Re: Bachelor 19 - Chris Soules - General Discussion - *Spoilers*
Yup Mia. Totally.Since so many misjudge him or prejudge him based on his kissing skills and pretty face, I bet that many readers were surprised by what he chose to tell them about himself. Arie is in a testosterone driven career, but he has such a kind heart.
Time.com has reposted the entire blog from Sean's website! http://time.com/3071743/arie-the-bachelor/
It's going to get a much larger audience. I'm glad that so many other folks (who dont follow Sean or The Bachelor) will have the chance to read Arie's words, which I find inspiring. What a fine man. He's always been humble and has worn his heart on his sleeve and I find that incredibly endearing.
I think if Arie's not standing on the driveway when those women exit the limo, the producers could have a mutiny on their hands. :shocked!: And poor Chris would be left with the actresses/future tv hosts who want screen time at any cost.

Call me naive but I've always believed in Arie's sincere desire to find someone to love and be loved in return. I just don't trust his judgment with what he has picked so far, and women have taken advantage of that. I am hopeful that with a different prespective this time around, he will meet the person he is destined to be with, and his mind and heart will help him make that decision, not another part of his anatomy.

I am right there with you. I found him to be very sincere and emotionally honest on Emily's season and believe him when he said in the blog that his heart was truly broken by her. Unfortunately, I also agree that he does not seem to have the best judgment when it comes to his selection in women (even his best friend - forget her name Christina? - is quick to admit that). He definitely is in need of a therapeutic guide. Maybe along with the personal trainer the show has purportedly hired for him it could also engage a therapist for him. I know some good ones!

Actually if Arie would be The Bachelor I envision half the season would be a repeat of Brad's second season with Arie's therapist on speed dial.
JK, because I found Arie entertaining and charismatic on Emily's season and I'd enjoy watching him for a season. What I probably wouldn't enjoy so much is all the dirt in the woodwork coming out about Arie and his womanizing history, and I fear that's what would happen.

He does need some help in the discernment process and I am not talking in the spiritual/religious sense. Just that ability to listen to one's heart and mind in silence. Sean, I think has honed his ability to discern even before he became the Bachelor because he had a "prayer life " and even with that he was duped by Tierra!
I am afraid his season will be pure entertainment for us but not fruitful for him if he's not getting help as you suggest. It will be tantamount to setting him up for failure.

I always felt that Sean was less duped and more just playing along. Let's face it; one of the hurdles the lead has to jump is keeping true to their heart and search for their best match and still put on a show with 11 or so episodes, ending with only two, one of which will be heartbroken and dumped and one with a big NL diamond. It's silly at best but that's the show. Sean took both seriously which is why he's married today and why he was pretty convincing with Tierra, his season's villain. Why I think Arie would be so entertaining is I think he'd do very well at the play acting part and romancing the women and showing his innate charisma. The serious search for their best match I don't know about. He first has to decide that's where he wants his life to head at this point and hopefully - if he gets offered the role and accepts it - it will be because he's sowed enough wild oats to feed the 101st cavalry and now genuinely wants has partner in life.

I think it will be difficult for Arie to play the part because he is so honest. While watching Sean's season, it was difficult for him to fib, and it showed, at least it did to me.
I think it's apparent in Arie's blog, he has been soul searching and is looking for clarity in his life path. Whether it was a marketing ad or not, I enjoyed the sincerity of it all.

I love Arie , and think he can handle being the Bachelor extremely well.. He has been ready to find that very special someone for quite some time, and when he finds her he will treat her like a gem..He has played the dating game long enough ...he's ready for a wife and family . He is so deserving of taking the Bachelor lead...

Totally agree that he's deserving of it and has the ability to be a great lead with his good looks, charm, sense of humor and wit.

Re: Bachelor 19 - Chris Soules - General Discussion - *Spoilers*
I think Arie needs to find a nice woman who can fit into his life as a driver. He travels a lot! A teacher would be flexible to travel with him in the summer if she gets to missing him. Other flexible careers would work, and I think he has to be really honest about what his schedule is like. They would be marrying him and his lifestyle. The women need to be very honest with him about this as well. I believe it is his traveling for work that has made it very difficult for him to maintain a longterm relationship. Then, because of that, he has dated more women but for shorter time periods. Then all of a sudden he is labeled as a player. The guy actually is home alone on many Fri and Sat nites (or so I've been told by those more in the know than myself). He hangs with Bastian!, his cute dog!
I think that Arie is a guy who has god given charisma. He is nice to everyone. He is friendly to everyone. And young women confuse his natural wit and charm as him hitting on them (because they project their lust onto him). He is funny and disarming and makes people feel at ease. They open up, or get their hopes up, and then feel a big let down when he doesn't return their romantic feelings. Some people are born "flirts", it doesn't mean they have low morals or are sleeping around every nite.
Now, I'm not saying Arie is an angel, but being alone on the road does give him a lot of time for introspection. He sees other drivers at the track with wife and kids, etc. we have all found that being busy can distract us from our longterm goals, anything from weight loss to finding a mate. At least Arie seems like he has gotten over his first tv experience and now realizes he wants to bring focus back onto that aspect of his life.
I know single people in their 40s. It gets harder to meet people as you age, IMO. Then, you can settle into a routine and not want to deal with the rejection or potential heartbreak. So, you just carry on thinking, maybe one day. It takes courage to put yourself out there actively. I think Arie feels that the show would be time effective for him, to meet 25 potential women in a short period of time. Of course, 5 of them will be incompatible from the start, 5 will be duds, 5 will be drama queens, etc, etc. but maybe, just maybe, he will find one good match.

I have always liked Arie. I would prefer Chris to be the bachelor over Arie, but I would watch both of them. I am surprised they didn't have Arie at the ATFR with Chris to judge reactions to both.
