Ian Thomson - Bachelorette 11 - *Spoilers - Sleuthing* - Discussion

I actually felt angry at him. That's when I know I need to step away from the tv and go help build a house for charity or something. I hope she doesn't start crying but rather goes psychotic on him.

Ian is an a-hole for lack of better words. Who says something like "my ex gf was much hotter" and "I have a lot of sex"?? What an ego, it's funny that he played the nice mature guy but then his true colours came out. Reminded me of farmer Chris going off at JJ at Andi's MTA.

There might be a reason his ex-girlfriend is his ex-girlfriend.

 Each season TPTB highlight - and possibly create - a scene where a contestant humbles the Bachelorette. Frank did it to Ali, Bentley did it to Ashley, Brooks did it to Des and Eric did it to MEandI. It's as if TPTB can't allow the female lead to have complete control over the male contestants. 

This also seemed like an audition for Ian to become the Bachelor, reminding me of what MeandI did with JPG.

I think the combination of his embarrassment at doing a crappy job with the singing (which he believes is his "talent") and realizing that he wasn't one of Kaitlyn's favorites was too much for his "extremely healthy" ego to bear and he snapped. A lot of sour grapes there, and wanting to reject Kaitlyn in a big way before he was rejected by her. I have no doubt that he is an intelligent guy, and more intellectual (and maybe more "cultured/sophisticated") than Kaitlyn and most of the other guys, and that the producers also egged him on, but he really made himself look like an idiot, and he's delusional if he actually thought his rant would help his candidacy to be the next lead.

Exactly! I am disappointed with how Ian evolved on the show. I am hoping it's more editing than reality but gosh, hard to unsay some of the things he said last night.

I was unspoiled until yesterday and had been hoping that things were going to heat up with him and Kaitlyn. Last night was not what I had in mind.

His remarks to Kaitlyn also totally reminded me of Andi's rehearsal for Bachelorette after FS date with JuanPa. Just as her antics and over the top acting turned me off ... so too did Ian. He was totally rehearsed and probably had a producer egging him on at every step. At least when Eric called out Andi, he did it in a very kind and gentle way (and he was right!)

Oh well ... looks like Ian's not going on BIP either and doubt he's got a shot on Bachelor. Bummer. He really did some like the total package at one point.

Can't wait to see him face Kaitlyn at the Mens tell All now that he has seen the show and how he acted.

I have to re-watch but I found it interesting how RS noted so much of the offensive stuff was in voice overs, meaning we have no idea when he said it, under what prodding, or in what context. Much would make sense as a pre-show interview, for example. I'd like to give him the benefit of the doubt. Certainly he was a fish out of water on this show, much more intelligent and well-rounded than most of the other cast members, so I "get" that he might have felt out of place, but somehow I don't think he would have, at the time of his exit, intentionally rubbed it in all of their faces like that.

MVMom I had the same thought listening to Ian and comparing it to Andi's speech to JPabs. It's shameful the way he went out of his way, for two days, practicing what he would say in order to be the most hurtful.

Kaitlyn looks completely dumfounded while Ian spews. I hope she is able to chew him up and spit him out - and without 2 days of speech writing.

Slicing and dicing aside. All those words came out of his mouth.

Kait said in her blog what girl wouldn't want to be with a guy that can protect her if came to a fight, or something like that. However, since she's "single" while filming the show, is it too much to ask that SHE'LL be the one rearrange Ian's face for him tonight after his "speech?" Total dbag.

Ya, c'mon Kaitlyn - put those boxing lessons to use! The guy deserves a spectacular sendoff.
