From what I was told, Caila had no idea she was bait if in fact that's what she was. She didn't know until Thursday night they reversed their decision. Whether this was the plan all along IDK.

As far as signing on the dotted line I know Ben didn't sign on the dotted line until he arrived in L.A. Up until then he was promised, without any signatures.

Like I've said in the past, nothing is guaranteed for sure until the limo's arrive.

^^^great post Relaxing and all, my thoughts exactly!! Caila will do well. I seriously could see her hosting a show aimed at teen and tween girls. She is so wholesome and lovely.

And, I have to say that I really don't get comparisons of Jo Jo and Andi, and definitely not Kaitlyn. Those are three very different women. Of all the former leads, the ONLY one I do not think of with at least a couple fond memories is Andi.

I could be eating my words but I think that Jo Jo will bring something new and will be fun to watch. I can't wait for her fantastic outfits.

I'm not doubting you, GA, but the other reason why I think Caila knew earlier than Thursday was because she was 2 hours from home Friday night at a hockey game.  If she was about to leave home for a few months, I'd think she would be busy getting ready to be away.  But I suppose that could have been a last-minute trip.  It's not like you have to get tickets to see the Blue Jackets well in advance.

And GA, may I say how much I appreciate how you shared your news?  It was humble, and pleasant to read as opposed to how RS shares his spoiler info, demanding glory.

I don't think Caila knew while filming the WTA. There was a behind the scenes article where it said that CH kept asking her questions about Ben and basically trying to get her to not be her cheerful self. That's probably why it seemed like she was sad and serious since they had plenty of footage to pick from according to the article.

from Relaxing: I do think Caila was def in their plans though IMO. The quote from an exec early in the season about a diverse Bachelorette proves that IMO. I don't believe everything is orchestrated by TPTB in a bubble without caring about the viewer reaction.

I totally agree with this..the show is a social media behemoth..with both shows in the top 5 most talked about programs. This is a double edged sword for them...great for ad sales but it also gives viewers some power. You can't invite viewers into the conversation as their twitter account, MF and CH, in particular, so often do and then, completely disregard the feedback that you receive. I am more surprised that they didn't anticipate the reaction that they received to Caila earlier though as the comments were out there.

They knew what they were doing. I don't believe for a minute Caila was the producers' first pick. The ABC execs might have been pushing for her because of the whole diversity issue, but the producers want someone who's good television and Caila just isn't (IMO). Perhaps she was a legitimate option until the WTA taping, but I'm sure they knew then at the latest that she wasn't the right fit. Two days later when Caila was sent home on the show, MF started his cat and mouse game with the viewers on Twitter, hinting regularly that Caila is the next Bachelorette. That alone proved that she never was. I suspect he was doing it in part to gather as much negative response as possible so that he could show the higher-ups that the viewers just don't want to watch her. They got exactly who they wanted and made it seem like the viewers did the picking. Business as usual. On top of that they had a foiler, which they needed in order to not spoil the ending of their own show, seeing as JoJo is F2.

It's unfortunate for Caila if they strung her along until the very last minute, but I guess they didn't want to risk word getting out. Seems they had every reason to wait, since word did get out the moment she found out. Perhaps they wouldn't need to string people along to this extent if people weren't such blabbermouths. Not saying it was Caila who blabbed, but someone has been providing GA with info regarding Caila, so it is what it is. I'm just wondering if her Twitter liking spree is something she was ordered to do, or if it's her way of being passive-aggressive.

So Jojo is the bachelorette? Well I will be watching and I dont think Nick will be on even if he likes her. She made a choice and I believe he will respect that.

Nick WILL NOT make a third appearance on the Bachelorette JMO

Mindless..Oh so you think he one upped the top brass..that's such Unreal behavior and you're probably right..definitely, a win/win for him. These folks are a piece of work.

I did think Caila was the top pick at the beginning..for the first few episodes, she did quite well and narrated a lot but then she kind of lost her way (or they chose to present that she did). I always found it odd that they aired that she dumped her BF for TV Ben if she was the chosen one..many viewers didn't forget that based on SM commentary.

I do think Caila was a definite contender, along with JoJo, Amanda, maybe Becca. I think JoJo was always there first pick, but when Ben ended up being in love with her it created an obstacle for them. I do think they created this plan to make it seem like it was Caila, to keep the façade of JoJo possibly winning. I do think they were not going to play Amanda because she has kids or Becca because she's already been on the show twice. But alas the show does this often, leading contestants on, and it all starts in the casting room.

JMOAA, it goes beyond stringing someone along when the family is involved and filming. That is like having someone jump through hoops in anticipation of something good vs jumping through hoops to simply sweat.  It's a learning experience regardless, hopefully a fool me once type thing and she can say bye bye to MF.

This sort of thing happen in scripted tv as well...an actor is cast for a pilot, and then is replaced by another actor after the show is picked up. It's not for the faint of heart. I'm sure Caila knows how contestants are manipulated on the show, and she knew what she was getting into. Hopefully she doesn't do Paradise, we'll see.
