Kaitlyn Bristowe - Shawn Booth - Bachelorette 11 - #2 - Discussion

My view of her has not changed after TEDx talk, she is that surface level liar we always know she is. She wasted a good chance of showing some substance, but I guess this was too much for her. She was a different b'ette for sure, but not in a good way.

As someone who IS the target audience for TEDx/TED events, I have and can again restate unequivocally that TEDx's target audience couldn't care less about reality-TV stars. These are people are more invested in making a positive and lasting change in their communities and society and one which is based on evidence/action/results and not cheap words. So while her talk may be enjoyable or interesting, the sole purpose for the TEDx community for speakers is to inspire action and thus results. Without action, talk is meaningless. And a talk from a reality-tv person like Kaitlyn whose claim to fame is having sex before the FS while being mic'd is meaningless when it comes to things that truly matter from a TEDx purpose perspective.

ETA: From what I have been told, Kaitlyn was not exactly received very well by this target audience and not surprisingly given she has done nothing in comparison to the fellow speakers to even remotely make sense for her being there. Furthermore, I was informed by a few people working on the show that they changed course and didn't go with anti-bullying as her main topic and rather just her being a reality-tv person even though anti-bullying/cyber-bullying was what had been spun for her to be about. Again, not surprising since she has no history of making any strides towards changing this. I imagine if they had focused on that there would have been some backlash since she is no pioneer for that cause. So just being  a reality-star with her business and brand was the approach they took. In a word - meaningless. JMO

How long was her Q & A?

If this was the topic they switched to rather than pursue the anti-bullying which clearly she has done nothing for, what exactly was the business and the brand? Surely she must have mentioned what it is? How can you have a discussion about her business and her brand without explaining what it is? It all just seems so bizarre to me.

^ I think what she meant is maybe now that she is no longer a bachelorette and her season is over and she is engaged and found what she is looking for and experiencing such a good life by what they are doing now flying here and there and do other stuff related to promotions there you go the building of her own  brand is coming in the pic . Maybe she means that must be she is very  focus on it . She is Kaitlyn the former bachelorette and being known and that means making herself to something that she can involve herself from fashions , blogging , promos , guestings and lately by them involving charities and the travel life they have and how the impact of the sm like their SC to the people and slowly her building her brand is growing coz of the audience they have not so sure what she meant but  just my opinion.

From what I understand from the couple of people here that actually saw her session, she said that she went on the show to build her brand. That means that that was the plan all along. Hence, they aren't just coming to it now. She must have had some idea of WTH she was planning to brand right from the start. If so, then why did she waste the best time to promote...whatever...right after her season when she was still news? Just seems very strange and downright bad business to me. Of course, based on her performance on her own show, not exactly surprising!

^I think AAL said that is what she is saying now she went to build her own brand by being the bachelorette. This is after the show . Although she also said before doing the show , she is there to find love which she found . So maybe now that her season is over and she found what she is looking for and engaged . It might be switch to focusing on building her brand by what she is doing right now or rather they do right now. I mean if she said in the beginning about her purpose on going the show that she wants to build her own brand . What do you think the public will say to her ? knowing it's bachelorette show a dating show . Jmo .

She says whatever she feels like saying whenever she feels like saying it. It doesn't matter if it contradicts what she's said or done yesterday and it doesn't matter if it contradicts what she'll do or say tomorrow. It is her world and she thinks she is the centre.

I understand that she couldn't have come out and said I'm here to market my brand so make me the Bachelorette before the show started or even during the show. That doesn't mean that she couldn't have prepared the ground work and been ready to hit the ground running as soon as her season was finished...particularly as she seemed to have found her Prince Charming. She could have presented herself as a serious business woman and a successful Bette. If this was her plan all along, she would have known that and that the best time to take advantage to market herself would have been right after her season when she was doing interviews and was still somewhat relevant. It makes absolutely no sense unless, yet again, she is flying by the seat of her pants...living in the moment...and spouting whatever comes to her and she thinks sounds good.

If she was truly a smart business woman, entrepreneur, she would have been prepared to take advantage of the opportunities the Bette platform afforded her. Instead, to me, it seems either she lied about the branding plan being the plan from the get go or she got really ticked off during the season and the edit afterwards because it didn't go the way she wanted, that she basically threw a hissy fit and bit off her nose to spite her face. I am actually more inclined to believe the latter. It goes along with her the "in the moment" persona and all about me personality.

What I am curious about now, since she seems to have pulled herself together...momentarily...and apparently decided to follow some PR advice, what exactly is it she is branding? This was a good opportunity to showcase...whatever...and I have yet to hear anyone mention exactly what she plans on doing/marketing/selling. It sounds as if her PR firm marketed her as this anti bullying spokesperson to the conference and they accepted that until someone realised she wasn't and then the plan switched to the reality star/branding shtick. Either way, it seems as if yet again, things didn't quite go as planned. Let's see how she handles things this time....does she actually pull up her sleeves and get to work or is it party time once again?

Many of us have said after her season ended, and it appeared they had no intentions of settling back into the real world, by roaming aimlessly around the country that there were many things they could be doing. They chose to snapchat their partying lives away, without any focus on anything meaningful.

Whatever her intentions were of going on TB those intentions obviously changed once she was heartbroken that she wouldn't be living in Iowa and was let go. Intentions and goals change I understand that but if I forget all that, six months have passed, and if it wasn't for Movember they've accomplished nothing IMO.

She stated that she stopped advertising products on SM because her fans didn't like, and OTOH she posts the more you care what others think the less authentic you are.

I'm glad they are in love, and she has Shawn wrapped around her little finger. He's just follows her around in adoration regardless of the digs. Sometimes those digs brew inside and add up. I'm just not a fan of embarrassing your significant other whether it's done in fun or not, it's just not my type of relationship.

^^^ Well she did say she wants someone who would let her take center stage and clearly he does. More and more Kaitlyn reminds me of Andi. Entitled and aimless. Shawn has gone from an alpha male to a puppy following her around. They at least seem to get along with both families so I expect this relationship to last longer but eventually, he might want his manhood back.

Just for clarification purposes, in response to a poster on IG, K did state that she went on the Bachelor to build her brand but upon realizing it was possible to find love on the show, she went on to be the Bachelorette to find love.

Regarding her relationship with Shawn, seeing as we only get glimpses through SM and interviews, so we really don't know all the dynamics of their relationship other than it seems to be working for now.

Time will tell.

The two are not mutually exclusive. She could have done both...Des did.

It just seems to me that she is talking out of both sides of her mouth depending on the audience. And I have yet to have an answer to what exactly it was she was going to brand. Her conference discussion was about reality tv and building the brand. WTH did she talk about? Seriously. She must have said something at least remotely relevant. She can't have gone from being a speaker on anti bullying to a speaker on branding and then to just talking about how she decided she was actually just going on the show to find love. It makes absolutely no sense to me!

Yes, I do have to agree that their relationship seems to be working...for now. Same was said about Andi and Josh and time did tell.
