I'm guessing it's him talking about being bullied.

He started opening up about being bullied. It still affects him.mtnlvr55 wrote:Why?Thomigirl wrote:Poor Sean

The real Sean?
I personally would take anything he says on the show with a grain of salt. I'm not trying to be a bad person about it, but I know the guy pretty well on an admittedly somewhat superficial level, but have been around the guy on a regular basis for a few years. Knowing him, I am sure he reads every single site, blog, forum, etc. so I won't go into detail about our relationship (not a bitter ex). The thing that I do know about him is that he is a habitual, pathological liar. Maybe this will come out as an issue on the show, maybe not. The guy goes around telling people he meets that he is a DOCTOR. Not sure how he planned to keep up with this façade after going on television and coming out as a nurse. He has told this lie to so many people, in graphic detail, over long periods of time complete with stories from the ER and other accolades from his fine work as a M.D. All lies. There are other repetitive lies as well, but no need to air ALL of the guy's dirty laundry...I don't think he is a bad/evil person, but he's got some serious issues...maybe a result of all the bullying he endured as a kid, he now feels the need to over-compensate and tell boastful lies. Its just hard to gauge the validity of the level of bullying he claims to have endured when he lies so much. He also told someone that his marriage ended in divorce on the show...again as a pathological liar, I guess we will have to continue watching to find out the truth...

I would hate to think all that psychological testing and analysis could result in a pathological liar being married off to a stranger. Yikes is right.

Interesting. Must say I do find this plausible, and factors in to Mom and Dad dim view of the idea of TV cameras following their son on this experiment. The psychologists have such confidence that their instruments control for liars and people seeking to game the test. I can't see how he would survive well in Manhattan. Just to be that way about it.
Dr. C seemed to think that D and S had each matured and done the "work" necessary to recover from past social trauma, etc., and were ready to be open and honest. I have a cousin who (as a child/teen) pathologically boasted in ways we found endlessly comical, but ultimately sort of sad.
As he eventually attained very substantial professional success, those behaviors receded and disappeared. Maybe he has matured.

Good points. It will be interesting to watch. Several scenes last night with Sean made me pause.
1 Housekeeping/lost ring ... We all know that they filmed the scene; why didn't they show us any of it? Is it possible because viewers would have been too turned off by Sean? He certainly made a point of apologizing on camera while in the taxi for his actions and we know that Davina did not witness it as she stayed in room looking for ring so he was not apologizing to her nor did he need to disclose to her. I think he was covering his butt in case they did air the scene.
2. Tears in taxi ... When Sean started to cry in the taxi because of how he responded to the lost ring with staff at hotel, I thought that was more manipulative than sad. I could be wrong and his feelings are still that raw about being bullied as a teen. If that is the case, IMO he still might need therapy to recover and/or anger management. I also think that his words even made Davina feel a little guilty for putting him in that position (and he knew that they would).
3. Snoring ... I am nitpicking but could not tell if he was kidding about the snoring when he denied it or if he was serious. But, it just seems like him not taking responsibility or not willing to admit any fault. I hope Davina stays strong.
4. Constant making out ... Kind of reminds me of the Bachelor/Bachelorette's old motto of when at a loss for words, make out instead. It's clear she is trying to put some space between them and trying to get to know each other more. I hope he respects that and she doesn't cave in before she is ready.
Even with the above 4 "eyebrow raises," I 100 percent believe that Sean is redeemable and this could be my misperceptions. They could indeed be great match. That gift exchange of both getting each other lock/key was super freaky (in a good way!).
It will be interesting to see what happens in episode 3. While I was not as "sold" on them in episode 2 as I was on episode 1, I am going to try and stay open minded as I really want to see Davina happy (and Sean from ep 1 happy too ).
