Exactly, because I don't think a majority of the viewing audience viewed Nick's comeback favorably. Some folks were threatening not watching anymore. They will keep watching of course.
Whether it ends good or bad for Nick 2.0, I can see why they are making him less villainous.

THEN the switch is flipped
You can go back a couple of pages for what I'm describing I've pulled social media posts and descriptions on the abc website but the latest CH blog post, US weekly article are all in line with this. K has been consistent with a very positive image of Nick from the onset -- explaining his reasons as being cos he has strong feelings for her and even mentioning that he left work and got a 1 way plane ticket so K's stance has stayed the same. It's tptb view that's changed. It's very clear to me that before last week around when we first got a glimpse of the US Weekly article (in the media no discussion thread) they decided to go a different route! I'm still sooo confused why... curious to hear others thoughts on this including why it might be cos I really think tbtb has an agenda or they won't be doing this just to be nice...the curious thing is it's after airing began so could it be based on audience reaction?? but what aspect of it...
Thanks so much for posting this emusha. I'm not following so closely this season.
Chris Manson the snake. Wow, just wow!!
I think the only aim of TPTB is to fan the fire, and the higher the better.
Their motivations may or may not have anything to do with the ending... but it certainly doesn't bode well for a Nick F1 finish...

Can an elderly sluether remind me did Ali talk much about Chris L when it was her season in the blogs? or media discribing him regularly as Kait is doing to Shawn?

Re: The Bachelorette 11 - Kaitlyn Bristowe - Britt Nilsson - Edit Analysis - *Sleuthing - Spoilers*
I have not been following social media this season on account of being bamboozled and burned in the past by it. Also ignoring the spoilers, although I can now gather that Nick makes it into the finale with Shawn... am I right?
Nick COULD be the one she chooses in the end or she can't make up her mind because of him, as many are speculating here. It just doesn't appear that way to me... right now, but I might change my tune in future episodes. Another possibility is that Nick will redeem his previous "evil" reputation by "falling for" Kaitlyn later, but suffer rejection and take it better than he did with Andi... and gaining public sympathy. He said he is not here to be The Villain this time. (To be perfectly frank, none of the guys this season except Nick would terribly interest me as the next Bachelor, although it is still early enough in the season to see them "fleshed out" more.)
Already Nick has the reputation as The One Who Accused Andi For "Making Love" To Him Before Dumping Him. Chris Harrison and the other media reporters are milking this in practically every article online and in print. Even the ET interviewer asked her directly if she had sex with Nick and she just smirked in reaction. In fact, the way so many in the media are taking us back down memory lane, it makes me wonder if his ATFR performance with Andi is THE most important part of his pre-show storyline. Even the guys bring it up in the promos.
He also was the one called out by Marcus, Chris Soules and Cody for being "calculating" (even though these guys may also be friends off show), so we also have the "is he genuine or not?" question as well... resembling Frank and Bentley's edits already.
Obviously casual viewers watching the seasonal promos are assuming that Nick "had sex" with her simply because she says those words over him seated, listening to her (in frankenbyte promo editing), and because he is, again, The One Who Accused Andi For "Making Love" To Him Before Dumping Him.
I do think Nick is the "relationship that went too fast" and ruined her relationships with multiple guys on the show, but was his relationship with her actually "consummated" as so many are assuming?
For me, these are the EDIT possible "signs" that point to Shawn, not Nick, as the more likely F1 and possibly the relationship she "consummates".
1.) Shawn's limo arrival had a HUGE impact on Kaitlyn's motivation for being the Bachelorette, as commented not just by her on screen, but also Britt observing. She even rushed into the mansion right after him. ("Hey guys! I just snuck in here to say *hi*... and you guys are SSSSSOOOOO handsome! It won't be too much longer, but you guys are killing it!")
2.) Not that we should make too much of face-shots over key words, we nonetheless have the following key scenes in episode 1. Whether they are "clues" or simply "red herrings" to fool us, YOU decide:
-After Kaitlyn says "my husband is in that room", Shawn says... right after... that Kaitlyn is "the best fit for the Bachelorette".
-In front of the guys, Harrison says as the camera zooms in on Shawn: "you chose a woman that... my true hope is that... one of you gentlemen will find everlasting love with."
-After Kaitlyn enters the room, Shawn is again showcased... and gives a sigh of relief with a sign of the cross in his PI session.
-Kaitlyn says her heart is pounding out of her chest when Shawn is shown... again.
3.) When Harrison is talking to Kait after he sent Britt away, he asks "You think your husband might be in that room?" She answers "I felt that already... yes." Again, if Nick is her future husband, I... feel... that the editors would have snipped this line.
4.) Another scene that I suspect would have been snipped out if Nick is F1.
Kaitlyn calls her mom on the phone, crying over the news about becoming 'ette.
The next shot shows guys talking, then Shawn is shown in PI again: "I have no clue what's gonna happen tonight. It makes me a little nervous because I told Britt that I was here for Kaitlyn. I am hoping and praying that Kaitlyn is the Bachelorette."
Next shot has Kaitlyn again crying so happy to be Bachelorette on the phone. Mom is heard saying "Go meet my future son in law"
5.) Although these lines pre-date Nick, they were left in the edit for a reason (and, again, I kinda doubt would have been included if Nick was F1)
K: "Shawn gives me the feeling that I was looking for tonight".
S: "I believe in love at first sight and I really think it might have happened tonight when I saw Kaitlyn out of the limo."
K: "In this moment, I feel good. This is the closest I felt to love at first sight."
***Now... THIS last line could work its way into a pro-Nick F1 edit too if we get nick-picky. "In this moment" only refers to a pre-Nick situation and maybe not "later" (even though she is only discussing "feeling good"). Also we do not know yet if she was CLOSER to "love at first sight" when Nick arrived. No such words have been used yet, apart from what Harrison tells us about her "lighting up".
(Oh... she also finds Shawn cuuuute.)
6.) The out-take from last week of him giving her his T-shirt ("that smells like him") to sleep in.
7.) The hip-hop group date when she says she can't remember anything Shawn sang or said the very moment he lifted his shirt. Clearly her mojo was heightened in that moment. Compare this scene with Chris Cupcake fleetingly undressing his shirt at the Improv in an earlier episode, during the comedy sketches. Although Kaitlyn praises Chris, she doesn't show any genuine attraction to his body. Likewise, he was partly shirtless in the Aladdin musical (and certainly works out in the gym), but she hardly touched him. In addition, you can also contrast stripper Josh, on night 1, forcing her to touch him... and her response that Britt can have "this one".
8.) I do agree that it is possible all of the Shawn face-shots during the Nick discussion could suggest that their relationship is now *doomed* with Nick in the picture. However, it can still successfully be interpreted as the opposite: Nick ultimately has no impact on Kait/Shawn at all and she is giving Shawn clarification with key words. Although not all of "possible clues" 1-7 could be used to "prove" Shawn being F1, there are enough puzzle pieces to suggest that he will get through the Nick "situation" better than the other guys.
9.) Although the seasonal promos have no cookie cutter pattern, it is rather interesting how many of Shawn's scenes line up with previous F1s in Bachelorette promos (not Bachelor, since they are a separate species that has much more variation in format). Each F1 gets either one or two prominent shots with her in the first third section of the promo... even Ed in Jillian's season (despite how hidden he was elsewhere on account of his departure). Her line of "my husband" spoken over Shawn, Jared and the two Bens resembles Willie Holman commenting on the verb "marry" over JP and Ash in Hong Kong... and Emily wanting to meet her husband over Jef Holm, Mister Bukowski and others (even if none wound up as her husband). His "the emotions are insane right now" right before a key JJ/Clint scene echoes Roberto concerned about somebody (Kasey) hurting himself, JP commenting that somebody is "full of s**t" and later voice-overing "things are getting out of hand" with Willie Holman all upset running, Jef commenting on guys saying things about Emily, Chris Siegfried "seeing through this" James business, and Josh commenting on Andi being upset. They like these guys to sound sympathetic. In contrast, Nick's scenes are consolidated to the center third section (his "Don't make out with the girl I like before I do" being shown after she claims at the Improv that she has kissed everybody). No doubt this is because of his middle season arrival, but also more like the dumpees/departees in the other promos.
I've been fooled by the editing many, MANY times before, so I am still keeping an open mind about both guys, even if the golf ball is still (temporarily at least) in Shawn's court.
It is interesting how frequently, Harrison discusses Shawn in interviews... even putting him and Nick on equal footing (but still listing Shawn first). In his blog for episode 2, he commented that Shawn's kiss was better than Cupcake's.
To credit Jared, had he handled the Nick situation any differently, that date would have been a disaster. He handled it with such grace and was able to sway Kaitlyn away from worrying about Nick. He's a good guy and maybe they don't have the chemistry that she and Shawn do or she and Nick, but how well he treats her -- any woman would be attracted to a man like that.

