stars from their own network go farther than the average contestant...part of the contract I'm sure.

They're taking him out on a trial run to see if he can maintain the fan-base he acquired doing the TB. Young women croon over him, older women embrace him for his conservative platform, gay men find him pleasing to their eyes, and he is generally reported to be a likable guy to everyone who meets him. As a clear ratings draw, ABC can take him out on a test drive to see what more they can do with him.

This has less to do with contract and more to do with business for them and opportunity for him. It's exactly what Emily Maynard was banking on, but didn't get so lucky in obtaining.

Of course this isn't a dance competition! If it were, each couple would do the same dance to the same music on the same week and be compared and rated accordingly. The show exists for network ratings and the profit that follows. The promotion of Sean is no different than adding Zandaya in the mix and the new more contemporary dances. It can't be more obvious that the show is trying to attract a younger fan-base. They could not have selected a more popular teenager to help them achieve that goal.

As for Sean.... right now, it is all being handed to him on a silver platter - and that is surely more fun and more financially lucrative than refinishing furniture. You can be sure that the network execs are watching him closely: how much more money can they make off his looks? off his personality? off any talent he might have. If it continues to prove promising, Sean, alone, will decide when he had enough.

It's not his dancing, he is horrible.. but the personal negativity towards Sean is further manifested on the judges, ABC blah blah. Just say I hate him and everything he does. End of story.

Where's the fun in that? giggling

Sean will be yesterdays news soon and the Bach franchise will pitching a new face to the public.... wash...rinse... repeat....

Naturally this isn't a true dance competition, it's more of a popularity contest.... I get that. What I do object to is the judges scores effecting the outcome by unfairly over or under-scoring contestants to get a desired outcome. But then again, maybe their scores at least balance out mass voting by a few fans, so maybe it's not a bad thing. Regardless of how the first 2/3rd's of the contestants are let go, the best dancers should be in the final 4... give or take the odd mistake. Bristol comes to mind.

NV -- I said the same thing about his contract several days ago and was told here that I was wrong! I feel certain (though I admit that I have no real evidence) that Sean's contract assured him a minimum number of weeks. To use Trista's early (or ESPN's Kenny Mayne's) departure as an example is silly because that took place in the very first season when voters truly watched the dancing!!

It's all about ratings for ABC. As soon as Sean is past his contractural commitment, his continuation on the show will be commensurate with his effect on the ratings.

I think Sean has outlasted the dancers weaker than him so far. I believe Victor will go tonight, with the possibility Sean will be in the bottom 2 with him. Starting next week, I think he is basically playing with house money and will last only as long as his fans take him, which imo will be one or two weeks more.

A contract can be in writing or verbal... so who knows what the exchange was in negotiations to get him to do the show. It's the overscoring and false praise, compared to the overcritical and lower scores of comparable dancers that tells me all I need to know about who's pocket the judges are in. They want to promote ABC employees, so to speak, it's their right, whatever... but just don't expect me to buy what they're trying to sell. I may have been born during the night... but it wasn't last night...

Here's another POV to consider.... the judges score mean diddily squat! Is there any outside accountability to the vote? "They say" the scores are totaled together. "They say" the highest votes win. Who is "they". And who is providing outside accountability? Who is to say that any vote matters? Can't be any easier in my mind to see how the final dancers are exactly who the network execs want to be there. They are NOT going to let the "popular" man or woman be eliminated.... it all hinges on ratings! Their only concern is being sure that the top four dancers has a viewership behind them. .

They'll keep him on the show as long as it is beneficial to them. As for contracts, you can be sure there are always clauses - always clauses - that provide the powered hand "their out".

I actually would not be surprised if his "allotted" time on the show is over -- they made a huge deal last night about his missing a day of rehearsals. I felt that they sort of started to throw him under the bus. Perhaps his usefulness to ABC has run its course.

I would not want to be beholden to the Bachelor machine; being owned by the entire conglomerate of ABC would be even worse.

I sure hope so. The judges actually critiqued his dance the way they should have from the beginning, but then Len giving him and Jacoby a 7 and that made me think that mabye they have to give him another week. I guess we'll see tonight. Dial Idol has Victor leaving tonight though, and so far this season they are spot on so let's see if that streak continues .

Love FL's input.

I wonder if ABC overestimated Sean's appeal to the public. It was there in the beginning I would not deny that, but overexposure
and all the horrible dancing is making him less and less appealing.

Catherine and Peta are tag teaming and working hard (unintentionally maybe) to make him look good. Points taken against feminism I would say,
because he is making a killing out of women's fantasies all he has to do is propose in public, say he believes in Jesus and show off his muscles.
He doesn't even need to have any talent or personality.

Back to his dancing, ABC obviously had the proverbial cannon fodders like DL, Victor, Vanderpump (?), They were all lucky, Hamill backed out, bought
them all time. Now Andy Dick a supposed cannon fodder, maybe ABC is counting on him breaking down, is getting more and more
endearing to the public while Sean is getting more and more insufferable. The public is not blind that he is getting all the help, the presence of
Catherine, the YMCA group dance, the cutesy scripted packages etc., and Len's scoring which may not mean squat but convinces the public
that he deserves to stay on.

I think ABC just made a supposed golden boy into a caricature. To make the transition from reality tv he should at least have a respectable
alpha male image. He was a laughingstock last night. What is it trying to achieve aside from trying to earn a living?
He will have the cash but not that kind of image that people take seriously for someone to stay on in the limelight. I think the televised
free wedding will be the final nail in the overexposure coffin.
