That's how I saw it as well. "Counseling" doesn't automatically mean psychological counseling. It means giving guidance in general, a consultation. They were probably just advising him on what to do.
I'm no more shocked after reading that police report than I was before reading it. Yes, sounds like he was acting a bit crazy, but it's not like he didn't have a reason to. Doesn't excuse his behaviour, but I don't think it's his usual behaviour either. Sounds like it was a pretty serious relationship since they moved to Arizona together and then she's cheating on him with his co-worker and possibly his brother as well. That'll mess with anyone's mind. If I was cheating on someone and then complained about them being jealous, that would be a bit hypocritical, no? Seems like the anger management class worked, since he hasn't repeated his offense in 8.5 years. He does seem a tad desperate when it comes to women, but that doesn't make him a wife beater. JMO.
I get calling out the show for their dodgy casting decisions, but it doesn't seem to be affecting them in any way. It's basically just free press for them. It's David and his family who are hurt by digging all this up and making it public, not the show. I don't think he's done anything to deserve it.

Then why is he still saying it? I just don't know what the truth is yet. I'm not an Ashley (or David) supporter, but I do think she had a right to be briefed on it before marrying him.

Yes she should have been briefed and remove from the show, the producers are a manipulated bunch. A different couple should have been given the chance instead.

I'm not a "fan" of either one of them. But *IF* any of ^^^^ this stuff about David really had anything to do with Ashley's decision to divorce, why didn't she say so?? She went back to the stupid email. Lame.

She just wasn't into him right from the beginning and had no intention of even trying. It has nothing to do with his past. Right or wrong, IMO he was treated like crap by her. She is the one who applied to be on this ridiculous show. She should have thought about all the consequences or the possibility of different situations, example, she can't stand the site of him. She should have thought how she would handle it.
She chose to be a rude inconsiderate person with no empathy for his feelings. Just because you don't like someone in the intimate frame of mind, it doesn't mean you have the right to treat the other person like crap. Just be honest, and tell him she's not going to try and will just stick it out and try and have fun. She chose the other route, as if it was all his fault.

It is interesting that so many feel that Ashley didn't forth any emotional effort towards a marriage. David clearly felt she did. He related that there were instances off camera of cuddling, kissing, sharing meals and long talks. Ashley was very adamant that David's feelings were respected. Numerous times she stated that he was very nice to her and she was growing fonder of him.
IMO David enjoyed playing the martyr and portrayed himself as the poor, scorned man. While they obviously had communication issues, they both claim that they remained sleeping in the same bed. That, if true, is really indicative of effort on behalf of both of them.
So will MAFS cast yet another man with a criminal background without telling the brides?

For me, I don't really care what they did off camera, I didn't see it. It's what I've seen on camera, her SM, her attitude and her ridiculous whining with no basis for whining IMO, that tells me what type of person she is.
When I compare the one with the criminal background and the one without, I'd say one of them is much more mature, and kind, that the other who doesn't have a criminal background. She has not tweeted at all this evening, no mention what so ever to watch or anything.

I couldn't agree more, so again, it begs the question, how real are his proclamations of falling for her? The fact he continues to profess his growing emotions for her, given everything we have seen, does not make him "classy", IMO it makes him a lot of other things, at the very least a liar.

My assumption (only) is that the text gate issue was an agreed public version of why everything went wrong. That and the opening obstacle, recorded on tape at the wedding before she knew about these charges, that she didn't find him attractive. She was paid to continue in the relationship for TV purposes after one of the original couples dropped out, is my belief. There are gag orders so we won't really know. Also speculate and assume he was paid to continue. I don't buy for one minute that he worked hard and had any personal inclination to continue on with this person. I think it's mostly faked to save face. I just can't get away from the fact that season two was imploding at the same exact time these events were unfolding, and then one couple dropped out and Sam and Neil were a replacement. I think she found David to be a sadsack loser that she was not going to be married to. I also don't think these charges are the be-all and end all I think she found David to be a sadsack loser that she was not going to be married to. I also don't think these charges are the be-all and end-all for her. They are a small but public part of why this was a crappy in doomed match but it's something she can push back about in the public domain because these are public records and others can bring them forward. The gag order prevents her from Discussing the full range of her reasons for quitting on this from day one. This whole paragraph is my speculation.
As loyal bachelor watchers know viewers only see a small fraction of what actually happened to the real people for mix of reasons.
