Bachelor 19 - Chris Soules - Episode 8 - Monday Feb 16 - *Spoilers & Sleuthing* - Discussion

Just finished watching the episode and feel like I got a lot of questions answered. I'm just a casual viewer this season, so I'm not really invested in it, or any of the participants but here are my thoughts anyway.

Chris wasn't as into Britt as he initially was, so her leaving won't really affect the outcome of who he chose in the end... meaning I don't think that he "settled" for his F1. Britt's departure reminded me of Alli leaving... remember the hallway scene?? Methinks we just might be getting set up for an Alli 2.0

Was extremely happy to see Carly leave right after. I liked her at the beginning but I didn't care for the vindictive, catty person she ended up being. I think I know why she's single. I have a feeling she's like the friend of Kate Hudson in "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days"......if you've seen the movie you'll know what I'm talking about.

Whitney seems to be the best fit for him, as she seems to be the right amount of silly for him, plus all the other things important for compatibility.

Kaitlyn has grown on me, would watch her as the next lead if she was.

Jade, is sweet and I wish her well in whatever she does.

Becca, seems to be so grounded and has a good head on her shoulders. Really like her but don't see her as a match for Chris. She's not silly enough and I'm not saying that in a sarcastic way about Chris just that I think Chris can be goofy and fun loving and I have a hard time seeing Becca being able to do that. Also think she's too serious to be the next lead.

^^ Have you read Becca's tweets? The girl is hilarious! Someone tweeted earlier in the season (when she was basically invisible), "Who the h*** is Becca? Someone else tweeted that "she is the voice of reason". She had a witty comeback with, "So, now we know who Becca is." "She is the voice of reason." Girl cracks me up!

Wanted to add my two cents on Becca getting back to back 1-on-1 dates and think it was all producer prodding/selection and need to develop their love story for a credible F2 since prior lead contenders crash and burning. Here's a look at F6

1) Carly needed to be on group date with Britt since she was chomping at bit to tell Chris about Britt. Also, it made sense for Carly to be on group date as she was already on chopping block and lucky to be even in Iowa.

2) Kaitlyn also best for group date. Viewers already know that Chris liked her with the early date and group date roses so it's a no brainer she is going to HTDs. But, production also knows that Kaitlyn was keeping Chris in her friend zone and wasn't credible for F2. She's pretty much best candidate from season for Bachelorette so needed her out at F3 and at WTA to measure fan reaction.

3) Britt made sense to round out group date because they knew drama would ensue by putting her together with Carly and that Chris was "on" to her. As Chris noted in blog, he was questioning Britt's authenticity already thanks to warnings from Jade and Ashley. While other Bachelors would have easily taken Britt further in process to F3 or F2, Chris is taking this seriously so she's out.

4) Jade got the 1-on-1 because I think Chris really did like his sisters' pick and wanted to take "small town Jade" to his hometown. At one point Jade was Chris' strong contender for F2 but production knew otherwise. Production knew she was going to tell him about Playboy pre rose ceremony in ep7 (and how convenient ceremony cancelled) so the talk (and drama) had to wait to ep8 HTD. The nude photos absolutely freaked Chris out and production knew that once Jade told her story, she was a goner.

5) Whitney got her own 1-on-1 date because Chris wanted more time with her. He is totally smitten. There is a reason production only aired quality onscreen interaction between these two in ep 1, 2, 3 and then finally ep 7. That's a lot of hiding of the relationship, which we see every season when lead falls early.

So production's and Chris' best candidate for F2 is ...

6) Becca!!! Becca is everyone's best girlfriend and not aggressive on group dates or one to fight for his attention/time like other gals earlier in season. Chris and Becca HAD to accelerate the relationship especially since his early front runners for F2 Britt and Jade were on their way out, they wanted Kaitlyn out at F3 for WTA and he had Carly in friend zone.

Yes, Chris certainly likes Becca. That's obvious and I think that Becca's feelings are finally growing too. But too slow for this show and especially too slow considering where Chris and Whitney appear to be at already. And, considering what Chris said onscreen to Whitney's sister, those two are totally on same page in terms of careers, family plans and ready for mature relationship/marriage plus have all that in common with Chicago.

I put no credence in Chris's blog as it's written after-the-fact and he wants to look good. If Britt hadn't confronted him during the GD, I'm pretty certain that she'd have gotten a HTD and that Jade would have been the one to go home. I don't think Britt and Chris are compatible in any way, shape or form, so I doubt he'd have chosen her at the end anyway, or if he did they would have broken up soon after or he'd have pulled a Jason and called Whitney later.

Wouldn't be enough time, unless she's F3 gal and not in the F2.

Someone did a chart of when the girls were sent home. Does anyone know where on this site I could find it? I'm sure this is where I saw it. Thanks for your help.

I can't see her having to quit her job if she was going on the 'Ette. She could easily take a few months LOA.

A commenter on RS stated that Whitney did NOT quit her job, but took a different position. Didn't identify why/how they knew that.
