The fans will continue to comment for a while regardless. They comment under the sweetest BenLo picture with the cutest caption 'did you guys break up today?!?' It's just easier said than done, publicly admitting to a break up. It'll also raise more questions about why, and bring tabloid attention to them.

I'm also leaning toward them being broken up, but just not ready to say it out loud in public. Jmo.

Yes. This. 100%. That fake marriage complicated things for them. They are either the first Bachelor divorce (except not really), or liars who put on a fake little televised wedding. Maybe they are hoping through LOTS of silence, people just forget and move on. Then they don't need to address the weirdness/silliness of it at all.

I don't think "anybody" regardless if they are reality tv people or otherwise "owe" anyone an explanation, but let's face it--sometimes having a short, simple statement can help squelch some speculation.
There will always be gossipy people those that are curious, fans, whatever. 
Coming out and making a short statement about their status if terminated will put at least some things to rest. IMO

How many fans do they realistically have? They are a spin off couple from a few years ago. But yeah - a simple statement would end this discussion and then they could just both move on. I truly think they are trying to avoid explaining why it's not a divorce. The "wedding" just really complicated the break up.

Maybe something was stated in their contract with abc about waiting a certain period of time before they could talk about the non marriage. It's not going to reflect well on CH or abc when it does come out that it was fake.

I still don't think they need to answer fans in any way, until they're ready, no matter how their relationship started. The fans got what they 'paid' for. To see them get together, an marry on tv. Any other 'demands' after that doesn't happen when fans want it, it's not their relationship. They might never comment on their relationship status, and just move on, if they've broken up, and that's their right. I've read so many 'we're entitled to answers' on their IG comments, and that's just crazy. Jmo.

I don't think they owe anyone necessarily, but I do think they should do one of two things - make a statement and end the speculation or turn their SM to private.

I am going to debate this just because I can and it's what I do here. So this is certainly nothing towards the poster(beloved member) and everything toward the unique idea presented.
Keep in mind this does not reflect my personal views. It reflects an idea.
Many in SM now follow a cast person or couple for--idk what I label this weird trend as the schadenfreude effect which(IMOAA) is a feeling of enjoyment that comes from seeing or hearing about the troubles of other people. IMOAA it's sick, but something I think is very real.  Entitled--yes, IMOAA, it is, but then so many feel entitled about so much now-a-days imo, what difference does it make. It does not make it right, imo, but it makes it the way it is. And in conclusion--it's not going to stop. It won't stop due to the schadenfreude effect, until it's put to rest which in this case, the relationship would be defunct.
And I hope this is my last edit on this thought, but for simple evidence of this made up effect(by myself) all we have to do is read other "discussion" threads on other cast or couples. And it's ok by me(as long as it falls within site rules). Discussion is good.

I'm not what you would call a fan of this couple but do agree that it may be for the best to just issue a statement that they're no longer together if that's the case. I don't think there has to be any explanation about the marriage being real or not. If tabloids are interested then they may be asked about it but I'm not so sure that they are.

Unless of course they like all the attention this speculation is bringing them and then they will probably keep it going. Personally, I wouldn't understand that route. Either admit what's going on or go social media silent if the speculation is too much.
