motheroffive wrote:I agree that this is all hype about not knowing. When Sean sat down with Chris Harrison in this last episode, he asks him if he is in love and he says yes. In Robin Ross' interview with Chris Harrison this week she asked if he had a feeling about who he would pick and he responded " Leaving the first place, I wasn't sure, but once we got to the final place, yes. But only because I had conversations with him off camera and I got to see which way he was leaning" I don't think it was a last minute decision.
I agree - the other telling line from last week's episode with Lindsay is he compared their relationship to "high school sweethearts." Now this is all fine & good if they had actually met in high school and managed to grow up together but Sean & Lindsay met when he was 28!! I am thinking he is looking for more substance in his relationship and he gets that with Catherine.
Pretty much every blogger that I respect are saying/seeing the same thing ... Sean has to keep kissing Lindsay cause that's what they do best.

HowSoonIsNow wrote:I'll double that $17 and raise you $34. This happens every season, though they are hyping the indecision more this season.
Especially at the MTP, every season the lead tells his own parents that he's undecided and says he doesn't know what to do. At least, onscreen and in the edit, that's what we're shown. Every time.
Many times, the parents have said what Sean's mom said, to not rush into a proposal if one of them isn't your clear favorite. Other times a parent might indicate a bias toward one of the F2, and still other times the parents will just say that they trust the lead's judgement to do what's right.
LOL - and little doubt I'd still be out - just twice as much.
Yes - the apparent indecision on the part of the lead is stock in trade for this show - every season it's the same. The ONLY season I can remember where I thought this was actually true was Jason's because they showed him with his mother crying because he was conflicted. I figured a lead can talk the talk the show wants about being in love with two women but crying in front of your mother and saying the same thing is a different kettle of fish. The history of that season seems to support that Jason really was conflicted.
The lead's family typically doesn't resolve the conflict either because there always seem to be some who like A and some who like B and the lead has to sort it out for themselves. That's also stock in trade and happens almost every year and I don't know why this one would be the exception.

Re: Episode 10 (Finale) - 3/11 - Bachelor 17 - Discussion - Spoilers
It seems to me that because Sean didn't pick his top choice the first night and took his time figuring out his feelings, they are playing the indecision storyline up even more than usual. But I would not buy for a second that he doesn't know who he wants this late in the game.
I am curious, though, how they're going to account for the fact that he already told Chris Harrison that he is in love and ready to get down on one knee if they are going to backtrack and make him pretend to be conflicted still.

Perhaps they are banking on the fact that we will forget that during the 2 week wait. Hehe

I think everything the lead says, i.e. "I can see myself with (fill in the blank)... I'm falling in love with (more than one person)... is all a script from tptb. If I were the chosen girl, all of these statements would make sense to me since I have lived through this process and had a home town date where all of this was already done right before my eyes. All Sean has to say to Cat is this is what he was told to say on camera. I'm sure he has since explained things off camera. He has to say these things to make it not look like he was totally leading on the F2, even though that's how this show works. What else is he supposed to say?

This is like Ashley telling her family she's in love but not sure which one. LOL. Like, Bach or Ette, are you an idiot or what? It's just TPTB machinations, otherwise, they would be crazy.elyn wrote:It seems to me that because Sean didn't pick his top choice the first night and took his time figuring out his feelings, they are playing the indecision storyline up even more than usual. Big: You know, Manhattan has a lot of beautiful women.
Carrie: What an amazing observation!
Big: But the thing is, after awhile, you just wanna be with the one who makes you laugh.

I can see how they can be conflicted through this in many ways. At least anyone who is even sort of taking this seriously. (I realize most don't) They are often confronted with who they think should be perfect on paper, who fits what they always said they wanted and who their heart is telling them it wants. How often do we hear the lead and some of the contestants say exactly what they are looking for, and as we watch the season play out, they keep choosing someone who doesn't fit that description? I believe that Sean did keep picking the ones that fit his description as well as some he just liked or didn't mind keeping around. He got rid of the ones he knew weren't a fit. So as it got down to just a few, I think he was conflicted by who he thought he should pick based upon what he believed to be what he wanted and who his heart kept telling him not to let go. He is lucky that his heart won out because Catherine also fits what he thought he wanted. He just didn't realize it until late in the process.
Tough times don't last, tough people do. Life is a journey, not a destination.

What could this be? The Letter, perhaps?

Yeah, "game-changing surprise" makes me think the letter was from someone he already sent home. Probably Des, which is why Chris has been referring to her as the love of his life who he let get away, to make that letter seem more important/dramatic. But apparently it's not that game-changing because he gets engaged to Catherine, what, 20 minutes later?

Mom telling him not to propose? I can't decide if that would be a game-changing surprise or not - it'd be more "questions are raised that could be a game-changer"? My other choice is Cat getting more verbal about 'I Love You"?

Re: Episode 10 (Finale) - 3/11 - Bachelor 17 - Discussion - Spoilers
My opinion is that the letter is from Catherine, to go along with the little notes she gave him through-out the season. I think if it came from someone he sent home, or a sister or mother, that he would have been given the letter earlier in the day, before the FRC. I don't think they would give it to him at the "alter" because if it really was game changing, they would have to hold the ceremony up to give him time to reflect and decide. But if it is from a sister/mom/someone he let go, and they give it to him earlier as he is getting ready, it gives him time to do the reflecting. I think it is just Catherine's last minute "I love you, thank you for everything even if you don't choose me, I want you to be happy" and it doesn't change anything because he planned to choose her anyway. Just my $0.02.
