dw_a_mom -- great response!! I appreciate your common sense and ability to speak the truth without emotional irritation or attachment. You are obviously a bright woman!! Perhaps we can all move on from this way-too-predictable portion of the bachelorette season.

But, you know, I have an issue (general life, not specific to the poster who used the word) with the concept of good enough.  Absolutely no way would I consider family background to be part of any "good enough" equation.  Des is very self-made, she hasn't had any financial support, and that most likely will have shaped in many positive ways and given her a maturity few men her age can match.  She isn't her brother, nor is she her parents - who seem to be super loving, good and solid people, just not super successful.  What the heck is "good enough" anyway?  There is no good enough, just how well people treat each other, and how compatible they are.  We all deserve to be considered based on who we are, not who our relations are, and not what our pasts look like.  Character goes so far deeper than any of those things can tell us.  Who will participate in an illegal insider trading scheme?  Who will be an alcoholic?  Those both happen to seeming model citizens.  "Good" can be an illusion.

Brooks - the one thing that concerns me is his doubts about his feelings for Des.  He has every right to that, and it is healthy given the situation, but the history with this show is that when the lead pursues someone who is rather reluctant, it never works out.  I'd really like to see a relationship work out.

Agree totally on the question of who is good enough. We all should be judged on ourselves and our own accomplishments.

The other thing I want to address is the bolded. Often the producers highlight an issue with the relationship and use it in the storyline, but what they are actually doing is foreshadowing in their own way why a relationship won't work out. Looking back after the fact, we have often gone...Aha! So that's why they showed _____________!!! They know the full story about the lead and the contestants. They know everything that goes on between everyone involved and they also know how much they interfered/lead on/manipulated all of them. They know what really is REAL.

Great posts.

I would like to see the lead come to a self-realisation. Now that would be refreshing.

I don't mind him or have anything against him, but I am not drawn to him either. He is inoffensive to me and a little too soft for me. It's hard to explain what I mean by soft...not exactly metrosexual like Drew with the hair and I don't think he is gay or anything, just his voice, his mannerisms etc., don't seem to have that certain strength that I like in a male lead. I would have a problem with Drew or Chris for the same reason.

Brooks bland? Somehow I don't think he'd be bland. He'd have girls drooling and tearing each other's eyes out for him, though. I have no doubt they'd get vicious because Desiree is vicious over him. I'd be vicious over him. giggling And I think it'd be a pretty dramatic season. I don't know if Brooks would like it, though, or if he'd find all those women and tears exhausting. Despite kind of looking like a player, I don't think he is one and I think you kind of have to be on this show. He tends to be more of a listener, a person who likes to step back and let others in front, who does a lot of deep thinking. But, he's a good sport, spontaneous, fun, adventurous and everyone thinks he's funny and witty. no idea Don't you remember his funniness? (Before they decided to make him serious all the time, except when he's with Des?) I think he might be a hoot. He wore that red headband with flair and killed the Mr. America competition. giggling

And he just has those looks that drive a lot of women wild. Masculine side/feminine side good looks. Chiseled, scruffy, pretty, rugged, and an oddly elegant dresser. The perfect romantic figure without the beefy, bulky muscles. But at least he has broad shoulder, nice, long legs and long, slender man hands, unlike some others *looks at James*.

It's those soft qualities in him I find so irresistible. His voice is sexy. His brother has the same type of voice as Brooks, so it's not like it's an anomaly just in him in his family. I love the way he says Desiree's name—and I think she must, too. She turns into a puddle. He just has a real sexiness about him. Not brawniness. I love the way he holds himself, too. Shoulders back, neck, head straight, upper lip stiff. It's so regal. You can even see it in those pics of him with his girlfriend in Costa Rica.

He's all man where it counts. The rest is just an overlay that makes you go  . He's like an Aston Martin, my favorite car. Aston Martins are described as the perfect blend of masculine and feminine features. That's what makes Aston Martins such beautiful cars.

