I don't think it was that she wasn't buddy buddy with them, it was more that she couldn't act politely in society...and the fact that she thinks she couldn't have done anything differently just shows that she learned nothing. Life will be very tough if she can't get along with people.

She didn't really attack anyone or sabotaged anyone's relationship with Sean. Looks like she just kept to herself and ignored everyone. Nothing wrong with that.

Because in this situation where you are being forced to live together with people it just makes it easier to observe the social niceties....just like when you are at work, it makes it much easier if you get along with your co-workers, even if you don't like them and don't want to hang around with them after work. It's what grown up, mature people do, clearly, she still has a ways to go.
