Episode 1 (Premiere) - 5/27 - Bachelorette 9 - Discussion - Spoilers

Seeing all those ridiculous freaks and unwashed masses who showed up to bother Des under the guise or romance, I have become a huge, huge fan of this poor girl and now am invested in this sordid tale. Yikes!

I loved her reactions and the palpable uneasiness she felt around Jonathon the Fantasy Suite nut and also the other ones I've already forgotten about. She was being cute and genuine, and I think she'll be extremely fun to watch. Her eyes totally lit up and sparkled when Brooks walked out of the limo so I have high hopes! I saw Sean tweeted that he hopes her story has the same ending his did, which is an adorable sentiment, so I'm going to go ahead and wish her the same. She'll deserve it after living through this disaster for sure, in any case.

I didn't care for Emily before her season but she illustrated, in grand style, what it looks like to be confident and solid in what she was seeking in a man. Des seems so young and not strong enough to anchor this show. Time will tell, of course, but I don't hold out much hope. And I like her!

We have been with this franchaise for so long I think it may be time to tweak the format to refresh interest. Giving out roses during the party is not enough. How about a new, modern mansion? That place is hideous.

As this season moves forward we will complain about the same old boring dates, too.

I loved Des last night! She came off very warm and happy and grateful. And her face is very, very expressive, which I love so it's easy to see what she is feeling. I think she will be a great bachelorette.

The guys ... not so impressive yet. I liked Brooks but probably would not have picked him out if I didn't know the spoilers. I thought Drew came off as a little too perfect ... trying a little too hard to say all the right things and not letting go. I'm not sure I'm going to respond to him. I loved Ben of course! And I really liked the guy who came in on the motorcycle as far as the entrance went. I liked Chris's entrance. He came off very real and warm. I HOPE they are not thinking Drew as bachelor because so far he seems way too boring. But we'll see. Only the first episode! Plenty of time for the guys' personalities to emerge and to grow!!!!

Hi there. :WAVEY: It is not really a deleted scene. It was part of her package. It shows her going into a fabric store, where she sketches a dress. Whether she is really chosing the fabric, who knows. She then, diary talk style, says her dream job is to design wedding dresses and make them personal to each bride. I was prepared to hear her say she designed her silver dress from last night but she didn't!

You didn't miss anything. Though I live in the US I find it annoying that Canada is limited to some things we have access to for this show. If you are going to broadcast it, open up the gate for everything!

In the fun/fan art/fashion thread it says who made the silver dress. Several actresses and a country singer have worn it (one in gold). It's by the same designer of Ashley's wedding dress.

Pretty sure it's Randi Rahm who does a lot of these dresses for the franchise (including Ashley's wedding dress and I think her M&G and her FRC dress). Not a fan.

And going back to that video of Des designing dresses, does anyone know the location of the shots of her in the royal blue tank-like top? That same outfit showed up multiple times last night and I just wondered if it was all recorded very late in the season to provide some of the narration.

I agree. I think Desiree is going to be a great Bachelorette, she's so genuine and easy to watch. But like you, I was not impressed with her group of men. Shame on the producers for not getting her a better batch of guys, some of them are just completely wrong for her.

I wouldn't have picked Brooks for her either, if I didn't know the spoilers. He didn't stand out in the crowd, and he also didn't get a rose before the rose ceremony. But she did have a huge smile on her face when she called his name during the rose ceremony, and they also didn't edit him out of the show last night. They showed him a lot more than they showed Catherine on night one. I'm curious to see how he wins her over.

I did like Chris, and I think the guy on the motorcycle was Brandon. I really liked him, but he might be too intense for Des. Drew looks like a great guy, I'm curious about him. Can't wait to see how the season unfolds.

What was disappointing for me last night was the amount of time that was spent before the guys even arrived, 40 minutes before the first limo even pulled up. That left only a short amount of time seeing Des talk to these guys before the RC. And with that most of what was shown was her talking to these drama queens. I guess the gimmicks are getting old.

I think Des did a good job last night, especially with Mr Fantasy Date man, and I applaud Will for being such a gentleman. Des seems to be a little more reserved, which might make her seem less confident, but I think she'll loosen up as time goes on.

How does Zak, the guy with no shirt, make it to the final four? I guess that's like Lindsay with the wedding dress, making it to the final two. I just don't picture Zak with Des, at all....

I asked that since I found out he was in the final 4! Seriously though, she did say 'Thank you for doing that', like she was hinting to him that she would give him a rose. I think she likes that he's a little quirky and different.
