She says with about $80k in diamonds on her finger. This is something I don't get. Their budget can't be that strict.

I get it though: $30-40 every couple of weeks is a lot of money if you are trying to buy a house. It's something that is easy to do for yourself and if you put that money in the bank it's a $1000 a year. I'd do it and then treat myself for a special occasion. If small changes like this allow them to have an independent career rather than punching a clock they should be commended for their thriftiness.
We just recently retired at 60 so I know that small cuts in the budget mean free time to enjoy life!

I guess she means it isn't something she'd fork out the money for regularly now that her media appearance are probably over. Obviously if she wanted a mani, she can more than afford one without it making a dent in their future plans (for now).

But with her rings in the shot, it does leave room for people to make annoying comments and take her caption way too seriously. Her nails are an afterthought, I was marvelling at her bling! giggling

I guess they are saving for their dream house and are being super strict with money. She should still put some polish on those nails though, got to dress up those diamond rings lol.

I'd also like to know if Sean is giving up anything. Being a guy, he might not have too many splurges though.

Don't mind me, I'm a fanatic about my nails. I've given up many things just to keep them looking purty.

And hopefully this means they bought or are soon to buy their house and are adjusting their spending to accommodate all the imminent housing expenses,

It may not be that strict but perhaps she decided it wasn't necessary any more. She can obviously afford one if she wanted to, but if it's a weekly or bi-weekly thing, it does add up. I know my mom gave up her manicure habit for a year when her and my dad wanted to buy a bigger house. They used that money for some renovations when we moved in.

But I can already hear the annoying comments that are most likely on her picture saying they should actually work if she wants to always have a manicure or that how can she not afford it with a ring like that.
