Maybe he should have said change of heart instead of wishy-washy then.

Re: The Bachelorette 9 - Media Discussion Thread - Spoilers
So how does this finale play out now?
Harrison: There's nothing typical about this finale. It begins with her and I sitting down and putting the pieces together of where we go from here. Are you going to give these other guys a chance and if so how is that even possible? But the other dynamic here is that Chris and Drew have no clue because we separate everybody at this point. So we also have to deal with that there are two really good guys who very much love her and we owe it to them to have a conversation and tell them what happened. And then there's Brooks. If anybody was ever set to come back and be wishy-washy, it's him. There's definitely that option.
He's summarizing essentially our recurring conversation on this board all season about the conflicts of this season. Des' conflict involves choosing the wrong guy. Brooks' conflict was if he loved Des or not. Once Brooks' departed, as this interview verifies, it opens the door for conflict with the other two guys: how do they respond to her breakdown over Brooks? Will they stay?
I'd argue one minute that Brooks' conflict is over. In the next minute, I'd say that we saw a glimpse of a guy who misjudged things, and he may need to come back to resolve his own conflict. I'm just not sure that Brooks' return resolves Des' conflict now. For her to overcome her conflict of choosing the wrong guy, I think she'd choose one of the guys who is not her ex-boyfriend reincarnated.
I do like Brooks. It seems though that he has some misconceptions about love.

Re: The Bachelorette 9 - Media Discussion Thread - Spoilers
I don't call it misconceptions about love. I call it producers messing with his mind to the point of him not knowing which end is up.
I think he was told something different regarding Des' feelings towards him or her feelings towards the other guys. Brooks was afraid to fully let himself commit to Des in this situation because he was afraid of getting hurt. He was totally surprised when she told him she loved him, but at that point I don't think he could pull a 180.
This is the same thing that happened to Jeremiah in SHA. He was afraid to commit to Paige because of what he was being told behind the scenes.
ETA: Chris Harrison said he is very protective of the girls. He is dissing Brooks left and right because of that reason. To call him wishy-washy, whether right or wrong, shows he has a total lack of respect for Brooks. I think he agrees with most of the viewing audience, that even if Brooks comes back and they are engaged, it doesn't bode well for their future.

Desiree must decide if her chemistry with the remaining two men has the potential to be as intense as the chemistry she had with Brooks, who she thought was the love of her life. She confronts these life-changing decisions in a discussion with Chris Harrison, weighing the possibilities of a life with Chris or Drew. Drew, a sweet, compassionate and caring man, is completely in love with her. Chris has remained confident in their connection throughout the emotional rollercoaster ride. Desiree sees a relationship blossoming with him as well.
After breaking down in tears with Chris Harrison, she is ready to face the final two men. In a moving confession, she tells them that Brooks has decided to leave. How will the men react when they learn of her feelings for Brooks?
The final days of Desiree's journey are filled with questions. If she does see promise in either Chris or Drew, will she introduce them to her family? Whether they meet her family or not, will Desiree's brother, Nate, play a role in sabotaging her quest for love again? Desiree must look inward and consider if the love she has always wanted is right in front of her, or if her heartache over Brooks' lost love will crush her dreams of finding a soul mate.
The two remaining men are:
Chris, 27, a mortgage broker from Seattle, WA
Drew, 27, a digital marketing analyst from Scottsdale, AZ

Re: The Bachelorette 9 - Media Discussion Thread - Spoilers
yes....well it does NOT imply that Brooks returns and I would think if Brooks really did return that they'd want to tease us with that? Unless they start to in the upcoming week, then I don't think Brooks is coming back.

That is a great comparison, Beeleever. I am not saying Brooks didn't have reservations, but they played into them big time, if you ask me.

Don't they do this just about every season? Placing doubt in the frontrunner; encouraging others that are not the pick, that they are.

Listen to Molly and Jason Mesnick's podcast from last week. They talk about frankenbiting and at the end, about producer manipulation on the Bachelor. It's very timely.
