I, for one, hope you guys don't leave the board, although I realize that you might not be given that choice if this board goes away. I am not as passionate about Seancat as you guys, but harbor no ill will towards them. My point being that I have neither the time nor interest to invest searching out the nuggets that you all find and post here. That said, I appreciate knowing that I can come here and find the latest info about Sean and Catherine. Whatever is the latest scoop, you guys have it...or have figured it out before the media does. I appreciate that a lot.

That's something I appreciate about this board as a whole. There's always a handful of posters that keep certain threads update to date...even if the posts are sporadic, the big, significant news is usually posted about a couple or individual. Collectively this board is such a great resource for fans of The Bachelor/ette and shows of the like who like to peek behind the curtain.

My question for you would be, if you go through the effort of setting up a new board for the "what if" scenario, what happens if this board continues? (To clarify, the situation would be that the mods don't come back before your deadline so you guys set up a new board. However, this board continues...because the license doesn't expire or the mods come back, but after you made the effort to create the new board.) Would you collapse the new place...or just move on from here?

I guess what I am saying is that I would hate for you guys to leave. I value what you contribute to this place. Yet I know that if I went through all the hard work of setting up a new forum, I don't know that I would want to throw away that effort. Posting the same information in two different forums becomes cumbersome...even though I know some of us still do it.

I'm hoping this becomes a moot point and that the mods come back before you guys have to make your decision to build a new "happy place". Anyway, I just thought I'd share my lurker thoughts.

To answer your question from my perspective, I would want us to stay here as close to the potential expiration of this board or til the wedding is almost here and we still have no mods. IF we set up this board, the set-up would begin at the date we determine and then we would tell post to post on the new one starting on say, the 1st of the year. I just don't want to risk everything we've built over here and this great community. If this board did still continue on as the mods returned and/or it didn't expire, I would encourage people to return here.

I really hope none of this has to happen, but I want to have my ducks in a row if it does. I like being prepared.

I can't speak for everybody but IMO it would be irresponsible for us NOT to at least prepare for the possible expiration of this board. We are giving the mods a chance to come back but, TBH, it is they who left us hanging with no direction. If they come back in the interim of a new board being created and the wedding, then we can cross that bridge then. I guess we'd see what the majority wants to do. It's a choice I'd rather not make. I would prefer if they came back but we have no control over that. What we do have control over is making sure our SeanCat family stays together. This wedding is a VERY big deal to all of us.

I agree being prepared is the wisest way to go, but I like your thoughts that, for your part, you would encourage people to return here if this place continues. That's really generous on your part because of all the time required in setting up the new place...so I hope for your sake that this never needs to happen. (Btw, this potential new private board kinds of reminds me of our JED board *sniff*.)

lipsis, I couldn't agree with you more. You guys need to be prepared. You've invested too much of yourselves in this to see it all lost. I just wanted to let you know that I hope you guys don't go...but of course that predicates that the board as a whole doesn't go away.

P.S. I would probably ask for my name to be added to your list, though I would probably rarely post. I think umn would vouch for me that I'm "safe". :Smiley:

Oh those were some fun times on that board Litta, if not extremely stressful at times. But it was fantastic while it lasted.

Maybe they will be able to ensure that the site doesn't expire till the six month absent date - IE in March, and then umngirl and lipsis can take over as mods here. I'm no longer a frequent poster here, because real life is busy, but I was one of the first to help found this board and community and I'd hate to see it fall apart. Sorry about the links up top, I didn't have the patience to embed on mobile :)

I'm with fijibeachbum. I don't post very often either but I absolutely love this forum and would be depressed if I couldn't read all of your posts daily (actually several times a day). They have been gone since mid-August for what someone said. If they are gone for 6 months + 1 day, I believe new mods can be appointed and take over the mod duties. Another poster posted that the domain for this forum expires in mid January. So it's possible if that isn't renewed by then, the forum could be gone. This discussion is more about a back-up plan if the mods don't come back in a timely manner before it gets to the point of possible closure right before the wedding.
