The Bachelor 18 Spoilers/Speculation - Media - Discussion

People are really not invested in JuanPablo. Simply as that. Does not have to mean that the show will not have steady ratings(especially because they seem to go out of their way to promote it) but people won't give a shit what happens to the happy couple.

Yes, some are disappointed that there is a fan mentality around here, but personally, I don't think that is the issue. I really think that people are just not that invested in JPab. The initial...fake...buzz that the producers created, has pretty much died. Reading his tweets and some of his interviews seemed to have dispelled much of the fantasy they created...and the spoilers that he picked the b*tch didn't exactly help. In addition, none of his ladies seemed to have stirred our imaginations. At this time, it never really seems to be about the lead...the site is buzzing about the cast. This year, not so much. Aire, Jeff, Ashley, Cat, Des, Chris, Brooks...we were buzzing about them in the pre season. I don't see anywhere near as much interest in any of the ladies for this season. Hopefully, once the show starts, we will get invested in some of the cast...we usually do. For me, this is looking to be one of those seasons when I don't get too invested and just enjoy snarking away!

None of the girls really stuck out for me- I never saw any of them as matches for Juan Pablo. So that doesn't interest me. I'll still watch the show when it airs, like most people. I just never stuck around to figure out clues, well, mainly because I have a real job where I can't sit around all day doing this stuff now lol, but also I never had a reason to if I didn't like any of the girls for Juan Pablo.

I wholeheartedly agree. Even my non-spoiled friends who watch are so over the promo for this season and all that "juan-uary" crap. And while a few of the girls look interesting from their bios, not a single one jumps off the page at me like in seasons past. I don't anticipate getting invested at all, mainly because I have another more important event to watch/sleuth about, but it sure will be fun to get back to snarking away.

I respectfully disagree. This site WAS different. Most fan sites do not allow you to say negative things about the cast. This one specifically allowed negativity towards the cast which was why we had so much wonderful snark happening. And the shutting down of sleuthing was not the only reason we left FORT. The mods there got more and more heavy-handed with bannings and punishments and strict rules to the point one didn't know what was safe to say and what wasn't. Until Emily's season and the extremely divisive fanning that took place here, we survived peacefully without the need for any of that. Sadly, starting in Emily's season, the fans of certain cast members would not allow anything negative to be said about their favorite even though it was totally allowed by the rules. Please understand I'm not trying to stir things up...just want the facts to be known by those who weren't around when this site came into existence. I'm sincerely hoping that in future seasons we can return to our roots. Let the snarking begin...calling on the Queen of Snark, Kasha!

I was around when this site started. I left for awhile and only post every now and again. There were issues at FoRT long before Emily's season. Every season sides would divvy up and the fights would begin. I came on FoRT in 2007 and they were fighting back then. Tessa fans versus Bevin fans so these forums are mostly all alike IMO. I do believe the mods at FoRT did their best to keep things in control but they got tired of moderating a bunch of people who wouldn't stop fighting. Were they always fair probably not because I got a few infractions myself but after awhile enough is enough. The same thing that was happening there is also happening here and as long as people have opinions it will always continue.

Hopefully, if we are not so invested in anyone in particular things might remain calmer around here, but, I won't be holding my breath. I'll be watching and following here no matter what and you never know...someone could just stir the imagination...for the next season....

Sorry if I wasn't clear. When I referred to Emily's season, I meant the season that she was lead and what happened here...not Brad's season on FORT. I never looked at FORT again after this forum was formed so have no clue what Emily's season on FORT was like.  I do know that on this forum we managed to survive Ashley's and Ben's season just fine so I am confident it can be done. There does not have to be fighting...it's not some kind of given and we proved it in those two seasons. :Smiley:

I completely agree with IrishGal. Sure everyone has their favorites every season, but we used to have so much fun snarking. Even though some may have disagreed, what we all had in common was our love of snarking on the show and the contestants, and sleuthing. Now the sleuthing is almost non-existent and most of the snark is gone. It's no longer fun when this silly show is taken so seriously.

I have to agree with a lot of what you've said, so I won't repeat,  simply will add that one of the major incentives with the start of this forum and the closing of the bach spoiler threads on FORT (and if you choose to look at my member date you can see it was the date this site opened) was freedom of speech. The main and only forum rule at that time was to be respectful of each other and not to attack other members . Pretty damn simple if you ask me. And for a long time this was abided by without issue.
Then, IMOAA, this site grew to big too fast(on any given day look to see how many users are here--then subtract the number of guests, bots, etc and see how incredibly small the number of actual members are). New members were not of the same mindset of the founding members. It did become a fan site.
IMO--the show is stale and has been since the M farce and fiasco. I have no interest. Not even to snark-- and certainly not to worry about who on any given day might be offended by what I say.
Thankfully, I have some wonderful things going on in RL to keep me busy, but I do check in frequently!
I believe members have moved on--evidenced by the scant amount of wishes for happy holidays, etc.
But for all who continue to visit--May you blessed with a wonderful new year filled with good health and much happiness!!

For me..... my lack of interest in the preseason conversation is simple math.

wrong bachelor + "rumored' villain = a bad season before it starts.

This is most likely another Ben Flajnik season for me. Juan Pa should never have been chosen as a lead. If Drew was the lead, I would be on these boards daily.
