It's kind of crazy because weather.com says it's very cold and very windy.... but otherwise clear. If you're looking at the city, however, that cold wind might be creating lake effect snow at Soldier Field.

Still not seeing how that's possible. My cousin lives within 5 miles of O'Hare and there is zero snow on the ground or falling. But whatever. Sean's probably not flying out tonight unless he gets on that AA flight leaving in just over an hour.

Look at it this way, there are plenty of worse things they could endorse. Truthfully, I don't really have a problem with it because it's not something new and it will mostly likely be a short-lived thing.

he was probably on a Delta itinerary because I don't think American flies out of Jackson Hole ... if so, based on the time of his tweet I suspect he missed the early afternoon flight from Salt Lake to Chicago (for whatever reason, including the possibility he overslept and missed the early morning flight to Salt Lake City); he would have landed in Salt Lake at 2 pm MT, but the afternoon flight from Salt Lake City left at 1:47 pm. If my speculating is correct, it means he could have been put on a later afternoon flight to Chicago, but then he'd have missed the last Delta flight of the night from Chicago to New York. So he had a choice: stay in Salt Lake City for the night and fly nonstop to New York (JFK) on the first or second flight of the day tomorrow; or fly to Chicago tonight and spend the night near O'Hare. Looks like he chose option #1 and stayed in Salt Lake City so he could fly nonstop tomorrow.

anyway, that's my story and I'm sticking to it (until it's proven inaccurate - which is probably a likely scenario, lol)

That makes sense and it could also be no seats on the flights he needs. There are lots of stranded flyers trying to get somewhere! Of course our favorite twitter friend sees sinister motives in all of this, even involving Mark Kurian, I guess since he lives with you know who!

NYC snow is due to start around 7 am and taper off in the late afternoon/early evening leaving 2-4 inches of mess. Probably lots of delays and cancellations at the airports. Hopefully they will travel to arrive tomorrow night.

American Airlines does fly into and out of Jackson Hole according to their website. But only Delta and United were today. So he was on one of the afternoon flights to SLC. Both arrived before the last Delta flight left for Chicago. This is just all weird to me. I'm not really getting the cause for the cancelations. But it's whatever.

I agree that he's gone for the non-stop option from SLC. He cursed the ice storm... so his airline (AA?) might have had equipment issues causing the circuitous route.

actually, there was one final Delta flight from Salt Lake City to O'Hare today that he could have possibly been on (it departed about 90 minutes ago), but as I said earlier, that flight would have landed in Chicago after the last Delta flight to New York for the night had departed, meaning he'd be spending the night near O'Hare ... so I think he just decided he'd rather spend the night in Salt Lake and fly nonstop tomorrow morning into JFK (or Delta made the decision for him); as we now know, that's a risky situation because of the weather brewing in NYC and he may have some problems again tomorrow

I'm like everyone else ... I am starting to LOATHE this winter storm   

^I'm sensing by his tweet the decision was probably made for him.

And like I said, as of around an hour ago, it's certainly possible the guys won't get out of SLC tonight either so perhaps he will have company.

a Delta flight headed for DFW from Salt Lake City pulled away from the gate about 10 minutes ago, so the guys may be on that one ... maybe we'll get an update from Sean or one of the guys (if not, our board friend may blow up the twitterverse    )
