a public spectacle. 

I don't think Ben and Lauren actually care. While I am not a fan, I have seen nothing to make me think that either Ben or Lauren let any thing like this bug them and that is great. Honestly, I think most of this stuff is done as a stupid joke or people thinking they are clever. I like that Lauren and Ben don't seem to get annoyed or jealous. To me that is a great sign of a healthy relationship built on trust and with enough respect for each other to not let the actions of others cause issues in their relationship and lives.

OT, I think part of my resistance and dislike for this couple is the use of the word perfect for them and their behavior. I think they are both good decent people. I think they have handled most of this extremely well. I think they genuinely love and care for each other, though I do think Lauren is a little bored with Denver. But I do not think that individually they are all that special. They are both attractive, but neither is the most gorgeous I have seen. He enjoys volunteer and charity work and she is into fashion. They are actually pretty average mid 20s people. So when I hear or read how they are perfect, it just grates on me. I see nothing extraordinary or perfect about them. I see slightly above average in looks and that is it. They are in the medium for me with everything else.

I would be happy to enjoy them as these two normal people who feel in love on tv, but when the extreme gets pushed at me I rebel and go, eh they are not nearly as impressive as most of my former students and colleagues.

I don't mean this as a criticism of any posters here, rather an explanation of why I just can't seem to get behind these two rather harmless and generally nice people. It is odd for me, as I really enjoy the Chris and Des love, but these two are just so blah to me. Anyway, if I have violated site rules, it was not my intent and please delete my post.

^^ Thanks for your thoughts, stuck. I actually like Ben/Lauren FOR their normalcy. Yes, I thought he was a fantastic Bachelor, and she a stellar F1, but I don't personally think they belong on a pedestal of any kind. They are normal, like Des/Chris, Ashley/JP levels of normal, which I like. I just happened to like their "story" more than Chres or Jash, and that's personally why I like them more than the other two aforementioned couples.

The only thing I disagree with you about is that I don't see any indication that Lauren is bored with Denver. She's made a nice little circle of girlfriends and seems to be adjusting. I'm sure it's not easy, but at least publicly she's handling it very well.

@sosleepy I think she maybe a little bored with Denver since she and they both have been traveling a lot since the permanent move to Denver. This is not counting the whole first month vacation after the AFTR, but once she had supposedly moved. The concerts and trips to Las Vegas and then LA for the movie premiere. Add to that their going to Miami for his work and her work trip. Very little continual nesting time and lots of breaks from Denver in a really short time period, as they only made the official move around the beginning of April, correct. To me that seems like Ben is trying to keep her happy and so they are traveling a bit more than we saw with Des and Chris. That is okay, it is a transition to give up on the California life, so it is smart of both of them to take these breaks and hopefully as time goes on just like Trista she will get more settled and maybe feel the need to travel a little less. For now, I am sure they are getting most of it free, but it will get expensive if they try to keep it up on their own.

BTW, Emily is probably the least educated lead this show has ever had. I honestly think that somethings just don't occur to her. I often felt that she arrested her development at 18 when Ricky died and she got pregnant. I think she is growing and maturing with Tyler, but she is not the brightest bulb to even understand that she may have been offending anyone. I think she honestly just meant to say JoJo is hot. And yeah she would have freaked the f*** out if someone had posted the same thing about Chantal.

Stupid. Just stupid. It's not like his fiancée is ugly. Lauren is just as gorgeous as JoJo....more so to him!

Why do people feel the need to tell others who they should pick as a partner? Particularly, someone who should know better.

I agree they are not perfect but I do think that Ben thinks Lauren is a perfect match for him and vise versa. There is nothing special about me or my husband. We are just average in looks with no special talents, but we have been married for a long long time.

I haven't seen any signs that lauren is bored with Denver either. I think most of their travels have been scheduled commitments, but she is use to being busy and her job required her to travel so I'm sure it's been an adjustment.

I think JoJo is beautiful but Lauren is just as beautiful. I don't think people should still be comparing them. Competition is over. Both girls won. Time for people to accept it. Maybe the Lauren and Ben's wedding, and JoJo and her new love will help people move on.

Can anyone, who is not Ben, explain to me the reason why he should've picked JoJo. Do they know Ben better than Ben? Do they know Lauren and JoJo personally as to offer insight as to why JoJo will be better and Lauren not? 

I always wondered why folks are so invested in these people they know nothing about but think they can decide who or what is best for them. 
I they really were a fan of Ben they should be happy that HE picked who he knew was best for HIM. 

Lauren has shown grace and class and IMO is a naturally beautiful young lady inside and out.
I'm so over those who are lauded as being hot and beautiful so that makes it reason enough for them to win or to be cast as a lead. There's more to real life issues than looks. All of the raving about JoJo IMO is about her superficial looks

I'm sorry, but I don't know how anyone who has been on the show, 'competing' over a guy, could think that was ok to post. How would Emily feel if that was posted about another woman to her husband? Do these people stop and think for 30 seconds before commenting or posting on sm? If Emily got dragged for her comment, she deserved it, it just showed so much emotional immaturity. And Lauren has been getting A LOT of that on sm anyway, from all over the place, so getting it from a former lead/contestant is just not necessary.

I didn't take any offense, just a compliment towards Jo. Jmo but I believe she was just pointing out how great she looks in a bikini.

She would be a fool not to see Jo and Ben have moved on.
