I have a feeling it won't be quite so bad...just the usual drama, crying, cat fights. I forget exactly what that first promo shot of Chris as the next Bachelor said....something along the lines of traditional, classic, All American? If that is the theme they are going for, they can't do anything too bad...it's like knocking Uncle Sam and apple pie. On that note, perhaps an apple pie emoticon?

I saw the above link in another thread, so I read the article (about J & A).  While I was never gaga over JPG and was not rooting for him to get the Bachelor role, I did watch his season.  I never understood his relationship with Nikki, and I'm certain that they were never mant to be a couple.  

I know the guy isn't perfect, but it really irks me to see TPTB in the past and the media still describing him as the devil incarnate. I think there has always been a double standard when it comes to how TPTB throws a male (lead) under the bus, versus the poor lil lady who was wronged by the big bad wolf.

JPG wasn't the first male lead to not make it to the altar, milk his 15 minutes, or have fans turn on him. He was, however, the first male lead whose aired soundbite (re Clare) made it to the screen. Considering how TPTB played an integral part in Andi's ATFR train wreck with Nick, I think they are becoming enboldened as to what they provoke and what they air.  IMO, with this production strategy, we have many more "stains" on the franchise to come. Time to stock up on our Shout(R) and Oxyclean(R) before Chris' season makes it to our TVs.      

I agree w/you. I think in future seasons. we will see TPTB throw more and more of the leads under the bus all in interest of creating drama. Let's face it. this show has been on the air for so long now that everything's has sort of already been "done". They now think they must resort to these types of tactics in order to create interest through manufactured drama. I think it's important for us viewers to remember that these are all just real people on the show that are at the mercy of TPTB. I know they all chose to go on this show (and thus should know they could be portrayed negatively), but knowing that and actually knowing that are two very different things, imo.

Oh, but if there's drama to be had (to TPTB, drama = ratings), I have no doubt that even a bachelor like Chris would be thrown under the bus in a N.Y. minute and made to look like the worst bachelor in Bachelor franchise history! Drama = ratings, and to TPTB, ratings > a person's feelings and image!

Oh, I don't doubt that MF would throw his own mother under the bus for ratings, I just don't think it will be as bad as JPab last season. The way they are marketing him just doesn't seem as if that is the route they will be heading. They are going for middle America, salt of the earth, tradition, all-American...very much a contrast from the sexy latin lover that they marketed JPab as . Polar opposites. I think they want to give us a bit of a break from all that was horrid last season. Last season was the bad, foreign man vs. this season the good old, stand up, honest, traditional, all American dude. We shall see, but that is just my impression based on that one marketing image they gave us and how Chris was edited last season. Can't wait to see.

Second, JPG and Nikki.

To me this was a flawed couple, they had the potential to love and be good, but it never got there. Since we like to play the blame game here, I am going give my opinion off what I am seeing in SM and what we have heard on CT.

First, I think even without ILY Nikki and JPG had real affection and adoration. I wish that JPG had discussed what he was going to do at the AFTR with Nikki, or if he did, I wish Nikki had been honest and told him it wasn't okay with her. Bad move on JPG's part, while I loved watching him stick it to TPTB, he should not have placed that above Nikki's feelings.

Their period immediately after seemed good. JPG made that really sweet video in which he does call her love and says he loves her in the less formal te quiero. To me if English had two forms of love this would be what every bachelor couple has at the end of filming. Now some grow to t'amo by the AFTR, I had hoped this couple would but JPG didn't. I really think that is because of Camila.

JPG and his hesitance to say ILY or t'amo, reminds me of Josh, who was only going to say it one more time. Josh had only himself and his feelings to consider and got there with Andi. I do wonder if JPG didn't have Camila would he feel more free with t'amo, but he isn't just looking for him, he is looking for both of them.

On CT we learned that Camila didn't know Nikki was JPG's girlfriend. I am not sure why he was hesitant to tell her, unless Camila would assume that meant they were marrying, but she seems old enough that it could be explained to her. I think that was hurtful to Nikki and that I understand, but that was not what she fixated on. To her it was all about hearing ILY, which I guess I can understand, but at the same time, I have never once in my life wanted to force ILY, I think it should be genuine from the person's heart.

Why did JPG not get there? I think he didn't trust Nikki completely. Nikki never put him in front of her friendship with Andi. I think this was really important to JPG. It is okay for your girlfriend to defend her friends over you, but in a marriage your partner should always have your back. I think if Nikki ever did something to upset Josh, Nikki would learn that Andi has Josh's back first and foremost. So for JPG, I think this contributed to his inability to give the ILY.

Second he said that he texts her and calls her, etc to let her know that he is thinking of her. To me that is shows that is very important to JPG. Nikki admitted she was bad at it and it didn't really sound like she did much to try to improve it. Again, I think JPG wondered if he could count of Nikki to show love and affection. Even her comforting of him was very not warm on the CT episode where he destroyed the roses. We saw both Cecily and John really comfort and embrace both Treach and Jenna. JPG did not get that from Nikki.

Why does this matter? Well, maybe JPG can live without it, but should Camila. From the Camila I see, she is very loved and knows it and is shown it. Again, JPG isn't having to just consider himself, he has to consider, is this person going to love my child the way I want her to be loved.

Now, I am not sure why this didn't improve after CT when these issues had become known. Was it JPG or from what I saw last episode was it a process of Nikki realizing that she didn't really love JPG and didn't want to put in the effort.

I know that JPG never made plans for them to move. Well, truthfully, this is something I am used to. My father never planned anything in a his life, he bought gifts at the last minute and any kind of plan or such had to come from my mom. My mom was a total control freak so it worked for her. Maybe Nikki wants someone to take control, but if that is the case, then JPG isn't your guy. He is the guy that you make the plans and then tell him where to be. Again, this was my dad so I am used to it. We actually joked that you made the plans and then told my dad to be there an hour earlier than necessary so he would be on time.

I just think at the end of the day, Nikki realized that she didn't want a guy like JPG. When she stopped trying to win the ILY, she actually had to think, is this what I want? Without Clare and competition maybe just maybe he didn't look as good anymore.

One thing I will say for Andi, since I think that Nikki and Andi are very similar, Andi has made a very conscious effort to focus on Josh. It isn't what I would do, but she wants the relationship to work and she isn't working and is focusing solely on Josh and their relationship. I don't know that Nikki ever really focused on JPG, I know that he didn't because of the travel and Camila, but I don't think Nikki actually gave it her all either. Again, to me, deep down I just think Nikki wanted to win the bachelor, but at the end didn't really love the person she had won all that much.

Nikki you are a fraud.  Way to seek out fame even more.  Maybe now you can learn to be nice about fans, next time someone interrupts you during a meal or something remember you decided to talk about your break up instead of going back to a normal life and having people leave you alone.  Totally over Nikki

And for all the claims that JPG was in it for the fame, but he hasn't commented and she is giving an exclusive to Life and Style, one of the crappiest of the magazines.
