Wait - and what about the curved thumbs? Or was it decided that both guys had curved thumbs. One thing I've always known: I absolutely, utterly stink at sleuthing. I just never get any of this stuff right and my hat is off to you sharper crayons out there.

JP's thumbs are partially covered by the suit's fabric, so they appeared curved.

I just watched that video and what upsets me the most about the interaction with her sister is the second conversation that happens between them. Ashley actually went to her to try and talk about the reasons why they might be seeing a different side of her with JP and the sister basically didn't listen to her at all. It wasn't all because of the editing, there were times where her sister just cut her off and talked right over what Ashley was saying, and answering her by saying stuff like, "look I'm just telling you what I think." This sounds like the sister was not at all interested in listening to Ashley and was unwilling to allow her mind to be changed at all. She was more interested in being right than hearing about what was going on in Ashley's head. It didn't seem to me that Ashley was not explaining herself well, in fact, she was saying some pretty important stuff, her sister just kept cutting her off. She was trying to explain that she's not "super confident" Ashley all the time and why.

Putting this together with the similar comment that someone mentioned from her HTD with Brad makes me wonder if Ashley feels like her family doesn't know her as well as she wished they did. (Though I'm sure they all love each other very much.) This is not all that uncommon, sometimes the people who you've spent your whole life with still may not look deep enough below the surface to see the real you.. especially if Ashley has this outer personality of "super energetic and confident girl".. and feels the need to keep it up all the time for her family. I can see how that could get pretty lonely sometimes.

I realize I'm reading a lot into this, but that's what I'm seeing at the moment. It makes even more sense, and is even more sweet, that Ashley fell in love with a man who she can be vulnerable around, and is her rock. She must just be exhausted from having to be the spunky Ashley all the time to everyone. I bet it felt so good for her to be able to let go of that with someone. That first 1:1 date, where Ashley basically just let JP see her at a "low" point, where she just didn't have the energy to be "on" seems even more important after having seen all this. And JP liked her anyway (actually probably more so because of it.) She probably couldn't believe it.

Gosh, these two are so phenomenal together. Really, I cannot believe they found each other on this ridiculous show.

Mom & Sis didn't understand that Ashley was not quite herself because she was oh so nervous about the man she loves meeting her family.

I just watched video where Ashley confronted her sister and 2 things stood out. The obvious one was Ashley really wanting them all to love JP and was upset that her sister didn't think he was right for her. The other thing was that Chrystie seemed to strike a nerve. I was surprised that Ashley told her that she was saying what Ashley was thinking. I wonder what she meant by that? I actually didn't think Chrystie was all that bad. They were there to give their impressions and she did. Could she have been a little more subtle about it? Sure and probably should have. I bet Fleiss was extremely happy about it. :Nod:

I also watched a clip from Ashley interrupting Britt's time with Brad and remembered what I didn't like about her going into this season. I think she turned out to be better than I expected but a bit too insecure for my liking and could have been a little more empathetic at times. Still it's nice for her to have found someone she loves to start a relationship with.

I finally got to watch the video, and I agree that Chrystie struck a nerve, because it sounded to me like Ashley feared her family would relate better to Ben than to JP on first impression (which of course is all they get), because Ben was more the type of guy they were used to, or expected, to see Ashley with. However, I think Ashley surprised herself on this journey by realizing early on that her true "soul mate" was the guy who was not like the other guys she dated in the past, and not like the type of guy she had always envisioned herself with. And because of that, she was afraid that her family would assume that Ben was better for her, because he would be more "familiar" to them, even as she knew that it was clearly JP who she wanted. And unfortunately for her, her fears came true, and thus the breakdown.

I don't fault Chrystie so much for "telling it like she saw it" initially, but I do fault her for not realizing once Ashley crumbled that there was something more going on there, and not being more sensitive to her sister's feelings. And being rude to JP, which we didn't see in this clip but it sounds like she was, with her hostile grilling of him, was inexcusable in my book.

And ITA with you that Fleiss was eating it all up!

I wasn't all that crazy about Ashley being the next bachelorette back then either, but now at this point, I feel like she was one of the best yet! I am so glad her season turned out to be a great one! Two bachelorette seasons in a row where I feel like the lead has chosen the right one for them since the very beginning, and I feel like their relationships are real and will last.

My two official favorite seasons of all time ~ Aliberto & Jash. :-)

Obviously this season was never who will Ash choose, it was will they last through all the crap thrown at them
