Re: *The Bachelor 18 - Media Discussion Thread 2
Did anyone read the People article about JP & Nikki? Overall I thought it was pretty good but there were a couple of comments by JP that I didn't like:
Was that (sending women home) the hardest part of the show?
JP: Yes, sending people home was horrible. It was easier when Sharleen & Andi left (on their own). It was a relief to not have to say goodbye to someone I cared about.
(So does that mean he didn't care about them or he only was sad if he sent them home? )
Let's talk about the FRC. Emotions ran pretty high once you let go of Clare.
JP: It was very tough for me to say goodbye to Clare, but she made it easier with her (hostile) reaction. She was expecting me to propose, I get it, but you don't have to come at me like that. It was childish. She disappointed me. Like with Andi, we don't have to talk about what happened or didn't happen. Just go.
(I'm trying to see who's being childish. He doesn't appear to want to have a grownup conversation - Just go?)
Was it not embarrassing to tell JP you loved him and not hear it in return? He said, "I like you. A lot."
Nikki: It is tough for me because I've never told somebody I loved them first. It's kind of girl code.
JP: And now I'm in control.
(That last comment says it all doesn't it?)
Nikki looked really pretty in the pics. She defended JP as you'd expect from a gf. She says they get each other which is important. I may not be a fan of his but I am of Nikki so hope it works out if that's what she wants.

I read the article, and I have the same concerns as you do. I think it is interesting that he called Clare's reaction to being rejected at the FRC childish. First of all, the F2 that is being rejected has a right to be upset for being led on and I sort of the give them a pass (every season) for how they react because in the moment they are blindsided and very hurt. How does Juan Pablo perceive his 'I'm glad I didn't pick her comment' at the FRC? Also, Juan Pablo's behavior at ATFR was very childish as well. All he cared about was getting back at the show. He didn't care about Nikki, his relationship with her, if the fans wanted to hear about them, etc. It was all about him and being mad at Chris Harrison and TPTB and getting back at them by saying repeatedly he was done with the show and he didn't want to/wasn't going to answer any of their questions. Plus, he pulled that little stunt where he said he had a surprise for everybody at ATFR when he really didn't. I don't know, to me it is a little bit of the pot calling the kettle black in terms of his comments about Clare. I also didn't like the cover photo of the magazine where Nikki is adoringly looking and him and he is looking at the camera with a little bit of smirk on his face. On the index page there is another picture different from the one on the cover where they are doing the same type of pose! Nikki is looking adoringly at him and he is just looking at the camera. Weird that People Magazine chose to show those 2 pictures of them.
I also didn't like this exchange in the article:
Was it not embarrassing to tell Juan Pablo you loved him and not hear it in return? He said, "I like you. A lot."
Nikki: It is tough for me because I've never told somebody I loved them first. It's kind of girl code.
Juan Pablo: And now I'm in control.
Have you said it now?
Juan Pablo: I'm not telling you!
What does Nikki mean that it's kind of girl code? To not said 'I love you' first? Also, what does Juan Pablo mean he's in control? That he's in control of the relationship because he hasn't told Nikki he loves her? Or that he's in control because he is done with the show? Also, so he still won't say whether or not he loves her. It was just not because he didn't want to say it on the show because he was done with TPTB, it was just because he doesn't want to say it. Either he doesn't love her or he wants to keep it private. I am more apt to believe that he just doesn't love her yet because if he was so concerned with privacy, he wouldn't have done the People Magazine shoot or set up the photos with his publicist in the Dominican Republic. I can respect that some couples want their privacy, but I don't feel that this particular couple is one of them, imo.
I like Nikki as well, and I am concerned about her in this relationship.

This is sad. It means that the TPTB can edit the show however they want because people are talking.

For the "in control" line, I'm sure JPG meant that because Nikki has said ily first, he's in control of the relationship. He's just teasing her, it's pretty cute (IMO). But every joke is only part joke so I do think that JPG knows/thinks he's in control. If Nikki is okay with it, then it's her life. They're adorable together and I like their banter.

Carrie: What an amazing observation!

TPTB have pretty much done that since Season 1 of the show. Nothing has changed much, there is just more social media now.

For anyone who doesn't think this guy is a famewhore looking to stretch his 15 minutes.....
From TMZ:
"The Bachelor" star Juan Pablo is already suffering from delusions of grandeur -- insisting he's big enough to host major nightclub events around the country ... WITHOUT mentioning his claim to fame, because that's exactly what he demanded.
TMZ has obtained the flier for Juan's upcoming club appearance at The Pool After Dark in Atlantic City on March 29th -- and NOWHERE on the flier does it mention "The Bachelor."
Looking at it, you'd think Enrique Iglesias canceled and the club was forced to hire a cheap replacement.
And it's no accident -- sources tell us, Juan specifically instructed the casino NOT to associate him with "The Bachelor" in any press releases or fliers.
And his ludicrous demands didn't end there -- we're told Juan agreed to a 15-person meet-and-greet on the condition no one asked about his reality show stint. Same rule goes for reporters looking for interviews.
Best part -- he's getting around $20,000.
Oh yeah, Nikki -- whom JP ultimately settled on by the end of the show -- will be there too. That is, if they're still together.

He said he was done with TB weeks ago! Kudos to him for sticking to his guns. He is real and he's okay with what anyone thinks of him good or bad as long as it's respectful because he's being true to himself! I love that about himRollingEyes wrote:For anyone who doesn't think this guy is a famewhore looking to stretch his 15 minutes.....

I respect your right to call both "famewhores" however I just think they both took advantage of the opportunity to make around $20,000 for a few hrs doing nothing much.

Sean Lowe appeared at this very same venue on May 2013. Do you think Sean is advising Juan Pablo on how to stretch his 15 minutes?
BTW - love your avi.

He HAS to negotiate without using The Bachelor title, otherwise, he will have to give a percentage of his earnings to NZK every time he is paid for any gig he does, using that title. This has always been included in the leads contract. This is why they all sign up with managers who can help them with negotiations and find ways of circumventing that clause. It is not always possible, but the more appearances they can get without the use of their Bachelor/ette title (everyone knows that is why they got the gig anyway!), the more money they can make.
IMHO, it will be foolish of him (or anyone else, for that matter) to not take up every positive opportunity that comes his way, as a result of being The Bachelor. It's just that in his case, he has allowed his mouth to run ahead of him, and it's still running, such that he can easily be viewed as being disingenuous every time he profits from his fame.
Now, no need to jump on NZK, this is just good business. Period.
