Bachelorette 10: Edit-Storyline - *SPOILERS* - should we bother? Oooohhhh... why not? part 2

I'm really anxious to see what happens next episode as far as Chris goes and his edit, I think that will be very telling.  I'm curious to see how these letters pan out, Andie's reaction, and get a take on if he really was inspired to write them of if it was all producer driven.  Is this a way to "restart" their "stalled relationship?  

But it's just baffling to me that if they are "grooming" him to be the next lead, viewers have got to "see" him to like him!

I keep having flashbacks of Reid on Jillian's season, JBF I was with you thinking he was going to be f1, and that was the reason he just wasn't getting the time Jilly. Then I have a flashback of Des's season with it being all Brooks, with no Brooks at the end... who the hell knows!

If Chris doesn't get a second 1 on 1 date, I just don't see how he could be F1 or the lead bachelor. He hasn't gotten much of a fan base to be a Lead, and there hasn't been much of a connection with other than as a friend so he's not F1.

I agree, because his date was in Ep 2 he would have to get another one to keep as a possibility. That's why I'm curious as to how next episode plays out. Will these letters be the start of his story? If he's going to potentially be the next lead I would hope so!

It really is the strangest thing, Chris and Andi had their date, and we've only seen them interact once since then when she was grilling him at the group date after party. No hugging when she sees the guys, no hugging that we see at RC's when he gets "rosed".. No PI's about him, other than her saying Chris is one of the nicest guys in the house.

Juan Pablo got the role and he was barely shown. Chris had an early 1-on-1 date so he already has a fan base. That's certainly clear as I see it here and on social media. In everything we've seen of him so far, he's literally come across as a sweetheart who seems to really care about those people on the show. We've seen him console Dylan and we've seen him help Andi with the Nick situation last week. If his spoiled position of F3 is correct then they have plenty of time to show him more. He would have four more episodes and also the MTA. That's plenty of time and judging by the preview for next week, it looks like we're going to get more Chris. Thankfully. Production doesn't necessarily need to get people to fall in love with his relationship with Andi, although that's always a plus. What they really need is for people to fall in love with Chris - which many people already have and they have plenty of time to build on that.

It is very strange. She gets the 1st secret admirer letter and reads it aloud. She really doesn't show all that much emotion but maybe that's just true to her character. Then she goes to the RC that week and announces to all the guys at the start of the cocktail party that she got one. From that time onward Chris becomes largely "secret" as in rarely seen. Another letter arrives which she also reads aloud. In this scene there is a cowhide throw on the trunk, which she puts her feet on (foot up on the competition?) and the camera pans twice to the leather jacket she wore on her date with Brian.

On the upcoming epi when Chris will reveal himself, he is wearing a turtle neck. Caption could read," will he come out of his shell?".    Speaking of attire, Andi was wearing a mock turtleneck on the night Cody accused Nick of mocking him. Wonder if Nick will scarf down his food in Venice?

This season is so weird.

Chris is the only one with a hometown screencap. Not going by "snapshots" or RS postings.

He is also seen in a suit leaving the way Sean did during Emily's season, looking downcast, and "what went wrong look?' on his face. But in the first night and first date card scene, they sc all of the top 4 guys. TPTB always leave a breadcrumb trail.....and there is always a wolf in Grandma's clothes too...

True there's time and maybe his HTD and his exit will be really great and genereate a lot of love for him. BUT, it is very unusual for a next lead to be edited this way. He has some fans I'm sure. But he's not being allowed to build interest amoung casual viewers who have just a vague memory of his date at this point. He has been totally invisible as a romantic interest for Andi.

If he is going to be Bachelor and have more presence later my guess at his edit is because 1) He and Andi really had no romantic moments all these weeks so there was nothing to build his storyline available to them and his scenes would be too big of a contrast to the chemistry with the other F3. Like Eric, he had a great date with her, but she wasn't really interested and there have been no special times since. 2)Later in the season, like around now or next week, she changes her mind on someone else who was slotted for F4 because they somehow lose ground with her (Brian or JJ) meaning she has to ramp it up with someone else, because there have to be 4 HTDs. And/or TPTB tell her to start "acting" more with Chris and start giving him more time with her because they want him in the F4.

At the moment, he seems like a MOT guy who had an early date, IMO - JJ and Brian seem more like F4 candidates. I'd guess Nick, Josh and Marcus as her obvious top 3 plus JJ or Brian right now. Chris' edit must turn because at some point in Andi's and/or the producer's mind, Chris takes over JJ and Brian.

I think Episode 6 will be key in seeing how the relationships evolve, especially with Josh (trust?), Nick (1-1) and Chris (secret admirer, GDR)

IF Chris happens to be F1 have we ever seen in a season one where he's not shown with the lead during each show? I don't mean a big part but we haven't seen him interacting with her at all except this last one and that was about Nick and not them. I know Catherine wasn't very obvious but we did get cute little interactions between her and Sean.

One consistent comment (stated by at least ten posters here) that I will never completely understand is all of the "friendzone" talk regarding Chris and Andi. Her body language in Santa Anita (what we've been permitted to see) didn't look "friendzone" to me at all, but... I admit that my eyes are different than others.

Yes, I do agree that the way they are hiding him is absolutely ridiculous regardless if he's F1 or Next Bach.

Perhaps I shouldn't be surprised by it. All through Des' season, that Chris was ridiculed for his poems and many comments here were, in fact, quite derogatory. In addition, there was a succession of screencap thread posts lining up the Des/Chris on the beach with Sean/AshLee on the beach to "prove" he was a dumpee and they were faking for the cameras.

Hey! You can't argue with others about something you only see on an edited TV show.

One key difference between Bachelorette and Bachelor is that the 'ettes TALK a lot more about their "connections" rather than physically show it. Yes, we have had more kissing scenes with Josh, Marcus, Nick and Brian, but even more intriguing is the fact that SHE has discussed the kissing and "chemistry" on screen. As with Des and Brooks/Drew, the clothes will stay on at all times (i.e. Eric is the only one she sported the bikini for) and the music department will slap on the slushy Fantasy Date orchestration on each date. Well... except non-orgasmic Brian's, which got the quirky melodies.

Yes, those little moments with Catherine, mostly because of Sean's reaction to her, made me hope she might be the final one even though it seemed unlikely early on. .
It is only epi 6 which means we've only reached the midpoint of the season. If the HTD wasn't in 2 more epis then being so hidden wouldn't be such a bafflement in terms of Chris' storyline. The "secret admirer" letters just seem like an overstatement without being privy to how their relationship is developing.
