I think Travis Stork and Andrew Firestone were good. The guys on Ready for Love were all successful. You can get a more together/successful guy for the lead than you can to join the show as one of the bachelors for the bachelorettes. IMO Sean was the best recycle and Bob Guiney the worst. But, the girls don't generally have stellar educations or careers so maybe average Joe is a better fit anyhow.

I think Andrew Firestone is still one of my top two favorite bachelors because I could see why 25 girls would be so eager to compete to marry him. Aside from being rich and successful, he was good looking and funny and seemed to be an all around good guy. Some of these recycle bachelors are still reaching for success but I think TPTB started out knowing they had to pick leads that were already successful to sell the idea of women competing for them. Not sure when that changed.

Charlie had nothing going for him (they used his brother to get people to know who the heck he was). Lorenzo used the show to promote his dog care products & pretended that he's actually royalty. Aaron seemed like a typical re-cycle to me. Travis used the show to pay for medical school. Jesse...I don't get why Jesse did it. Byron's season sucked until Mary got there. Matt Grant...his season totally sucked and he seemed like a typical re-cycle too...(no job).

I just don't see the big deal over having a new person over a re-cycle.

I'll tell you what it is for me, personally.
A new lead comes in fresh. There are not as many preconceived notions. We (sleuthers) can dig up stuff to help fill in the outline of what the show provides --the good, the bad and the ugly. But unless the season is pegged as: Bach 19: Green Mile or E'tte 10 --Ridden Rough, most of the mains have more of a mystery to them--no sad backstory played out ad nauseam.

But the recycled--well, that outline has already been filled in. Not as much mystery if you are not a newbie but day old news. That 15 minutes of fame is usually stale.
Even though I like Brad, I was not thrilled to see him up to bat a second time. For those I don't care for the first time around--Jake or M---wash my eyes out with lemon juice!
Can you begin to imagine the torture if Vienna, Courtney or Effie lad(someone move controversial) was recycled? Who needs that?

The bolded is exactly why recycling the leads from previous contestants doesn't work for me. No quality doctor or lawyer or entertainer or sports star etc.... is ever going to apply to be 1 of 25 guys competing for some strange girl. They might apply to be the lead... but not a contestant. It's only guys that are currently unemployed or looking for television exposure to advertise themselves or their business. If Ben was a successful vintner, no way would he have applied as a contestant. Sean is basically unemployed... so what's he got to offer Cat when DWTS is over?

1) Egg whites
2) 101 ways to manscape
3) the shirts he refuses to wear--some may even have ruffles

No quality doctor or lawyer or entertainer or sports star etc.... is ever going to apply to be 1 of 25 guys competing for some strange girl. They might apply to be the lead... but not a contestant. It's only guys that are currently unemployed or looking for television exposure to advertise themselves or their business. If Ben was a successful vintner, no way would he have applied as a contestant. Sean is basically unemployed... so what's he got to offer Cat when DWTS is over?

While there have been casting mistakes in the past (same could be said about recycled Bach's as well) my favorites are still Andrew Firestone and Brad Womack, who like you described wouldn't be caught dead applying to be 1 of 25. I also didn't hate HDDA's season - he had some really great women and I fell hook, line, and sinker for the Tessa/Andy love story. Fun times.

Anyway, I agree that its difficult to find a bachelor who is not only successful on paper but also witty, charming, not abusive, monogamous and not married
by the age of 26. But sometimes they have that bachelor who has the potential of being interesting but they failed to cast a woman who might have
brought out that part of him that is interesting and charismatic. Andrew Firestone is a complete package but the women they cast for him
were not only bunch of dumb morons but were hohums on the looks department.

Brad Womack was a catch. It would have been interesting if Ashlee Frasier was cast in his season. They would have been hot together, and
bore as all with their abandonment issues, but it would have been more interesting than Emily/Brad. So we'll see more of poor women fighting over the Jake Pavelkas, Ben Flahniks and men who cant kiss to save their lives.

Bachelor best recyle for me: Jason Mesnick! (just kidding). Okay Maybe Howdy Doo cause he's such a puppet. That made it entertaining for everyone.

Best bachelors for me (not recycled) Andrew Firestone, Andy Baldwin, Brad Womack and Travis Stork wasn't so bad.

Worst Bachelors: The prince (I dont even remember his name) and that big oaf from Britain with wonkey teeth.
I mean Britain is teeming with BEAUTIFUL MEN with accents and they get that retard. They should get more Bachelor from other countries, Norway,
Holland, Australia, France even Canada. They might want to marry for greencard, but what the hey. Women wants to see real men with accents.


Bachelors I want to see before this show is cancelled:

1. Astrophysicists (some scientists from discovery channel are hot)
2. Survivalist - someone like Bear Grylls.
3. A lawyer - someone hot, I dont care if he's a douche in real life. Its just a tv show.
4. A surgeon - doctors are sexy. But I want someone like Jack Shephard from Lost.


Bachelorettes I want to see. I have very low expectations for women who join the show. Someone not trashy, not giggly, have more than 25 words in
her vocab. Someone who is both cute and hot. Someone snarky and not too prude and not too much of a slut, just right. I do not like party girls.
They annoy me. Des is a great choice for Bachelorette actually. But men love the Selmas and Gwens and Lindsays. But lets see.

Did you like Peyton? She seems to fit your description. Those types are few and far between.

I feel Sean and Catherine have lots in common. Sean seems adventous and likes to exercise. Catherine seems into health as Sean seems to like. They both seem to want to do Charity work. They both seem ambitious. Sean does have his own business and that takes a lot of courage. She seems to be very funny as does he. They both seem kind of geeky, but in a cute way. They both seem romantic. I know she is a vegitarian and he is into religion. She seems to like religion and is embracing his life. People change religions all the time to match their partner. I think as long as he has a religion she can feel good about then she'll bond with him and get more into religion. I believe they can make it. I have never felt so sure. Just because its never happened doesn't mean it won't ever happen. He is very sincere, kind and thoughtful. She seems to be as well. I hope they will get married by the end of the year. If you know you know.
