We don't know. He started the date without it and it appeared during the day in Ghent. Looks like the ribbon to wrap up the goodies in the chocolate shop. The fact that he continues to wear it (which implies taking care of it since it is only the thin ribbon) seems really significant to us Josh fans!

no. it's most likely a ribbon off some candy they got at that sweets shop. he didn't have it on on that date and then viola he had it on shortly after being in that shop. he has worn it ever since despite being rather tattered at this point.