I thought how her interviews have gone that the person she had the sex with is not the one she chooses? She is also contradicting how long she has been talking to Nick?

Don't know what to make of this tangled web. They always throw bones towards the main dogs in the hunt to confuse the audience and it is interesting to spot those. In the show teaser of the season the most important line in my opinion is "May the best man win." said as Nick appears around the corner where he dip kisses Kaitlyn.

Frankly, just because CH gave an interview to Robin Ross where he didn't mock/insult Nick like he did in the earlier one, doesn't convince me that there is going to be an overall shift in his edit. I still think he'll be the villain for the rest of the season. IMO, CH softened his view of Kaitlyn more than of Nick, by defending her decision to keep him around, because the producers don't want viewers to hate on her so much for it that they tune out. As a result, he said fewer insulting things about Nick. But he still said that Nick doesn't care about the guys, and that he "cluelessly" expected them to respect him. That's not very complimentary IMO.
We'll have to just wait and see, but I suspect there is a lot more coming.

The problem and charm (for those of us that love him) of Nick is that he plays by his own rules. I imagine in his second round around, he may push the shows limits even more than the first time. If I’m someone that’s playing by the rules, that’s definitely going to piss me off.
Either way, I think it was always going to be a stretch to get the initial guys to like him under any circumstances. He’s the competition she personally CHOOSES to add to the mix. Throw in his “I’m here for K and don’t care what you think” attitude… well, watch out, I’m sure sparks are going to fly. It will be interesting to see whether the reported hazing incident is shown or discussed.

Again... many will not agree with me, but I see Nick more of a candidate for next Bach than any of the other guys, except maybe Ben Z. (and partly because he has a favorable following here). If anything, none of us would be bored with a season of Nick, regardless of how it ends. Shawn in particular lacks "wow" factor on screen... all the more reason why he appears F1-ish to me. The ones off the market are often edited as the least interesting. I like Jared, but he and Chris are so "on" all the time with stock lines delivered on cue. The other Ben hasn't gotten much screen time. Hope everybody gets more story material later.
If Nick does become Bach, I hope they include a guest appearance by John Lithgow... just so I can figure out something that has bugged me.

I thought because of my bias that I'm not interested in him, or because there is "history" with Nick that brings a whole other dimension to this season, but I guess I'm not alone in thinking that.JBF wrote:***snipped*** Shawn in particular lacks "wow" factor on screen... all the more reason why he appears F1-ish to me.
