That being said, it's the format of the show that made him cut it short with Des rather than play it out to see if those feelings would develop. The pressure to propose at the end, the "competition" with other guys, the not trusting the situation, and even the not knowing that he could trust Des in what he felt they had together (after all, others thought they felt it too) caused him to walk.

Great post….I agree with everything you have said. I am hoping everyone is where they should be right now in their lives.

Maybe Des broke down some of those walls he had around his heart and can find what he's looking for.

yeah I think naysayers want us to be depressed about it forever or something. At the exact moment it played out I was definitely disappointed but ultimately esp with Brooks finally being allowed to talk, I am fine with it and very proud of Brooks as a human being who didn't let himself get caught up in the whole "glory" of being the winner and didn't force it with Des. I mean it can be spun by the naysayers however it best feeds their imaginations but if Brooks stayed, Brooks was getting the final rose. End of story. But it was never for him about getting the roses or "winning." He came to see if he would be able to find the love of his life. He didn't feel like he did and followed his heart and gut. I completely admire and respect him for that. He deserves to fully and completely be in love with whoever it is he marries.

it's like they were hoping he might try to ask her to date in real life or even propose so that on live tv she could then say she was engaged to Chris and "stick it to him" for daring to leave and think the process through like a normal human. TPTB have no conscience whatsoever. So glad Brooks squashed any of those dreams. I bet the producers were wishing for him to try to get her back just so the drama would escalate out of the building and through tvs.
