I think one of the reasons that they are handing it to us on a platter is for JP's sake (assuming he is the final one). I believe that TPTB realized they made a critical error by throwing Chantal out there in our faces to the point where it jeopardized Emily and Brad's relationship.

Emily was not secure in seeing the story play out with Chantal and Brad especially with all the spoilers pointing to Chantal.
She even made comments after the fact that she wasn't 'that boring IRL'.

I think that possibly TPTB realize they can't afford to sabotage an other relationship for the sake of ratings and so they are making this a great story for the sake of the couple to watch (Ash and JP) as well as for the viewing audience.

Now, I could be wrong... having observed the Fleiss master for so many episodes...

You're right. It's actually Emily in disguise. Bentley is the one in the grey suit. He just came back from his vacay in Hong Kong and is ready to propose. Doesn't the edit make sense now? :awesome:

My thoughts on these distressed-looking screencaps from FRC:

1. When you show a SC of the lead looking distressed WITH a suitor , this is often meant to throw us off (i.e, Roberto frustrated on the bed)

2. When you show a SC of the lead looking distressed WITHOUT a clear shot of the suitor, it is meant to show she is distressed (i.e. Ali distressed and crying on the shoulder of someone - found later to be Chris L.) I think there are multiple shots of her looking clearly distressed at the FRC and if we can sleuth who she is so sad with, then we have our F2. IMO

I've been trying to play catch up with this thread all day and this just made the time completely worth it!!

I think it's probably because they realized how good an A&R ending is for their show versus what it's like to have a Brad and Emily ending/ATFR. There's no comparison for what happens post-show in terms of publicity and goodwill towards the whole franchise. Seriously, A&R's proposal is now featured in the Emmy ad they're running. So if there's a happy couple, it would make sense (to me, anyway) to encourage the relationship and the people involved.
