Wow, that was awesome! Talk about making a difference. Many seniors go on about being useless and just sitting around for no good reason....well....maybe they should talk to Lillian!!GuardianAngel wrote:mtnlvr55 wrote:Off topic for the bachelor but here's why people want to live in Iowa:

It is cool: my 85 year old mom sews for them too. This is our local TV network that showed the 99 year old seamstress but there are lots of other ladies (I don't think any men do it but who knows) that are spending time putting the dresses together.

I can cook for 100 people, I can bake till the cows come home, I'm a clean fanatic, but I can't sew.
I would love to do something like that. I better find out what time the cows come home, so I can marry the rich farmer and learn how to sew!
If I had a sewing machine, I could probably sew a real easy pattern, no buttons, no zippers, but forget the hand sewing.
That's wonderful that you Mother is involved mlvr.
I really hope Chris meets the right person who would appreciate this type of small town volunteer work and gets involved in the community.

I used to sew everything! I started on my grandmothers pedal machine when I was 12 and loved it. I, also, used to do a lot of "hand" work. I sewed for many, many years---most of my maternity clothes, my prom dresses, my kids things etc. But over the last 20 yrs, I have to admit--I rarely sew with my machine at all. It's gotten to the point, it's cheaper to buy.
Now as far as cooking--my best recipe is "reservations". It's not that I can't cook or can't cook well, I just don't like it.
It's so great life offers up choices and diversity. I love it!

I have this lady on my facebook faves, I was so touched by her story. Didn't realize she is an Iowan.
Speaking of dresses and sewing, wonder if the fashionistas or ladies who like to dress up and love SHOES would feel bit disheartened to marry a farmer who lives in a farm. I don't really watch the Bachelor but when I do I look for the women who knows how to dress up. I didn't mean that farmers and their wives go barefoot and naked in the farm, I was just wondering about how women who loves to dress up (ala Ashlee) fix their hair (like Clare and Michelle Money) feel about it. Iowa is not exactly the fashion capital, guess wearing Jimmy Choos and Blahniks are pointless if you are just gonna stay with the hubby to feed the pigs. That would be a big blow to some of Chris' prospective suitors.

I haven't been keeping up with anything much after Andi's season ended- are there any (strong) speculation on any potential candidates?

Nice find! There seems to be a lot of tweets from those who went to the casting calls. (emoji's have to be removed, this board goes wonky if they are left in, you did the right thing!)

Nothing concrete, but a lot out there in twitterland from those who are applying.

My story was much like yours, but I'm now retired and my time for sewing has returned. I really hope Chris meets several young women who are community oriented and self-sustaining.

Gotta say I would be shocked if this girl isn't cast. (for some reason or another.)
