great post karenap63, I agree with all you have written.  I was looking at some of the Des and Chris stuff this morning and was reminded of DeAnna and Jesse post show. there are a lot of strong similarities there.  DeAnna moved quickly to Jesse's and lived there with him, they took all these photo ops, attended opening of shows and awards, many public appearances, displays of them together enjoying each other like eating ice cream, going to the park, washing their car, playing in the snow, etc, all the nick names for each other and ILY's, etc... that is until the obligated time limit was up.  DeAnna has publicly admitted that Jesse was her ticket to end the show with some thread of 'dignity', her save face factor.  I see Des and Chris much the same.  I hope for Des' sake the relationship lasts and does not end up like De and Jesse's... but they are strikingly similar to me.  I am happy that Brooks has moved on from the bachelorette franchise and is continuing to be himself in life.  he has that c'est la vie attitude that just drives some people to distraction, but it is what keeps him above the fray.  I am amazed that the threads for Brooks continue to be the hot beds of contention on this forum.

If Des is that good of an actress in the video link below, it's fair game to revisit that break-up scene. You can't have it both ways. There are no hints of faking it here. They both want to be married and start a family. He was the supportive guy there for her the whole time. He's total eye candy and now she is sleeping with him, so hardly seems impossible that her love for him has grown off camera. I didn't want her to end up with him after part 1, but the post show evidence is a lot stronger than a photo op of eating ice cream together or grocery shopping. They could have easily said they were still getting to know one other and she would move soon or said they were getting separate apts. I'm sure being his "lover" is not in the ABC contract. Plus there's a pic of them holding hands when they didn't know they were having their picture taken. I think you have to expect some push back if you are going to claim they are just in it for $$$$.

I was one who always saw a connection between Des and Brooks and later Chris and Des.  I am reserving judgment on the couple as of now and certainly wish everybody involved well but I do have 1 question (1) How do you know that they are sleeping together (is there proof of this?) it's not a good idea to make any assumptions about anything when we have no proof of anything including everyone's feelings and actions during and post-show. IMO

On the whole DeAnna/Jesse, Des/Chris comparison thing, as much as I'm still speculative about Des and Chris, for the obvious reasons, I think they are quite different from DeAnna and Jesse. I may not remember all these details correctly, but here are some impressions: First, Des had a career where she was living before she moved to be with Chris; DeAnna didn't really have much going on (I believe she was listed as a real estate agent but only just started and was, in reality, working in a bar). Second, DeAnna and Jesse were always the unlikely pair, while Chris actually seems like a solid match for Des. Third, there were lots of rumors and hints about Jesse being in it all for self-promotion long before DeAnna's season ever finished airing; with Chris, there hasn't been anything like that. Fourth, Des has a much stronger story line than DeAnna ever did, with her whole falling-for-the-wrong-guy background and discovering what she needed instead.

Of course, we aren't party to the actual truth and may never be, but my nature is to give these couples a chance, no matter what little things I'm seeing.

The show is such a short time frame for getting to know anyone, the couples don't really advance beyond crush, lust or infatuation before jumping to a proposal. In my mind Des could never have been in love with Brooks (and was not actually in love yet with Chris, either) during filming. Furthest she got was crush, lust or infatuation. That a person really can get over.

I do give Brooks credit for not letting the bubble get to him, and for recognizing/being honest about his feelings or lack there-of. He seems like a good guy. I enjoyed watching him.

They are referencing lover and loverr in their tweets. Plus, she is going to live with a guy who is madly in love with her, all while she herself is not into it? Seems like a mighty cruel thing to do to Chris and something he would not be interested in. And they are going to involve all his friends in the charade? They portrayed her as "not that type of girl". It would have been more understandable if they would have gotten separate apartments. The fact that they are living together was actually a surprise.

Here is the KOMO news video that Grace referenced above. I don't see her pretending and upheaving her life for some 6 months commitment, she could have stayed in LA and used the publicity to get bridal design gig going.

Post-show, I think it worked out for the best. I could see Des being compatible with either Chris or Zak of the final four. I'm not so sure about Drew, and as we know, not Brooks. Three of her final four were supportive and there for her the whole time, not just Chris. I get the impression that Des is really a "living in the moment" type person. I think she had feelings for a lot of the guys, or at least gets emotional easily. She was emotional when Bryden left, when James left, etc. and these were early in the show. Most of the guys were "eye candy", but for me personally, Chris would have been about 7th or 8th in who I thought was more attractive in the looks department, but that's not what I would mainly consider when choosing a mate. I see some similarities between Jesse/Deanna and Des/Chris, but I really think this one is going to work. They seem more mature and know what they want, which isn't the fame and bright lights of Hollywood.

I think Des wanted Brooks on the show and once he left she was devastated. But she has her pride and its like Nate said she wanted to get married and realized that Chris was there and wanted her. She was not in love with Chris when she accepted his proposal but she does now. I really believe that but I still think she will always have a "what if" with Brooks.
I agree with afterawhile that she still may have had some unresolved feelings at ATFR because she shook her "no" while she said "yes" that she had closure with Brooks. And its understandable. But yes, Chris is the better match if she was looking to settle down. Of  course she and Chris are sleeping together. Now that the show is over Des has double down on Chris and will work hard to make it work.
