IMO discussions were going on for a long time.

RS posted on 10/28 that "By all accounts, Ben has been pretty clear about wanting Lauren in the end, so much so that it’s apparently become obvious to the rest of the group, which in turn hasn’t made some real happy." Of course we have by now seen that date (just before HTD) and this was what we saw.

He also posted at the same time "And since I hear that JoJo is a really good candidate for next “Bachelorette,” I’d say she’s probably gonna finish third." Now of course the F3 finish was wrong - but this suggests to me they were looking at JoJo way back in October - during filming - IMO this was hardly a last minute change (though it probably seemed that way to Caila) and it may have been a surprise to Ben as well.

Or possibly not ...

I think you are correct. To add to this I still honback to the "this changes everything" from CH in Warsaw. I think Ben switched his F4 then and in turn the F3 girl became F2. All IMHO.

The new ”Bachelorette” is JoJo Fletcher, whom ”Bachelor” Ben Higgins rejected in favor of his now fiancée, Lauren Bushnell, on Monday night’s finale of “The Bachelor.”

”Bachelorette” crews are slated to film at Nemacolin sometime the last week in March, and in addition to lodging at Nemacolin, JoJo is expected to go on a date at Kennywood, which doesn’t open to the public until May, the reality show gossip website reports."

Hmmm...he didn't look "over her" in that moment.     Oh well, it's all water under the bridge.  She gets to find her own man now!  

I really think that Ben's look is not about him NOT being over Jojo. (I think he is really truly still a smiling-like-an-idiot inlove with Lauren) IMO, that look is about him not being the center of attention anymore. I really think he enjoyed having everyone ask him about being The Bachelor, everyone looking forward to the next episode and being truly caring and supportive of his journey to find love.

When Jojo was announced as Bachelorette, the whole crowd erupted into cheer! Everyone was happy for her! I think that's the only time he truly realized that HE WILL BE OLD NEWS in a few months. Knowing Ben as an only child, he's used to getting all the attention! But unfortunately, there is a new girl in town, Ben, so enjoy your last moments. Explains why in the last few minutes of the ATFR, he said "Ten more minutes while I'm still relevant" and that parting look he gave to the BachNation crowd. He will miss being BEN THE BACHELOR, that is what that look is about.

I'm personally excited for Jojo's season! And all the eye candies coming my way. Personally, too, I enjoy criticizing men and them looking like idiots and cheeseballs for love than picking on the crazy girls in The Bachelor.
