I think this can easily be interpreted that Brooks was F1 from the first night and that the other guys felt like they didn't have a chance and therefore weren't "happy with it." Fleiss's hyperbole never matches the outcome.

That's what I'm starting to wonder myself. Then why come back?

Because we have never had a first date be the F1. To Fleiss, this is what he can spin to "shocking." It's never actually shocking, though in this case, he could argue that viewers would be shocked that she picked him day 1, as we've never seen that.

I don't think Brooks leaves. They have emphasized how important loyalty is to Des, in terms of her parents' marriage. She doesn't strike me as someone who is okay with someone leaving when things get hard, since she has said, several times, that her parents stuck it out through difficult periods. And she idolizes their relationship.

Then what comes out of 'left field' on the day of the FRC? That's what he makes it sound like it happens. That it seems like she's obviously picking Chris?

The whole Fleiss interview is a mess. He does mention in the same podcast how boring Ben's season was with Courtney. She had a date in episode #2, just the SECOND date, not the very first one... as if that even matters.

If the "guys" may not be "happy with it"... well, it could be the Brooks situation... or not.

We also have Curve Ball #2: "I don’t know that Desiree’s happy with it". Curious what "it" is. Another "hyperbole" requiring an explanation.

I still think something freaky happens at the final rose ceremony. Yeah, Brooks is Last Man Standing and supposedly both he and Chris propose. Yet more is required to make the ending "weird". We also can't rule out anything happening AFTER the final rose ceremony... maybe the day after.

As for the possiblility of more than one guy leaving and coming back...

Drew, Bryden and even Kasey could all be potential returnees. (Hashtag# Desah-Ray is my dream girl) Bryden could give an "explanation" a.k.a. Bentley if Desiree wastes our time moaning and groaning about his sudden departure in Germany. He DID say in his episode #1 intro that he "will win her heart" much like Bentley did. Oh Desiree may be gaga over Brooks, but Bryden must be strong enough competition at some point early in the season. Boo hoo hoo.

As for Drew... he sure is edited in a kooky way in the promos. Look at some of these curious voice-overs involving Drew shots:

… so to fall in love with somebody like Desiree (Kasey's line but Drew shown)
The way I feel right now… (Desiree... reminds me of Jillian talk a.k.a. Reid)
I knew I was always deserving of it but I never felt myself loved (in her past, that is. Well, Drew must demonstrate that for her somehow... some way.)
(Picture, like, the best dream you ever had) and times that by ten (Drew is shown in second part of this line like a dream multiplied tenfold)
Because of what I’ve been through… (What did she have to "go through" with Drew?)
Love is something everyone should feel (Again, Desiree talking over Drew as if feeling sorry for him in some way)

We also have Drew blubbering over a shot of Bryden (of all people!) running with a grabbed hand Desiree "I’ve been waiting my entire life for this moment..." (Ha ha! Reminds me of Ryan Sutter saying in Trista's season he wished he could grab her and run away with her.)

Me thinks Christopher Siegfried is not the future Jason Mesnick that Mister Fleiss has in mind for a future season. You need somebody who will cry on cue over a balcony.

Don't know what all of this monkey business is about. Yet it will certainly keep the editing threads, both spoiler and non spoiler, active all season.

One of the entries in her blog says that Desiree does pick Brooks but he does not propose...I have no idea who this person is and where he/she gets their info. Just thought I put it out there...

RS said replied to a tweet that and said "100% not true considering the FRC doesn't even happen until next week. Just someone looking for attention" . It's also a guy and he guessed wrong with Emily and said she picked Sean.

Yes and we discussed that a long time ago. The person said Sean was Final 1, etc.

:WAVEY: Not really. Just the usual spin by the show 'insiders' to rag mag In Touch saying that more than one guy leaves and comes back throughout the season!

Also, I think James wins the group Western Date, because what Des is wearing in that preview giving him the rose with that little purple flower in her hair looks like the same sweater she's wearing with Zak. I wrote why in Zak's thread. Do you think that cap of Zak kissing Des at the mansion was cut from the 2nd episode?

I myself have wondered if someone leaving and returning could not be the weird ending - similar to Ed leaving except perhaps leaving at HTDs and returning for the FRC. That would match with the absence of Brooks Antigua SCs.
The scenario that would make it acceptable to the lead could be a genuine family emergency which warranted the participant (Brooks in this case) to need time off from the show.
Perhaps that is his journey to F1 and the other guys would not be happy about it.
