Litta, could you give me heads up whether those 2 women were taking the same route to get to FRC? are the individual SCs captured  and compared suggesting the exact same backrops of their shots?

Here's my take -- early alone shots of Juan Pablo indicate the sun was bright and filled the podium area. There is a pathway to get to the FRC location that each girl must walk, much of it heavily shaded by trees.

We can see sun on Nikki's arms and shoulders during some of her caps, but mostly on just the her right side (our left), indicating the sun was at an angle...not directly overhead...unless it was just a weird canopy that she was under at that point on the path.

Clare's shots are not taken at the same point on the path so the sunlight to Nikki is not a fair comparison. It could be that the sun was under a cloud at that precise moment...or that there were no holes in that part of the canopy to let any light pass through in any part of that shot...or Clare arrived after the sun angle would not have hit that part of the forest, meaning later than Nikki.

In "fairness," there is no way that I can make a judgement on this. I don't have the expertise. mura, how's that for a non-answer to your question.   

nd, IMO, the staged shot of Juan at the podium indicates a very bright sun. It's doubtful to me that it would have been a morning FRC with sunlight that bright on the West side of the island...but what do I know?

To me, the sun looks very low when Nikki arrives, you can see it on her arm. For most of the history of the show, the F1 has always arrived near sundown. The F2 arrives an hour or so prior to the F1, so they can film the break up, and get them out of there before the F1 arrives. Even though it's hard to compare the SC's, since they are on different paths, In my opinion, Nikki is arriving way too close to sundown for her NOT to be the F1.

I vaguely remember someone commenting on the reason why TPTB would put up back-to-back episodes...maybe JBF? The reasoning was somewhat along the lines to take our focus off of what just happened, meaning the HTDs. Certainly there was nothing huge that connected HTDs to FDs. So why the b2b?

Yeah... I thought something kooky would happen during fantasy dates that would have "All of America" in suspense for two more weeks... and maybe both Andi and Nikki left. The only curio about that STUPID episode was "what was Nikki crying about?" That shot was teased over and over but never shown. We can SPECULATE that she was crying over Andi's departure. Her facial reaction over the news was genuine shock... since she and Andi had a discussion in Miami insinuating (in so many words) that their connections with Juan were better than the others and likely saw themselves as the final two. Nikki is still in the dark about Vietnam. All of the ladies are in the dark about Ocean Romp, although everybody but Nikki and Renee saw his intense focus on Clare during the group date. (After all, it was his casual mention of an overnight with Clare that started Andi's eagerness to leave.)

Yet... I now realize you are right. Viewers needed to be distracted by Clare's hometown. Despite all of the drama with Laura (which could have been instigated by a handler for all we know), the body language was too different from the other three hometowns for the editors' comfort.

Most viewers consider Nikki's hometown the best... and for good reason. Her parents are total sweethearts. Her family is the type we want to get adopted into... like Chris Lambton's in Ali's season.

What I see them doing in the finale is have Nikki do most of the talking... "I was the one who saw Camilla." "I will make a better stepmom than Crazy Clare." "I am confident that he never got over Andi leaving and I now have the best connection with him." All of America will, of course, believe her since there will be yet ANOTHER curve-ball thrown at the Juan/Clare relationship that gets her to doubt her chances. Then... BAM! (Just one last question: Was Victoria's rage and Andi's fight a foreshadow of an even bigger explosion in the finale?)

I see the HTD "distraction" very differently from you and Litta123. If Clare's HTD was intended to be a distraction they would not have shown it last and left the viewers with the final impression of her HTD fixed in their minds.

IA. I think Nikki's HTD seem to be the hidden one with less time and therefore less shown. As far as the shots of JP & Nikki vs JP & Clare, remember Brad 2's season? They tried to hide the chemistry with Emily (not hide her obviously) and I remember there being a gap between them on the FD and HTD vs the obvious chemistry with Chantal. The same thing if you go back to Andy's season. I didn't particularly like either of the f2 that much but Bevin was in your face with the chemistry while Tessa was the more cautious one.

I also agree with your deductions, rosesrRed. It looks to me like Nikki arrives late in the day and has to be close to sunset with the sun on the back of her head.

The impression that the AfterBuzz hosts (and probably many viewers) is that Laura made it an "awkward" date. Just because Litta and I are noticing the striking body language does not necessarily mean "All Of America" is. So it probably didn't matter when they showed it. As Auntie suggested, the F1s often get edited as either #3 or #4 anyway. (Roberto was one of the exceptions.)

To me, Juan Pablo clearly felt at ease with Clare's family...in spite of Laura (Lara?).

One similarity between Clare/Juan and Nikki/Juan is the frequent looking-away in front of the cameras. You see this in four shots above.

In a way, this works in either favor since Nikki told Juan in Korea that "science" proves that girls who are attracted to their man look away. Of course, this may apply to Juan as equally as the ladies. We see HIM looking at Clare constantly as SHE looks away.

I think the reason Juan is almost always beside Clare in group situations (despite her habit of muscling in to that spot each time), is so that he isn't facing her directly. Again... this shot in Vietnam still has me amused. Is he rubbing his eyes because they bother him or is he trying to avoid all of the other "eyes" noticing his blushing?

Obviously their relationship leaped forward in Vietnam (like Ash/JP in Hong Kong, Sean/Cath in Alberta, Des/Chris in Munich) to the point that her crying prompted loooooong sitdowns with additional It's OK's over and over and over. (One reason Andi got sick of It's OK was because there was a lot less emotion behind it when spoken to HER.)

In group dates without Clare, he is frequently sitting by Renee, probably because she was his emotional F2 (and had to be eliminated before things got serious in St. Lucia).

We also get more of these kinds of shots with Clare...

Yes, Nikki/Juan had a longer goodbye on her front porch than he had with Clare at the car -- but he had a make out sesh with her before she walked him to the car.

I'm pretty sure Renee's bouquet included a sunflower. Andi & Clare both had white bouquets.

I'm interested in seeing how JP's parents interact with each other. Are they openly affectionate or more reserved? Trying to figure out what's the norm for JP because as someone mentioned somewhere in the forum, he really takes his cue from whichever woman he is with so I'm not sure what HE prefers.

Thank you Litta….i just noticed that Clare's entrance from a distance from outside and I noticed he kissed her before entering the home.  Andi was the only HTD that got flowers and chocolates.  (I have 62 inch HTD tv and it was chocolates he brought to Andi's home)….so if we are comparing differences that one also.  But the kiss at the door going in was cute I thought. JMO
