Personally, I don't think any of the guys I mentioned were "successful". Some of our Bachelorettes werent successful either...but everyone views success differently.
I do kind of miss the days when our leads weren't so regular but I know that there are a lot of fans that like that, I guess it makes them more relatable.
That's why Ready For Love intrigued me, because their bachelors were like the older models The Bach used to have. But the show got cancelled after 3 episdoes.

I looove Howl's Moving Castle ceebeedee, I am a studio ghibli junkie!
And I have a scribd account for free ebooks. The last I read was American Son, but I bought it from google play, its about two half filipino
half white brothers, highly recommended. I love these kinds of novels as I like Coelho and Junot Diaz.
I'll watch Bridesmaids (again, my comfort movie) and Girl with the Pear Earing.

A couple more romantic dramas I like are The Illusionist & The Painted Veil both with Ed Norton. My fave movie guilty pleasure is Ever After with Drew Barrymore, close 2nd is Fifty First Dates. My other guilty pleasure is watching shows like Ghost Adventures, The Haunted Collector and The Dead Files.
As for books, I've recently rediscovered historical romances! There's a couple historical westerns that I love. Meanwhile, I recommend Me Before You by Jojo Moyes. It is not a romance but it's a love story.

Apology to continue to digress...

This makes me wanna discuss the beautiful soul of Hayao Miyazaki's animated stories vs the shallow fairy tales that Disney spits out now and then. Oops sorry.

Relatable is too pedestrian. Sean's only other attraction is that he's a rare good ol' fashioned American boy. If they got an actual NFL player to be The Bach instead of FORMER college player, then there's no question he's a catch. I know they asked Tebow who refused. I'm thinking the franchise is losing its appeal and many more eligible bachs don't want to bother joining.
Meanwhile I've stopped watching DWTS last week. But I voted for Andy. Sorry Sean.

I think Deanna and then Jason were the first recycles from the previous season....At that point the franchise decided it was more important to have someone who was already known to the audience than an accomplished or wealthy lead. I agree that none of the guys you mentioned could be considered successful and that brings us back to the original question.....why do the audience and the contestants get bamboozled into wanting to "win" such a mediocre catch?

A few more romantic movie and anime suggestions:
Dakota Sky - Indie movie
The Girl Who Leapt Through Time - anime
Whisper of The Heart - anime
Cross Game - anime/manga series about baseball and first love
Anything by Miyazaki/Studio Ghibli.
Wedding Singer with Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore. Julia Gulia, anyone?

Don't break anybody's heart, they have only one. Break their bones, they have 206.
