Married At First Sight - Season 1 - General Discussion - **Spoilers**

I also can believe that she is falling for Doug because he's such a great guy. I read an article about him ... somewhere ... saying that he was in his high school's athletic hall of fame for playing three sports so he must have been a stud back in his high school days. While at first glance/looks alone Jamie may have seemed to be "out of his league," I changed my mind when I saw him on the beach in his swim trunks and then playing baseball. He's getting hotter and hotter with each episode.

Absolutely hotter in each episode. His body is--in Jamie's words--amazing. I would have liked to see Jamie's reaction when she came out of the bathroom that first day in St. Thomas and saw him in his swimsuit. I don't think she was expecting him to look like that!

I feel like the impression they were giving of Doug in the beginning with the whole 'living with his parents' thing didn't accurately show who he is. He's always interacted with Jamie very confidently, and I've never got the impression he was intimidated by her beauty. So I think he's had his share of success with women in the past. In the last episode he said he was committed to Jamie from the beginning, and that it just felt right to him. I feel like he had no doubt he could win her over, and set about doing just that. He comes across as being very comfortable with himself and very confident, but without even a hint of cockiness, which is part of what is making him more attractive (imo).

I can't wait to watch Doug & Jamie in the next few episodes. I'm sure he will be supportive and understanding when visiting the trailer park, and I'd guess they finally consummate their marriage soon. When those two things happen, Jamie's going to be a goner for him.

I also ff Monet and Vaughn at this point - just a mismatch. I find her quite clueless on how she's coming across to him and a bit abrasive, with Vaughn just seeming off somehow and maybe not that nice. They seem to quite dislike each other. I can't take watching them when there is such joy in watching the other 2 couples.

I'm totally in love with Courtney and Jason. They have been so caring towards each other from the start. It's like watching live at first sight as it grows and they start to realize that's what has happened.

Doug seems amazing for Jamie. I just still worry a bit about her seeming reluctant and her motivations because of my preconceived opinions from the Bach shows. I hope her feelings are true because Doug does seem so smitten with her and sounds like she's maybe never had a relationship with a strong, confident, good man. It's beautiful to see her inch her way towards trusting him and opening up to him.

Bottom line ... I am not going to buy any of these couples a wedding gift just yet but there is something very authentic happening on this show and it's fun to watch.

Yes, MVMom, I'm beginning to have some of the same concerns.

There are just too many retweets about getting a spinoff by Courtney and Jason for my comfort...though I love those guys...so I'm very conflicted. I recall reading on Courtney's twitter that she went to school with BB's Jordan LLoyd and another reality star, Brooklyn Decker (though I have no idea who she is). Just how many reality stars comes from the same school? Weird coincidence? So was Courtney's involvement in MAFS really for the marriage or just a way to get known in tvland? I want to believe the best in her, but I don't want to end up burned buying into J&C's story. Right now I'm trying to be optimistic for them, but keeping my eyes open.

That said, if Courtney is just acting for this, I nominate her for an emmy. She's very convincing...and endearing...and I'll probably be a fan regardless.

I would suspect that nearly anyone who goes on reality TV, any show, does it to go on TV as a first motive.  That it would be this show picked from the long list means that they were also willing to seriously give a marriage a shot.  I really don't expect anything else.  What I like is when they find themselves pleasantly surprised to realize that the secondary motive actually has potential.  Seeing them warm into that is fun.  So you see Jamie decide to give this a real shot despite her initial disappointment; Courtney and Jason's surprise at how well they like each other, and Monet and Vaughn struggling it out when if this had been real life, they'd be long over.  Reality TV is ALWAYS TV first, "right reasons" somewhere down the list.  IMHO.

I do hope Courtney and Jason resist the temptation of a reality show, despite what production are probably whispering in their ears.  At some point a relationship needs to breathe and grow in private, and if they deny themselves that, they will ruin what they have.

I think Jamie does have intimacy issues, and they may have been fed by the negative experience with Chris B on Bachelor Pad. She knows she made a mistake there, and it probably digs into her deep. Basically, I suspect that she knows she has been all over the map with intimacy in the past and is trying hard to sort it out before taking that step this time. Not to mention, she probably feels that when she takes that step with Doug, she will be telling Doug that they are staying together.

Her thoughts on editing are good. Alex was on reality tv herself and knows the ins and outs which she shares. LOVE her perspective and humor!!!
Pointing out how Cortney and Jason are similar to Monet and Vaughn....really got my back up. However she has a point.
Cortney & Jason They are sweet and into each other, but not discussing the seriously BIG tough issues they should be, i.e. children, birth control, religion. Non-confrontational communication is not healthy either, though much easier to view and less collateral damage to themselves, easier to fix within their relationship and our ears. Fishbowl is definitely needed.

Monet & Vaughn are too alike in lack of communication skills. They get offended that each other is breathing, so how the heck do they settle down to tackle ANY subject. They can't connect anywhere but in bed...and that ain't going to last.   Shrill, and lots of comment bombs that make a hole in the relationship, is not easily undone. Not sure if the fishbowl will be useful... unless they try to literally stuff each other in it.

I much prefer the way C&J are going about it. Hopefully the fishbowl exercise will help. And I too think FYI should merchandise that concept into a game for couples.

Jamie & Doug I had to chuckle when she compared them to the old show Moonlighting with Cybil Shepherd and Bruce Willis. I was a big fan of that show, so I remember it well. When you think about it, Jamie and Doug do fit that dynamic build into the relationship.    And it's cute to think about in those terms.
Fishbowl might be better done off camera for them....but then again....where's the fun in that for us fans.

Yeah, why is Jamie good for Doug, is what I find myself thinking. I'm on Team Skeptic with his Mom on that front. Even if they are together now, there is a LOT for her to work out. She needs a lot of healing/change, and that ideally, that internal work should happen or be well underway before marriage. Of course, she is basically getting counseling/therapy through this strange experience.

The episodes do really draw you in, until you stop and think about how little time has gone by. Two weeks so far! Just a little longer than spring break, LOL!

I agreed with everything she said on that video. I also caught that Jamie said love. I'm skeptical and hopeful about the couples although will be shocked if Monet & Vaughn stay together.

I find the 5 week deadline to be interesting because it's really only if they're not staying married at that time does it matter. Even if they stay married it's not like they have no out.

I would also like the link please. I love this show. I think it's so fun to see actual reality on reality TV. A fun new show is also Mystery Millionaire for those of you that are interested.
