I in no way think Chris is settling if picking Whitney or that she's a default.  I loved Chris' giddiness after their first date.  But I also do think he has strong romantic feelings for Becca and is trying to convince himself it could work with her.  That Becca isn't a propped up F2 story script or edit, but has grabbed a real place in his heart.
