Living, as Vomo runs in a NW direction and the "mountain island" (don't know it's name) off the tip, I would think the sunset would occur at the 10 o'clock position on the sc above, not the 11 o'clock position...am I making any sense?

Remember the sc with GSG and the light was on Ash's left shoulder.




ninu, great job....from what you found and the pics of the sunset, does this confirm my position that the sunset should be over the 'mountain island', more like between 9 and 10 o'clock on the above sc?

Also: sunset means the point when the sun is @ the horizon - it doesn't go pitch black, I'm sure they'll have till 6-6:30 to wrap things up at least. I'll go try to find some google earth pictures in a few minutes so we can try to match up where the plane docks!

THANK YOU! I think it only goes "pitch black" during an eclipse, at least since I've been on the planet! Sunset is gradual.

In Europe, it is very gradual and it does not go pitch black either. But, personally, I have been in several, several tropical countries which lie close to the equator. The sun goes down gradually, but it takes about 5 minutes to go from dusk to pitch black.

I thought that clump thats supose to be corral looks like fish netting laying on the ground . i do not see a podium either .

1) Remember the FRC is at the tip of Vomo closer to Vomo Lailai.
2) The sea plane came in to the east of the Island where the picture is showing which is not the FRC venue.
3) FRC are in the afternoon and usually not in the mornings.
4) It needs time for the F2 to come, filming to take place, them to have a heart to heart chat, Ashley to cry, Ashley to compose herself, Ashley to redo her make up. THEN, the F1 arrives.
5) Sunset is at 5.47. Meaning at 5.48 the place is pitch black. So filming would start at least 30 minutes before sunset to cater for eventualities. Meaning F1 will arrive about 4:45 to give him time to walk to FRC spot.
6) Note the shadow for 4pm and 5pm on the DSG with white shirt COULD BE later than 4pm.
7) Meaning either the F1 came after dark, or the F2 came about 1:30/2pm.

Living it amazing what you are doing..I sure wish I could wrap my pea brain around everything you have done and said..and even your maps are awesome..I am Just wondering if they somehow change the color of the suits so some of the dark ones could be really the grey suits..LOL..And I agree that the F2 would have to be no later than 2 pm to get everything done to have enough time for everything you said above..

Twlight does change depending where you are located and season but I found this for May 13th for Fiji. I hope I have the right date. It is even longer if you use nautical twilight.

what's most distressing to me is that there is no podium in sight - where is it?? It's always been prominent - not part of the decoratvie edging.

The rose is resting on that big rock/coral.

that seems to be the popular consensus - but all the podiums we've ever had have been prominently displayed, not blending in with the edging.

anders - I thought exactly the same thing and I'm probably still thinking this.

That little spec of red that we saw in some other SC just didn't cut it for the finale rose.

Lets assume thats not a proper podium and thats not the final rose on there. (not seen in this SC but we saw another one where theres a tiny reddish spec lol).

Would anyone consider that she never indended handing this final rose out on the FRC day ?

Does the lead always stand by the podium for the shot watching the boat, plane, person arriving? Maybe this shot of Ash is from another angle and the podium is just not shown


Or to have further fun with the emoticons maybe she did not plan to become engaged to either, maybe date one or both IRL so didn't plan on giving either a rose.LOL!!!

Please don't shoot me (and I'm still unable to locate the original preview of GSG so I haven't done this for him yet) but here's another take on the location/time of the FRC :D


Vomo is the big island, and Vomo Lailai is the little island on the screen. The FRC takes place on the leftmost tip of Vomo, since in the FRC preview shots you can see Vomo Lailai in the background. Also, due to the orientation of Vomo, the sunrise starts in the bottom corner of the island... therefore, even the brightest sun shots are later in the day than you would expect.

The rest of the Google Earth images are oriented the same way that the FRC platform is, so you can check the compass in the top right for directions.

The lighting in this picture matches that of when Ash is waiting for the first guy to come in (too early for it to be F1) so I'd place that at around 2:00-2:30PM (I believe this was confirmed by shadow analysis earlier as well )
The lighting is also similar in this next shot, with the light brighter and coming from above as opposed to the softer, orangey glow you'd expect with sunsets.


I couldn't find the GSG preview so I'm just going to throw this picture in here of what the sunset would be at - I'm sure it's going to be gorgeous setting behind Vomo Lailai and it also explains why F1 steps to his right and pulls Ash around... the FRC platform is a little bit off to FRAME the sunset unless they move :D

I found this really clear shot of curved thumbs when I was digging through the preview: JMO, but I'm convinced that DSG is Ben F.
