It may also be true that on Brydans side he did not have a girlfriend at the time of the show, and that they had broken up when he left for filming.
I do think that if the girl has unresolved feelings, or even still considers herself to be involved with Bryden... well that is a huge red flag to me. I would not think any guy would want someone out in this world who was unclear about the relationship. I think any guy would be sure to end the relationship or have a good talk about expectations.
In my experience guys who are okay with stringing girls along are just shady.

Yeah, it's okay if you don't like him for Des. But, that's harsh to say about someone from the military.

My take is that without the military, the gentle souls (like Brooks, Drew and Chris) would not have room to exist; they would not be free. So I'm forever grateful and feel much respect for the Brydens of the world who are willing to do what they do.

I'm an Air Force brat, who's brother was also in the Air Force and Air Force reserve. My youngest son is considering the Army, but as a selfish mom, I don't want him to join even though I know it's an honorable commitment and I am grateful for our freedoms being protected by those that serve. It is so tragic for those involved in war who suffer long after they return whether mentally or physically.

Maybe volunteering for a worthy cause like Wounded Warriors or Soldiers Angels would give a different perspective

I live in a military town where many of the troops are deployed over and over again for months at a time. They are my neighbors, church friends, volunteer associates, casual acquaintances, clients, etc. They have lived under a tension that I cannot imagine, then they return home and take care of their families, their homes, their community with a huge degree of gratitude for this free country. They are excellent role models and honorable citizens. I would trust my life with them - oh wait, I already do.

I think we should pause here and recall that if it were not for our military men and women, we might be living in a not-so-free country under the rule of people and ideas completely foreign to what this country stands for.
I personally am grateful for each and every person in the military. We should feel bad that they have been exposed to horror, and that some of them come back diseased of mind and/or body. It is difficult to let go of the violence that these young people are asked to commit. Just ask anyone who has been in any armed conflict.

While it is true many of our soldiers come back with some medical problems many others don't. Unfortunely, with the heighten awareness of psychological problems of some troops many of the general public think all soilders that come back from war have problems. Isn't Bryden still in the National Guard?, therefore he has to still have that haircut as his unit meets at least one weekend a month for training. I think he is.
So agree with you Rosepetal. My son was a teacher who decided he needed to do his duty to OUR country and he was in Korea and Afganistan and my husband had two tours in Vietnam, my brother was in Vietnam, my father was 26 years in the military and many other friends and relatives that went to war and not one came back with medical problems. However even if they had I would be very proud that they at least got off their butts and protected our freedom. Now as to his haircut I just thought he wore it that way because he liked it like that. His haircut doesn't have to be cut that way for the military.
You may not see any chemistry with Des and that's fine but it has nothing to do with his military service.
