Bachelor 19 - Chris Soules - Episode 5 - *Spoilers & Sleuthing* - Discussion

This season is beyond strange...and not good strange. One bright spot is Carly who is real and beautiful and so worthy. I am also enjoying Kaitlyn, but tonight it was like any possible joy was sucked out of the room. Who does this? Get a grip and some new ideas MF and company...oh yea, and some new casting folks. This was the pits.

i guess know exactly what you meant JBF....Sharleen on her blog coining it by calling it the Britt "On-Ness" all the time :P . I may post it on the Fun-Snark-Thread. It is too amusing not to...

Yeah, so what is up with Britt always touching, groping on everyone? Especially when Jillian was there! It's driving me crazy.

I really hope they are showing all this distraction. To hide Chris and Whitney amazing chemistry and love story!

Just watched the episode. Liked Carly during her date, (totally stupid date IMO - so not appropriate but totally says who MF is) One thing I did notice about her though was that in the early PI's she was good naturedly joking about Britt, but after Chris woke Britt up and kissed her in front of Carly, then Carly's PI's became bitchy and petty toward Britt. Isn't that so typical for this show... she should have been ticked at Chris, but he gets a pass and it's all Britt's fault

I was especially impressed with Whitney when she was talking to Ashleigh and telling her that although nobody liked the situation, it was no excuse to be mean to somebody. It's things like that, that tell me who the inner person is.

I do believe that Britt's fear of heights is real (isn't that what the Bach basis dates on - fears that the girls have? Carly's was intimacy) I also think that there's more to her not showering story and that she's not a dirty person. Anybody that is always made up the way she is, and from what I've seen she always looks clean and her hair never looks greasy, plus the other girls don't seem to avoid being near her, so I don't think she stinks and she's the one that joked about it. I'm thinking it's not as big a deal as it's being made to be.

Kelsey and Ashleigh, IMO, need some serious help. Both so delusional and manipulative.

The only girls that are truly "normal" from what I can see are Becca and Whitney ... and the 2 that I don't really mind are Britt and Kaitlyn.

This far into the season, the viewer is no longer interested in many of the drama MOT girls. 
TPTB should take a hint and fire them all. (oops wrong show!) It seems like more should have been let go.

Not defending Britt...but wanted to add perspective of the fear of heights and hot air balloons.

I have a fear of heights.  And, I've always wanted to ride in a hot air balloon.  A couple of years ago I was working with someone who piloted one.  We agreed to meet in Albuquerque for the Fiesta and he said he'd take me for a ride.  I never thought about my fear of heights until my friend said... "I thought you were afraid of heights."  And I went "OH  cr*p, what do I do now?"  So I asked my friend what he thought and if he thought it would be a problem, and he said his wife had a deathly fear of heights.  (Like slide down the mountain trail on her behind to get closer to the ground fear of heights.)  She was also a balloon pilot.  He said because the take-off is gradual you don't really notice you're getting higher?    

He was right.  It was slightly uncomfortable, but not really scary.  And I would definitely do it again.  The scariness factor reminded me of an airplane in a way.  You're up in the air, but your brain doesn't seem to notice?  Or it notices, but it doesn't create fear?

Going on this show is like white water rafting in a raft that has a huge leak, no paddles and no protective gear is given out--including life vests.  Why you would do this is an adrenaline ride in itself. 
Then you sign a contract that literally states the show can show you in any light they choose and you have to wonder about the sanity of the cast. 
I don't have empathy for any of them. This is the 19th season. There is so much info on this show and how the cast is treated. I have to think either some of them don't care for future prospects and are willing to take the risk, the rest are either dimwitted, egomaniacs or both.

Kelsey said something about tuning in at 8 PM. The show has always been on at 7 in Texas, which made me wonder if she's watched it much before. I read that #sandersonpoe was trending. JS was not the only one saying that stuff. She must be mortified going to work today. I feel bad for her too, but I can't fathom why she would be saying what she was saying. It was like she was high. And what's in the yellow bag?

Carly is even more Ashley H than Ashley H, if that makes sense. I think she's a little too insecure to pull it off and I'm worried about the bro types messing with her head because she isn't their dream vision of a trophy wife so they want to bail but still get as much screen time as possible. Remember the comedy club group date? Poor Ashley, tptb would definitely do the same sort of thing to Carly.

My vote goes to Kaitlyn (so far), even though she isn't my favorite bachelorette this season. I think she's a terrible match for Chris but she'd be a good lead. I looked up her age, 29! Sounds good.

I get what you mean. I wonder why she is insecure? Also wonder why she skipped over her own parents marriage to saying she wanted someone to love her like her grampa loved her gramma. Seems like I remember from Zak's HTD that his parents were still married? No? Anyhow, I'd just think with 2 brothers, she would have felt special growing up and have more confidence. It's too bad, because she's a sweet girl. My impression of her ITMs were that she was annoyed with both Chris and Britt. Chris is being an idiot kissing the girls in front of other girls. I don't think she (or Britt) will be the next 'ette. I could see them going with Kaitlyn because the show is moving away from the romance to making fun of itself and Kaitlyn's ITM's on her guys would be priceless. I also think we'll see more of Becca's personality once the crazies are gone, so she could still be a possibility.

Did the truth come out last night when the girls were saying Britt told them she loved being single? Then she tells Chris she wants 100 children. What???? Then the quick scene of Chris actually getting under the sheets with her, boy wonder what his F1 thought about that? No way they'd choose her as next bachelorette now. Or would they, how could they convince America Britt was there for the "right reasons" wanting to get engaged and possibly married?
