Bachelor 19 - Chris Soules - General Discussion - *Spoilers*

Peeked at Chris twitter this morning and looked through some of his pics and my first thought is that if I hadn't seen Andi's season or even cared about this show in a while, he'd grab my interest enough to make me take a look at it again. I have a feeling he could do really well for them in the ratings, if they promote him, the person, before the season.

He's great looking, has kind eyes and isn't show business-y or seemingly trying too hard to get attention , IMO. Quiet confidence and settled in his real life, so appealing. And he comes from a background we haven't seen before. I'm really hoping it will be a great season for Chris, us fans and the franchise. First time in a long time I'm more excited about his "journey" than just meeting the next bachelorette.

Fleiss seems to want every season to have an obstacle. Juan, Emily and Jason were already parents. Andi was feisty and opinionated, rather than "maternal" in her personality. Desiree had an outspoken brother. Ashlee had "small boobs" and half her cast was expecting Emily. (They really milked that one with the Bentley storyline.)

Chris' obstacle is that he is tied to "The Farm", so to speak, and his prospective lady has to do SOME compromising. Not that she has to completely change her career and lifestyle, but will still need to adapt to his.

Otherwise... aside from The Obstacle... Chris is this big teary-eyed marshmellow of a man that a great many ladies can easily snuggle into. Did you folks read the humorous astrological mumbo jumbo on the Fun Thread? Yeah... he is one of those domesticated dudes who is comfortable with his touchy-feely side.

I think you have hit on why I like this guy. I hope he doesn't prove us wrong in our "trust" of his Midwest values and farm mentality. I know a lot of people have thrown around his "criminal" past but I chalk that up to a bit of a wild child who was bored and maybe a little bit privileged, leading to a bit of a rebellion. He now seems settled but with enough of a party streak to make him fun and not totally boring to watch.
I am hopeful for a chance at a romantic story and not a "Blob" who wants to party with all the pretty girls.

The next Bach promo was just on the AMS, there is supposed to be a longer on in about 20 minutes or so.
The short one showed a girl singing I thought she said her name was Carley. There was a girl with a motorcycle helmet (I think this was predicted) and a girl with a very short dress.
The words, Watch, Cringe, Repeat were overlayed on the commercial.
Maybe someone will recognize the girls.

I was reading through the comments on the Bachelor facebook page and found some comments from a guy who knows Chris. Not saying any of this is true.

Peter Haverkamp He's a prickhead. He bought some ground my uncle was renting as pasture ground and tried planting beans on it. Couldn't get back to spray it and it also flooded out so now it's prairie grass. He also didn't wanna pay his share to put up new fence so my uncle took him to court to get fencing costs out of him. I remember helping my uncle walk fence to see how long it was so he could figure out how much this idiot needed to pay. I also heard his first engagement ended because he got too rowdy at his bachelor party. Take it from a local, this guy is an censored. Period.

Peter Haverkamp Oh it is true Cassie. Had to estimate how wide the creek was that the fence ran across. Couldn't wade across it because it was too deep at the time. This was a couple years ago so I don't exactly remember how long it was exactly but we figured we had about $270 that we needed from him and he wouldn't give it to us willingly, so we had to get the courts involved. Plus he tried too hard when he was on TV and he looked like a douche anyways

IA. Chris wasn't my cup of tea on Andi's season, either. I just couldn't get over how they both would pull the upside down lip-frown. Drove me to distraction.

As for the engagement... I asked about the engagement earlier somewhere on this board and why he would choose to go on a show when clearly women were lining up for him already? Even that poor girl on MTA or ATFR? who asked him out on a date and Chris's response was akin to "I have this bachelor thing I am trying to negotiate a contract for so...no" (at least that is how it came across to me). Will reserve judgment until the fat lady sings, but for now, Tim BachCan is my favourite lead and I doubt Chris will sway me.

What makes the squabbling over land humorous to read is that the one dollar amount thrown about is a puny $270, not thousands or millions. We are only getting half the story here.

For me, the engagement partying report is MUCH more interesting, in light of what was discussed on screen during his Santa Anita date. Remember that he was THE Gentleman who put Andi "back on track" after guys were drinking on the group date before. He and the gal he was engaged to obviously were not "in love" with each other. We shall see if SHE come out of the woodwork... like many exes in past seasons.

I'm surprised he hasn't gotten more critics. Usually by this time of year, each of the leads gets a cluster out to poke holes in his/her "balloon" of success. A while back, the motherboard (abc.com) had quite a bit of discussion of his possible connection with Bayer and other companies now questioned for environmental reasons. Those conversations stretched many pages... LOL! The way some carried on, you would think he was joining them in all of their "bad" dealings, when he probably was only using a product of theirs... much like the millions who shop at the hardly perfect Wal-Mart. I remember when McDonalds was attacked because their fish was shipped from Canadians who were clubbing harp seals. You think that stopped the masses from going through the drive-ins?

I dunno... maybe I am just more lenient with the guy since there are no "I heart Chris" T-shirts in circulation. More likely, average TV viewers in January are trying to remember which contestant he was on Andi's season, not that her season was a huge ratings bonanza to begin with.