Different strokes for different folks. No doubt some women would fight over him if he became the Bachelor...producers would see to that. However, for me personally he does nothing. I don't find him to be all man, his voice is not sexy, his legs are scrawny, he does not make me drool and I do not find his bearing regal. Same with Drew and Chris. I really don't care if he ends up with Des or not since I am not finding her to be any more compelling then him. He clearly is your type and clearly not mine...although on paper, he could look like he is. Sean is not my type at all and there were other men on Emily's season initially who I found more attractive. However, as the season progressed and I got to know him better, he became more attractive and I became curious about him. That unfortunately is not happening this season. 🇳🇴

Yeah, basically this show has become an infomercial for places they travel to and such.

Anything I post means it's Just My Opinion.  Don't feel like posting it every time I post. So, I thought I'd get that out of the way.

Brooks could be a great bachelor since he can cater to women over 40. Imagine more than half of this board will probably join if he's the bachelor!

If Jef Holm and Brooks Forrester will be co- Bachelors they could cover women of all ages, Jef Holm 16 -21 Brooks will take care of the senior citizens.

Episode 8 (HTD's) - 7/18 - Bachelorette 9 - Discussion - Spoilers - Page 59 Empty Re: Episode 8 (HTD's) - 7/18 - Bachelorette 9 - Discussion - Spoilers

Post by charriotoffire Wed Jul 17, 2013 5:33 pm

Just watched the last epi. Desiree is a really pretty woman. Love how athletic she is and she
can hang with all kinds of families.

Why is it that Brooks always appears like he's under the weather? He always seems like he's recovering from

a stomach virus, his eyes are red, skin blotchy and his voice weak? I have this impression that if there will be a bachelor marathon, Brooks will be the first

to pass out before making it to the first two yards. Also his mom knows he's so not ready to get married. "He will get married when the right person comes

along" is code word for "No way, no go".

-Zak's family is so much fun. His mom is so cute and genuinely adores Des.

-So sorry for Chris' ex. She was piled on on national tv, his sister made sure america knows she's an insecure unlikable biatch.
Chris' sister and Des' brother Nate should date, so they can leave their siblings' dating life alone.
and I'd rather hear the poetry for 100th time than witness the snot draining. But Chris is super super nice. He is the type who will NEVER EVER cheat on you

-Drew. (I didnt know he has chicken legs) I like Drew's dad. Drew is way much better a fantasy object, in pictures that in real life. I get
why women salivates on him. But he is not a man yet, he is a pubescent boy pretending to be a man. I know he's been through a lot in his life, who
doesnt but.. he just doesnt exude the raw animal power of a man. If he'll be the bachelor, he will look like the boytoy next to the overly made up
hoochies that will join the show. Also it doesnt help that Des has such huge manly hands. They look monstrous next to Drew's perfect, dainty puny features.

I can't even imagine Nate and Drew in the same room. Des needs someone his brother could respect. I dont mean to imply that Des needs to marry a
gang leader, but just someone that Nate will not make fun of. I can see Nate getting under Drew's skin and it could get ugly fast. I dont
think Des is close to his brother, but he's still family and I believe you marry the person, you marry the family.

I'm sorry but ewww to both those scenarios. And please count me on the side of the board that would not touch either either a 10 foot pole. Thanks.

I'm with you nd4reality. I am a ways past 40 and no way would I be interested in Brooks...and Jeff even less! We are in for some slim pickings for the next season. That is the only thing I am remotely interested about this season...who will be the next lead...because that will determine if I watch or have some extra free time next year.

Love it Charriot--of course, I realize I am about the only one--but in my mind I count!! Hugesmile
Brooks already has that one NYE fan to make her mystery appearance next season---and my girlfriend's daughter just gave birth so I got a candidate for Effie. Game, set, match!
Des may have had better success with gang leader. That remains to be seen.
I say let's have Nate as the next TB. We can bring back Vienna for him.

No good deed goes unpunished.
Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, bye Felicia!
