It is " If you love something set if free, if it comes back it's yours , if not it never was " !! It's my favorite quote ..BarbB222 wrote:nannymargie wrote:BarbB222 wrote:atem wrote:BarbB222 wrote:I'm telling you folks... It's the Bach version of The Notebook:yes:
Seriously? Too funny. Which of the guys said that was his favorite? Wasn't that Robert?
Sometimes you have to lose something to realize how much you really wanted it. You can move on with someone else but that does not answer the What If.
How does that saying go: If you love something set it free, if it comes back it's meant to be. Well this really seems meant to be.
Exactly!

So maybe now we know where his "emotional process" line in the VO at the igloo comes from (saying that the James drama wasn't affecting his own emotional process iirc). That was TPTB putting that phrase and thought out there.

Plus there is on VO when she is saying she loves this man she also said she wanted to give him the world. So I can see her giving it her all to make him happy.
I hope so. At least it looks like they're still seeing each other and happy.

I think his emotions caught up quick when he realized he could loose her.
I understand he moves slower but he should have known that hometown date was a possibility. If he doesn't introduce many girls to his family it must have been a struggle for him.
I totally think this is what happens . . . and it's so romantic!

aren't like statements analogies? i can't remember it's been so long since i learned that stuff.
i didn't hear des say she was running to the finish line. oh boy! i thought she was just running. if so, she is way ahead of brooks. i do think he will catch up at the end. boy is going to need to sprint bigtime. as for having a big rift i think it can make you closer or leave cracks in your foundation. i think it all depends on how thoroughly it is resolved. jmo.

A simile is when you say something is LIKE something else.
E.g. He ran like the wind.
She was as delicate as a feather.
A metaphor is when you say somethin IS something else.
E.g. The road was a ribbon of moonlight.

Metaphor
A metaphor is a figure of speech that uses one thing to mean another and makes a comparison between the two. The key words here are “one thing to mean another.” So, when someone says “He’s become a shell of a man,” we know not to take this literally, even though it’s stated directly as if this person had actually lost his internal substance.
Simile
A simile compares two different things in order to create a new meaning. In this case, we are made explicitly aware that a comparison is being made due to the use of “like” or “as” (He’s like a shell of a man). For fun, the next time someone corrects you and says “That’s a simile, not a metaphor,” you can respond by letting them know that a simile is a type of metaphor, just like sarcasm is a type of irony. Resist the urge to be sarcastic in your delivery.
