Kristen Baldwin
'The Bachelorette' finale part 1: 'Worst day of my life!'
Wow. Am I right, rose lovers? Just wow. There’s really no way for me to discuss what just went down in Antigua without revealing some major spoilers, so I’ll just ask, did any of you see that coming? I sure didn’t. While of course there is still a chance that Des’ journey isn’t “over,” as she put it, and that some miracle occurs in part 2 of the finale that allows her to have a happily ever after, but… even if that did happen, it seems like all of the air has been sucked out of the romance balloon for our Bachelorette. I will admit, as someone who does read the “spoiler” sites, it was actually pretty nice to be surprised by this show — it hasn’t happened in a long time. Kudos, Team Bachelorette, for whatever voodoo you did to keep tonight’s events under wraps. Stay tuned for my full recap later tonight (UPDATE: Click over for Kristen’s full Bachelorette recap and Chris Harrison’s exclusive behind-the-scenes Bachelorette blog), and in the meantime let me know your thoughts on what just happened. Are you shocked, mad, sad, elated, giddy — or all of the above? What will happen next week? And this season suddenly just got a whole lot more interesting, didn’t it?

thanks for the recap nutty!
grrr. drew is an adult child of an alcoholic. that will screw you up and make you seem "different" than the average joe. also, he took care of his disabled sister probably every day for years, since i'm sure his mom had to work to support them. he really had a rough childhood so yeah he's not your average joe.nutty1 wrote:I do not think Drew is gay.
wow. can't believe she had to watch it all happen. geez. they are truly evil.
About how they tell the F1 to be prepared to not get picked. And how they told molly jason loved her and he'd probably pick her.
And how Molly could see Jason propose to Melissa from her condo.
yeah, they barely know each other. awkward. And how after the proposal, they put them in a room for a few days, and how odd it is, because you hardly know them.
her parents were smart not to want to be apart of this show. They also pushed him to propose. He even called Melissa's parents and said he wasn't going to propose.
yea!Molly said no way is Brooks not coming back and no way is she not choosing him.

And how the producers went behind Jason's back and called Melissa's parents after Jason had previously called them and told them he wasn't going to propose - he hadn't met them yet. The producer told Melissa's parents that he probably was going to propose. That podcast explains a lot! I wished someone would have asked how did they feel toward the producers after all of that manipulation and lies.
mustang, they did say that all the producers who had a conscience have left.

Well didn't that group/crew produce their wedding? Strange family .

True, Jason did say that. The producer he thought was nice left the show and is doing philanthropy work. He said the producers that can't take the manipulation any more end up leaving.

I know! Weird, right? I think there was a moment in their podcast where they were about to say something (negative) about what MF and company does, and stopped themselves, and then said something like everyone knows, or it's already known. I would really like to hear what conversation goes on afterwards. Like did Molly say WTH? Why did you tell me he was going to pick me. I would feel so betrayed. Maybe it's in the contract that they sign, but still. That would be hard for me to swallow.

Yep. And just the other night they showed Molly & Jason, with baby in tow showing up at one of the viewing parties. Do they love the show or hate it? It is really hard to tell.

Love Kristen's recaps. You guys should read her whole recap. She is usually quite funny and snarky, but even she was pretty straightforward with just describing how gut-wrenching and emotional it was. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
My favourite parts:
"That said, I think the poor guy is just exhausted from second, third, fourth, and fifth-guessing himself, and the reality is this: Brooks is the first finalist in franchise history to realize – or, at least, to admit publicly -- that life inside the Bachelor/Bachelorette bubble can make you feel like you're madly in love, but that doesn't make it true."
and later
"Well, damn -- that was rough. Am I a complete sucker, or was that actually the most dramatic (first part of a) finale in Bachelorette history... EVER? Though I generally have no sympathy for reality TV contestants (they have no one to blame but themselves, after all), even I would give poor Des a hug after the brutality we witnessed tonight."

Why? What do they say?
Disclaimer: This is not in response to the posters above--just response into the convo.
What totally blows me away is posters have been coming out and saying so much of this manipulation and producer ploys for years and being totally doubted and labeled all kinds of not nice things because what they have stated is not something acceptable for those wearing rose colored glasses. The convo regarding the contract and what cast are legally bound to--ditto.
This stuff disclosed in the podcast has been around for a long time and and new plot twists will only continue to jump the shark because that's what the creators are all about.
Anyway, just something to put out there one more time when someone posts something that may go against the romantic rainbow fabric of the franchise.
No good deed goes unpunished.

Do you know the producer he's talking about? The one that left?

First let me say I like Jason & Molly, so this is not a slam against them. I caught one of those 'after the show'
videos and Graham was the guest. They talked about J & M podcast and Graham suggested that their statements were a little off, perhaps their interpretation. Take it for what you will. I was just surprised that Graham of all people was defending TPTB.

No, because there are quite a bit of people that were asso. w/the show that are no longer--so was it due to morality issues and possibly moving on to a better job, too? (handler/producer terms might be interchanged)
Think about it, we all move on to other jobs and tell our old employers and co-workers we are moving on for various reasons. Reasons are often intertwined. (marriage and parenthood, moving on up, etc)
Going back that many years, I can off the top of my mind think of half a dozen no longer working with this franchise that would have the label--"producer".
The important role Cassie had she did not have during Jason's season--same with Amy Bean---they have more prominence now.
Bottom line is--the people asso w/show are not the glowing people we make them out to be. Posters are quick to point out that if these people were so awful why would past cast hang out with them--well notice Molly/Jason pulled themselves back from discussing certain issues and keep in mind contracts bind people for years. As time goes on relationships with the show wane--thankfully.
No good deed goes unpunished.
