Too funny kasha.
Doesn't one have to pass the bar in a certain state to practice law in that specific state?
Anything I post means it's Just My Opinion. Don't feel like posting it every time I post. So, I thought I'd get that out of the way.

This depends on the state where you passed the bar.atem wrote:Kashathediva wrote:She is going to practice law in her own household--she will be judge and jury. It works, pay sux though.

I have forgotten the exact wording--reciprocity is not it, though and my dog is whining for dinner so I have no time to look it up.
In some states, passing the bar in one state is good for several. Unfortunately, some do not. My son-in-law practices in NY and can practice in many states---but not in NJ where they(him, my daughter and grandmonster) just moved to be closer to his beloved in-laws. So --long tiring commute.
I remember looking at Georgia and Meandi could practice in quite a few states quite easily without having to take the bar again.

Reciprocity varies state to state and depending on experience level.
In some states, she would have to take a shortened version of the bar exam- probably dealing with specifics of the laws of the new state. In others, lets say, New York, Georgia has reciprocity. Some states don't have reciprocity at all.

So many before her have tried, so in that sense it was a given - she's been bit by the TV bug I guess!

The thing is she was granted extended leave until December. Don't you think she could have waited until December to resign? There's no guarantee she will find opportunities in other field.

If she wants any job in the entertainment field she needs to take the chance now because they won't be there for very long. Who knows, maybe she simply resigned because she found a different job in the law field that she wants to take instead.

I know nothing about law, so please forgive my ignorance and correct me if I am wrong.
According to the link, Texas and Iowa are NO for Bar Reciprocity, but Illinois is Yes. What does Major Conditions mean? I noticed GA is under Major Conditions for Illinois, so does it mean if you pass bar exam in GA, you don't need to take another one in IL? TIA.
