Sorry for the double post... but I am just in tears at the amazingly inspirational speech by Matthew Williams, Special Olympics athlete who has won two medals.

If anyone understands bullying, this young man does as he pleads for the world to stop using the R word. He himself was in tears stating how as a Special Olympics athlete he finally has dignity, respect, and no longer is invisible or bullied and can't believe he is speaking at a TEDx talk!

Matthew received the longest standing ovation for the entire day (only two so far, the other was to incredibly inspiring international journalist, Mohamed Fahmy, who was imprisoned for over a year). This is what TEDx is truly about. What an inspiration. Bravo!

Well, Kaitlyn never gave a speech. She was interviewed by the host. The overall message of her "interview" was about branding and followers and little else. She said she went on the show as the Bachelorette to build her brand and that she stopped selling/hawking stuff on her IG because her followers didn't like it (so she doesn't care what people think but she does care about what people think). Even though she said she went for her branding, later in the interview she said she went on for love so that is why she was "herself" and was real on manufactured reality-tv.  It's all contradictory, as seems to be Kaitlyn's MO and this idea of "blame them, not myself" seems to be her common theme that she is consistent about (one of the few things).

Lol at her saying she's not selling/hawking stuff on IG anymore. I think she needs to take a look at her own account.

And thank goodness they were smart enough to not give her an actual speaking slot. #SmallVictories

Oh and Kaitlyn said she has never experienced real life bullying but cyber-bullying only since she was the Bette at 30 years of age and that one of the worst cyber-bullying she ever experienced was a woman who photoshopped her face in a trashbin.

This girl lives in a fantasy world with no concept of "reality" or real hardship or trauma, IMHO.

And I say this
... in light of real world horrors and what has transpired these 24 hours in Paris with terror attacks and people dying
... in light of what Special Olympics athlete speaker at TEDx today talked about his real life bullying as someone with real disabilities
... in light of fellow TEDx speaker and international journalist who was imprisoned for over a year with real ISIS criminals and truly suffered

I can only say that Kaitlyn's world is so sheltered that she only views the world through a silver-spoon lens where social media followers and "lifestyle" branding as a reality-tv person is the worst thing going in her partying, snapchatting, life.  

It's sad, really. Very sad.

Pardon my language, but what in hell is she going to brand? Having sex on TV with multiple men? Drinking? Not having a job?

One of the most ridiculous things I find about Kaitlyn is how she says she is authentic and real.
If she was real then she would state BEFORE she goes on reality-tv that her intentions are solely to build her brand, not AFTER the fact.
That she (or anyone else) says this after the fact only proves how manipulative and dishonest they are.

If Kaitlyn were truly honest, then she would be honest from the getgo.
Heck, why didn't she tweet while Chris Soules season was airing that she wants to be the Bette so she can build her brand since she is so honest?
Or why not have it has her profile bio: "Kaitlyn Bristowe: Vote me for Bette 11 so I can build my brand".

Kaitlyn never let it be known her intention was to solely build her brand before being cast as the Bette b/c otherwise viewers wouldn't have been behind her if she said she was only doing it for self-branding (which she can NOW say and get praised for?!).
And the thing is it doesn't matter if everyone does it for self-branding.. it's that Kaitlyn claims SHE is the authentic and most real Bette ever.

Kaitlyn's whole "being real" shtick seems to only matter when it suits HER.
That is NOT what being authentic or real means though, but given her track record, Kaitlyn has her own definition for many things so no surprise here.

Not true first of all.
There are many, many people in this world whose real self is terrible and heinous.
I think it would be more accurate to say one's best self should be one's real self.

Wow I am surprised that is what she said about after being a lead star on the bachelorette show "to build her brand " wow! And loling her saying she stop posting ads on her ig because of her followers doesn't like it . I just saw she is still posting . oh Kaitlyn

Nope. That would be too "real" and not fall under Kaitlyn's category of "real".

If anything, Kaitlyn should thank Nick for giving her the opportunity to get to be the first Bette to have mic'd sex before FS.
Without him, she wouldn't likely be on that TEDx stage.

No, and I'm glad she didn't subject the audience to that . This was not about Nick.
