The Bachelor 20 - Ben Higgins - NO SPOILERS - Discussion

There is a finale promo clip of JoJo and Ben on Yahoo, doesn't contain any spoilers, just a bit to give us more to speculate about over the weekend.  I am not IT savy so have not clue how to get it into this thread

Is the video clip that Soph posted above airing on tv now as a commercial for Monday's finale?

Does anyone remember any similar videos from past seasons where a parent of lead is shown giving his/her opinion on screen as to whom the lead 'should' pick? (I know there have been siblings who have chimed in). Were those videos used as a commercial for a finale?

To me, if they air a commercial where Ben's mom is basically saying that she believes Ben's relationship with Jojo is more conducive to a successful marriage (which to me is what she was saying), it would be very hurtful to Lauren and Lauren's family if Lauren is Ben's F1. It would be very embarassing for Mrs Higgins as well. I would hope that TPTB would not stoop so low as to use that soundbite if Lauren is F1. I know that MF is a *^%%$, but would he be so unkind? I don't think so, because showing that clip could potentially tarnish the brand of Ben and Lauren, the perfect little cute couple that's going to live happily ever after. TPTB would want to bury that clip, or any clip, that implies anything at all could possibly be weak in their relationship. I believe they have enough controversy going on with the 2 ILYs. They don't need to stir the pot with a foiler commercial, too.

I think that the conversation that Ben has with his parents (and what occurs after) is going to be one of the most open, honest, gut wrenching things we may have ever seen on this show before. It's going to be fascinating to watch.  Stock up on your Jiffy Pop. It's about to get real.

I thought the same as you about how cruel this would be if Lauren is F1.  However, the other side to this could be that it was taped prior to Mrs. Higgins meeting Lauren.  There may be another segment where she states that after meeting both she cannot say who is better suited.  Just playing advocate.

Hmmmm. What that clip tells me is that Ben and Jojo have not discussed how they would handle a long distance relationship or if one of them would move to be with the other after the finale airs. But at this point in time, we also don't know if he has or hasn't had that conversation with Lauren. I'm guessing that this portion of the LCD is occurring prior to the bathroom floor conversation. So, when Jojo asks "So, are you good?" and Ben replies "That's a loaded question" it may mean that he is milling over in his head HOW he is going to HAVE to have the conversation with Jojo later and tell her that he also loves Lauren. That may be the reason behind his reply. Not that he's not good with Jojo, just that he knows what has to happen that night regarding his confession to her. JMHOAA. Possibly. But, in the clip Mrs Higgins says something about not wanting her comments to be seen as a put down or a judgement of either girl, just simply the opinion that Ben seems to speak of Jojo as being a concerned and thoughful sounding board for her son, someone that would be a good partner in life. The way she says it, it makes me think that she has met both girls by then. She also said (I think) "Jojo is more my style" which implies that Mrs Higgins is comparing her to Lauren, which could only take place after they met. IMO

ETA: Ok, I just rewatched the mom clip. Technically speaking, Mom could have said those comments after only hearing Ben speak about his realtionships with each girl, but I still can't imagine Mom saying "If I had to choose one girl for Ben today..." without first having met both girls. She is choked up and struggling with verbalizing an opinion. There is no way she would have agreed to make such a statement if she hadn't even met 1 or both of the girls in person, IMO. That is too far fetched.

Just an interesting article on those rose ceremonies.  Now, I feel more awful for the women who get sent home during those ceremonies that are filmed as late as 5am the next morning.

It also seems to make more sense that they are crying their eyeballs out when they get sent home even only after the M&g or being in it for a few weeks because for the most part, they lack sleep and very exhausted.

So are we going to be getting a no spoilers sleuthing thread? That would actually make me want to stay unspoiled this upcoming 'ette season.

I hope so. To clarify, my plan is to follow the "guys" discovery - to get their names and info for my blog.

That might mean I hear some early spoilers like F10 mybe.

After that, only sleuthing previews (I will do SCs), ABC info (disney site, etc) and lead's SM post show without looking at comments.

Anything else that can be shared without spoiling I will rely on our admins to pass to us

I haven't 100% decided, but I only want to stay unspoiled if we can sleuth...especially from SCs. From the dialog earlier in this thread, it sounds like we can.

Yes I believe GA will support that, she said she would create threads I can make the SCs. the contestants pages on my blog will be spoiler (as far as the season goes) free, i.e. I only put the info I find, so it will be everyone choice to get to know them before the show or not.

I am going to try to stay unspoiled also. Haven't tried to do that since I discovered this site, but I am going to try.
