While we do a good job at piecing together the true story, I don't know that we'll ever know (nor should we) the whole story.

Often during the airing, Sean would refer to certain conversations he'd have with the women which were not deemed "good tv"- generally ones about faith, which were not aired- rather like they won't air eating dinner (though Des was shown eating often), and other things. Sean often talked in the time between the b-ette and bachelor season about how he understands there is a TV show to produce- so some of the things they do, and certainly the editing, have to do with that- it is a TV show which they are trying to make compelling so the maximum audience will watch. I do believe that Sean was a very good soldier as it aired as well, to promote his season so that it would be watched. We complain about CH's blogs, that they are sometimes (often) not flattering either to the lead or to a frontrunner. But he, too, is marketing the program and trying to build as much of an audience as he can. Those of us who are on this board are far more informed about this show than the general public, so we question those interviews/blogs which don't seem to jive with what our fairly well-informed eyes are telling us. But the vast majority of viewers are accepting of the story they're being fed.

So my eyes told me that Sean was in love with Catherine long before Thailand. But I do think he honored each woman enough to develop a relationship with each one- it just wasn't a relationship which would lead to marriage- there was only one which would lead to that. I do think Sean was coached to tell his family that he didn't know who he would choose. And I do think that when Sean took his mother for a little walk because she was crying, that he let her know that he did know who he would choose and she shouldn't worry (though it's likely that he didn't tell her who- he just didn't like to see her upset unnecessarily).

I've really hesitated to say this but I happen to know Neil Lane and I will be seeing him probably in October. I'll ask him but I don't know if he's under a confidentiality contract not to give out any information and I certainly wouldn't push it.

Interesting theory, you could be right. He probably felt so bad that his mother was crying that he told her the truth, that he wasn't torn, without telling her who he was picking.

I really have complete faith that he knew much much early on whom he's going to propose to, but then again why was Catherine always on the chopping block in the last RC's, and Sean looked real pensive, tormented and TORN, i hope it was all for show, that the producers/editors did some serious editing to make us believe that he was torn up to the last minute,  

Well at the F4 RC, it was down to Cat and Des per rose order because they had the only HTD with some drama. And the F3 RC, his hesitation wasn't because he was torn, it was because he felt extremely bad about sending AshLee home.

Yes, I've always thought this. It was never going to be Cat that he was sending home, but he had already given roses to Ashlee and Lindsay, and he couldn't take them back without looking like a jerk, and he definitely wasn't going to send Cat home. He felt bad enough to send Des home, but then when she pulled him aside and apologized, he felt even worse and was having a hard time doing it, knowing it was going to really hurt her. I really respect how much he didn't like to hurt people. Being the Bachelor is good in some ways, but in other ways, it has to be very difficult, because you know that you are going to reject 24 people to find that special one. But if you find the love of your life like Sean did, it's worth it in the end.

I have thought this even more since CH admitted that the lead has told the F1 (or possible F1-like Brooks) "I Love You" before the end, but that it just hadn't aired before. Indecision was Sean's story line.... so that's how it was edited to the end whether it was the reality or not. Thankfully, whatever his story line for purposes of the TV show, Catherine knows the reality.

Yes, they made it look like he was so torn between AshLee and Cat but it was because he knew AshLee was in love with him and that she was an extremely emotional person and would take it badly.   He felt bad about hurting her, not that he was torn between her and Cat.  People cannot put much stock in the order that names are called out at the RC's.  They have to mix it up and not call out the person they like the most.  It always seemed like Catherine was second to last and that she was on the chopping block but it's just for the show.  You can't think the first name called is the one he likes the most.

I am very glad that Lipsis asked Catherine the question about the birthday date because it has generated some great discussion.

We definitely needed something to talk about since they have pretty much dropped from public view. I am really needing a nice picture of the two of them!
